  1. If Falkirk drop any points, we win the league. They need 12/12 to have any chance of catching us.
  2. Have to admit, I don’t really take much note of opposition players. But guys that have impressed me this season would include: Josh Rae. Adam Frizzell Ruari Paton Callumn Morrison Rumarn Burrell. Alfie Agyeman There’ll be others and I don’t know contract situations, but I reckon they’d improve our squad based on what I’ve seen. As I’ve said previously though, we need championship experience/proven championship players.
  3. I get what you’re saying, but I do wonder if McGowan’s fitness levels have been below McPake’s expectations. A fit McGowan can probably offer something. But he looks like his legs have completely gone. Looks knackered 5 mins after coming onto the pitch. I probably wouldn’t be too surprised either way with him. Regarding Dorrans, I believe McPake informed him that he was being stripped of the captaincy. Dorrans threw his toys out the pram and McPake said he was free to leave if he wasn’t happy about it. Player and club then agreed to rip up his contract prior to the transfer deadline.
  4. Yep. Only a couple of months in it I think, but Comrie was an early summer signing and Edwards signed 2/3 games into the league cup campaign. Regardless, I’d like to see Comrie stay. He’s a steady RB option, proven at championship level. Would be happy to see competition come in at RB (and LB), or someone who’s capable of forcing their way into the team ahead of Comrie, but the same goes for every single position, if such a player is available and wanting to come here.
  5. McPake hasn’t trusted him enough to give him much game time. From the limited game time he’s had, he’s looked past it. If he’s behind Chalmers, Hamilton and Todd right now and we need to strengthen anyway, I can’t see any benefit in extending his stay. Worth pointing out that one of McPake’s early moves involved terminating Dorrans’ contract, so I think he’s a bit more ruthless than he was at Dundee, when it comes to players/contracts. If Byrne were to return, that would be another player ahead of McGowan.
  6. You must be very young. We only released Lewis Martin last summer.
  7. I’d expect/hope we’ve offered deals to Comrie, Wighton and Breen. We need to strengthen for next season, so if players have struggled for game time this season, I can’t imagine they’re part of the plans for next season. Only possible exception would be Todorov, who I think would be more useful in the championship, where teams are less likely to sit in against us. He’s also scored massive goals for us this season. I think he’s our best striker. But it all depends on what McPake thinks of him and who else is available. Kind of in two minds about Mehmet. Would be fine with him staying, but wouldn’t be bothered if he left. Think clean sheets are largely due to the defenders. Don’t think he’s been fantastic or made saves you wouldn’t expect of a keeper. He’s not good at dealing with shots from anywhere between 15-25 yards out and he’s bad for parrying the ball back into the danger area (see second goal on Saturday) as an example. Kind of surprised we haven’t heard about a Comrie extension. He must be our longest serving player (other than youth products), seems happy and McPake seems to rate him - sure he said he tried to sign him for Dundee. He’s also proven at championship level, so would seem a no-brainer to keep him. Unless he has a better offer from elsewhere…
  8. Not going to this, but hopefully we seal the title. Just want it sorted as soon as possible, so that the focus can shift to budgets, contract renewals and recruitment for next season. The end’s in sight now. To be fair, I can’t see Falkirk winning 4 of their last 5 games, so I think it’s done and dusted anyway. But obviously want it to be ‘official’.
  9. Depends how you set up. If you sit deep and have no intention of attacking, we’ve been struggling to break teams down recently. But we also haven’t had Matty Todd for the last 2 home games, who has been crucial in breaking teams down all season. As for the other comments about McPake not allowing us to ease off, it may not be intentional. There’s a good chance that, once the title is secured, we will lose a couple of games. There won’t be the same intensity/desire once there’s no ‘need’ to win. But then, there’s also the argument that less pressure lets them play with more freedom, which may see us score more goals.
  10. Caught McCann by surprise too, going by his interview on the official site!
  11. I’ve said before that Airdrie have played better than anyone else against us. But I’ve also pointed out numerous times that the league table doesn’t lie, Falkirk have been the second best team in the league to this point and there’s no question about it. At one point, the only difference between us and yourselves was the results between the two teams. So I agree it would be foolish to argue that Airdrie are better than Falkirk. I probably have said some stupid things. We all do. But, in all seriousness, I remember posting something similar to the above, saying that Falkirk had been very poor against us, but must be very good every other week. You had a very long unbeaten run in between the last game at TFS and the game at EEP last month. You’re not where you are based on luck. First half hour today, Falkirk were excellent. I’m genuinely not trying to detract from that. Thoroughly deserved the 2 goal lead. Overall, it was undoubtedly your best 90 mins against us. A bit of luck and you probably could have won it. But, other than the Todd chance right on HT, we were never going to win that. That first half hour today, Falkirk were better than the Airdrie team that went 3-0 up against us before imploding. I was certainly worried we were in for a hammering until Wighton’s goal. Second half, we seemed to deal with most things well, but kept panicking and giving you the ball straight back. We had to make a few last ditch challenges and rode our luck at times. But we held on and the defence protected the keeper. One more slip/misjudged challenge and we could have been here talking about a Falkirk win. But I’ve seen us grind out results most of the season, so I guess that’s maybe part of the reason I wasn’t too worried. Although I must admit, I was a bit nervous whenever the ball went near Otoo!
