Walking Down The Halbeath Road
CallumPar replied to Parscelona's topic in Scottish Championship General Chatter
Only want Hamilton if it’ll be at home. That pitch is horrendous. I’m not particularly against artificial pitches. Theirs is horrendous though. Last time we were in the championship, we went to Firhill in the league cup, then in the Scottish cup, then in the playoffs (albeit, to play Queens Park) in addition to the 2 league games there. Playing each other 4 times is already excessive. Giving us an 87.5% chance of having to play one team at least 5 times in a season is just far too much. -

Definitely agree, it’s a huge improvement. Just a bit surprised they launched it kinda half-complete. Big step in the right direction though. would be happy with that. Think he’s a very useful player and one that would probably get more time in the championship. He’s a physical threat and knows how to score goals. Would be very pleased if he signs, but obviously wouldn’t blame him if he didn’t. -

Any idea if we’re planning to have a squad list and/or player profiles on the new club website? Seems really odd to not have anything to say who the manager/coaches/players are. Honestly think it’s the only club website I’ve ever seen without that information. It might look more modern, but there seems to be a lot missing. For example, there also doesn’t seem to be any contact information for the club or a ‘contact us’ option on the site. -

Someone pointed out to me this afternoon that Sam Fisher has removed Dundee FC from his Twitter bio. Can’t imagine many teams are planning to pay compensation for him, so would imagine he’s on his way here. -

No chance it will double. 3000 would be very good numbers. -

I’m not expecting a signing today, but would be nice to see the home kit. Players seem to be on holiday. Would expect to see them announced closer to returning for pre-season (which is just 2 weeks away!) -

Ross County look terrible. Expect both them and United to try and buy the league next season. -

The usual srjwindows on the front would be much better. But without their money, we might not be able to afford the likes of KRH. -

Yeah, new away kit looks very nice. All red, with white collar. Red shorts and socks. Sponsor logo is a bit different, think I preferred the old one. Overall a very decent looking kit, looking forward to seeing the others. -

Yes, in fact there would be more complaints about their prices, if they charge more. For what it’s worth, I think fans would also be complaining if we charged £24. -

Yep, us and United Category A games. Typical wee team mentality, trying to cash in on the support of big clubs. -

I don’t think they’re horrendous. I’d probably have preferred red, in line with our club colours. But maybe we’ll get a red away kit? -

Errea deal confirmed. Until 2027 according to their Twitter feed. Can’t believe Errea got a longer deal than Matty Todd. Sack the board! -

Anyway… I do feel quite positive about where we are and the kind of season we could have. If we make the right signings, I do believe we could be challenging for top 4. But I expect us to have a fairly small squad again, so a bit of luck with injuries/suspensions will be required and versatility could be key with the recruits we bring in this summer. -

Not being funny, but I don’t think that was because we had Breen, Todd, McCann and Mehmet. Think anyone tipping us for promotion was looking at us having players like Thomas, Dow, Dorrans, Watson and Kai Kennedy. Everyone expected us to get a lot more out of those players. Obviously Todd has progressed a lot in the last couple of years. But the players we have now were not thought of as championship title contenders. Comrie, Edwards and Wighton are probably the only ones that would have been part of the team that was being touted for promotion. -

Can’t agree with this. McPake did not inherit a squad that could win the championship. That just isn’t true at all. Very few of the players left got regular game time the season before, when we were relegated from the championship. Even looking at what we have, now that he has signed Hamilton, Benedictus and KRH, I don’t think we have a potential championship winning team. So he certainly didn’t inherit one. I think we are 4/5 quality signings away from having a squad that will compete in the top half of the championship. No point getting carried away and setting up false hope/expectations. -

Yep. The nice one was TFG in 2004. The Adidas European kit was the black one, reverse of the home top from that season. Wore it for the cup final in 2007 and the home game v Hacken. -

Yeah, that was awful. Don’t think there was ever any need to wear it. But we wore it 4 times. Think we only wore the away kit 5 times and I’d much rather we saw more of that. -

I’d imagine the Joma deal is up at the end of May or something. So wouldn’t be surprised if the club release/announce something on Thursday/Friday. -

Fairly sure they’ve qualified for Europe, unless Inverness win the cup next week. -

By the way, just realised that the St Pauli game is 4 weeks today. Not long until Pars are back. -

I find it incredible that these guys are too thick to see how stupid the statement was. I also think the board’s admission that they need to win more games makes the decision to keep McGlynn even more confusing.