  12. By questioning a manager’s claim that he out-thought the opposition, after he failed to win a must-win game? Don’t think that’s the same level as claiming the team with better players and a better manager is the one 11 points behind.
  13. Have you seen the state of the Falkirk thread? Your fans seem to claim that Falkirk have better players and that McGlynn’s a better manager than him. It genuinely makes no sense. That’s how thick your fan base is. You’re 11 points behind us, have failed to beat us in 4 attempts, but apparently have better players and a better manager.
  14. Sounds like McGlynn has claimed they battered us and deserved the 3 points. From 2-2, I don’t think they really created anything. First half hour, they were well on top and deserved the 2 goal lead when it came. We weren’t at the races. Then, if the first half had gone on 2/3 mins longer, I think we’d have gone into HT ahead. Looked like Todd should have buried his header. But we had the momentum to finish the half and looked like we would score again. Second half, I genuinely didn’t think either team created anything. Was a bit of a goalmouth scramble from one of our corners and they had a couple of tame efforts from distance, but I don’t recall any clear-cut chances for either team. So I’m not sure why he’s claiming to have ‘totally battered’ us. The fact he claims to have out-thought us is just embarrassing for the guy. We avoided defeat in what was a ‘must-win’ for Falkirk and a ‘must not lose’ for us. We were awful, he still couldn’t find a way to win, but is trying to make himself out to be some kind of winner. No doubt the Falkirk fans on here will take his word as gospel though and think it’s a great interview.
  15. To be fair, we haven’t been struggling at this level for the last 5 years. Pars fans wouldn’t class winning this division as a massive achievement. Says it all that you seem to think it is, diddy club mentality.
  16. Doubt anyone’s surprised at this point. Bottling it is McGlynn’s speciality. Falkirk in full control, then they just imploded until half time. Second half was a non-event with neither team creating anything. But we got the point and ensured that it’s a matter of when we win the title, not if we win the title. No chance we get less than 5 points from the last 5 games and no chance Falkirk get 12 or more. Hopefully we get it sealed in the next week.
  17. Have Falkirk still been playing that boy Mackie at CB recently? Hope he plays there again today. For us, hopefully Todd’s back. If not, I think we could struggle to break them down, will mean that we will be reliant on set pieces again.
  18. Falkirk fans are the most insecure/sensitive fans on here. Jimmy does nothing but wind people up. The trolling isn’t even subtle. But a number of Falkirk fans are frothing at the mouth at every time he posts on the match threads.
  19. I think that was a different game. Could be wrong, but I’m sure the Simmons one was in the McIntyre era. Did he not get booked, then got a second booking within about 2 mins for diving right in front of the Pars fans? Sure the Hill incident involved Falkingham, so had to be under JJ in 2012/13.
  20. Let’s be honest, the club only put those photos up so that we could see Todd’s back training. Good bit of marketing/PR ahead of the weekend.
  21. Same reason as everyone else. To see the Matty Todd show, with his co-star Kane Ritchie-Hosler. I’m glad this is away from home. We seem to play much better on plastic pitches than we do on grass! Actually more confident of us getting the job done at your place than I was at East End.
  22. Our strikers are an odd bunch. All look good at times, but all look poor at times. The amount of balls we got into the box yesterday, but nobody attacked any of them. There was no strikers instinct. None of the strikers made any movement to try and get away from defenders/create space. It was the same v Edinburgh. Can’t underestimate what Todd adds, with his diagonal runs forward that will pull defenders out of position and create space. I just don’t feel like anyone else has that type of footballing brain to match his off the ball running.
  23. Second home game in a row we’ve just seemed so flat. Off the ball, everyone just stood still. Nobody was running, nobody was trying to move into or create space. It was just bad. We should be used to teams sitting in at East End now and figure out a way to combat it. Credit to Kelty, they got what they wanted. They were organised and made it tough for us.
  24. Would imagine it’ll just be the same system/shape as last week, since it’s the same players. It’s a shame Todd’s still not fit. Hopefully Otoo has a decent game as well. Austin and Agyeman are both players that I’d expect to cause our defence problems. Noticed there’s no Higgy or O’Ware for Kelty. Also noticed that Jason Thomson’s starting, does he still play RB, or have they moved him to play CB?
