  1. If you don’t want to pay £20, don’t. It’s honestly as simple as that. Our crowds/ticket sales have been decent. So it hasn’t put off too many people, I don’t think. We haven’t changed our prices from the championship, where £20 was the standard price. We paid £18 to go to Meadowbank, which was one of the worst match day experiences I’ve ever had. They have since reduced their pricing, I believe. Kelty was £18 for terracing. Decent wee ground, but you’d usually pay extra for a seat, so I’d argue our prices are similar.
  2. No they didn't mate, but don't let that put you off. “the Falkirk fans that thought they were turning up and going to hammer us” - a basic grasp of the English language would tell you that’s not a claim that every Falkirk fan thought that. Clearly just alluding to the fact that there were a few that seemed very confident of hammering us. Those are quite obviously the ones he’s talking about.
  3. Just watched them after seeing this. What a slaver the commentator (and co-commentator) is. Similar attitude to McGlynn a lot of Falkirk fans on their thread. Happy to criticise Dunfermline for being ‘negative’ but completely ignoring the fact that Mehmet had absolutely nothing to do until 94 minutes had been played. The ‘not even obvious’ thing made me laugh. It’s the fact he then repeated it as well, rather than correcting himself. Also enjoyed the commentator talking about how time was up, but the ref was giving them one last chance. Then sounding close to tears that they didn’t get another chance after that.
  4. Watched the goal back and the other 3 Pars players that start around the penalty spot draw the 2 man-marking defenders to the front post. Then the zonal marking players move towards that area too. Wighton sneaks around the back unnoticed and the other Pars players just stop as they know the ball’s going to Wighton. Are you really trying to suggest that wasn’t planned? Everything is so deliberate, every man knows their job. I don’t know why you’re in denial about this? It’s really bizarre that you’re so bitter about this that you can’t even accept that was a planned move.
  5. Putting words in my mouth there. Simply stated a fact about last season. I didn’t say he’s always struggled against us, so no idea why you’re getting so offended? He had the better of Crawford as a manager and think you had the better head to head record in 2010-11 too. But that doesn’t change the fact that he shat the bed 4 times against an absolutely terrible Dunfermline side last season. Even lost 2-0 to us when Hughes was in charge.
  6. The man can’t even get Gary Oliver to score against Dunfermline. If it wasn’t for his goals against Dunfermline, I’m not convinced Oliver would still have a career in football. He’s also now brought Kennedy into 2 different clubs. Kennedy was summed up in the first half. He knocked the ball past Fisher, Fisher put his arm out, touched Kennedy’s chest and he just stopped and let the ball roll out for a goal kick. Pathetic wee guy. It’s interesting that McPake said we identified back post at corners as a way to get chances. Then McGlynn cries about that. Maybe he should look at why they created no chances, despite having 11 corners and much more possession. Yes, we defended well. But his job is to set the team up to score goals. At no point today, did Falkirk seem to have any idea of how they were going to create chances. Just short passes around the back and aimless punts forward. But he’s trying to blame Dunfermline for winning and not just letting them win? It’s just weird.
  7. But they won the corner stat 11-3. We came for 0-0 (as he said about 10 times), but had 4 shots on target before they finally managed one in the 94th minute. He’s just a sad, bitter man. He and his team got it wrong, but he can’t admit that. Moaning about Dunfermline trying to make things difficult for them. Isn’t that kind of what every team wants to do for their opponents? Really bizarre stuff. Did he think we should have just let them walk through us?
  8. Nice to see the club’s Twitter taking a dig at McGlynn’s pathetic interview.
  9. Defenders at a higher level wouldn’t allow that to happen. So that sort of routine would be rubbish there. Our coaches put a big emphasis on set pieces and it sounds like they identified the back post at corners as a way to hurt Falkirk and it worked. Doesn’t make them geniuses, there’s a reason our manager/coaching staff are at this level too. It just highlights how poor Falkirk’s set up at defensive corners is. The reason I mentioned the zonal marking, is because we had 2 players unmarked out of the 4 we had in the box, as the ball came in. McPake seemed to suggest that he’d seen that set up when analysing Falkirk and what happened is what was expected. On the goal specifically, I’d assume that McGinn or Donaldson (potentially both) should have been covering that ‘zone’ but both looked lost/confused as Wighton had a free header.
  10. It was quite bizarre. They were zonal marking right on the 6 yard line. Everyone seemed to run towards the front post and Wighton had an unmarked diving header 4 yards out at the back post. From memory, we had 4 players in the box, one of them not being picked up by one of the 8/9 Falkirk players in the box is mental/inexcusable. Regardless of whether it was a well worked routine or whatever, that’s horrendous defending. Think it was Donaldson that was responsible for back post - he was the nearest man anyway.
  11. John McGlynn was the only manager in the league last season that didn’t manage to win a single game against Dunfermline.
  12. A foul for time wasting? That would be a new one. We didn’t commit many fouls, that’s the pretty simple reason there weren’t many given against us. The ref did miss fouls for both teams, but he definitely did referee the same for both teams. Desperately clutching at straws to suggest otherwise. Are you at the wind up? You’re complaining about Falkirk not getting free kicks for time wasting(?) and claiming that the referee favoured Dunfermline. In your next paragraph you then try to argue you’re taking the defeat well?
  13. McPake said post match that they knew Falkirk use zonal marking at set pieces, so the coaches got the players to practice that routine this week. So it seems quite likely that was the plan. That’s the issue with zonal marking. Defensively, nobody is responsible for any player. I’m not a fan of zonal marking at all. Our game plan seemed to be to try and get set pieces/long throws. Until we were already 1 up, we created nothing in open play. So we must have seen something in our analysis of Falkirk to suggest we’d be able to score from a set piece.
  14. Conveniently ignoring McGinn, Nesbitt and your number 5 (Henderson?) getting away with dragging players back once they’d got past them, no bookings for them. Kennedy, Morrison, Nesbitt and Burrell going down all the time as well. Both teams were at it. Your number 5 also went down screaming for a free kick when he misjudged a high ball in the centre circle and Wighton got on the end of it. Are you going to criticise Falkirk for these tactics too? Should the referee have dealt with the Falkirk players, or just the Dunfermline players? Cause he was equally bad for both teams. Both teams were deploying these tactics. In fact, you see the same tactics worldwide. Not just in Scottish football. Dry your eyes, you lost and the blame lies with your players/manager. Stop looking for someone else to blame/criticise.
  15. Passing it around the back and hitting aimless punts forward all game is better? We did that under Hughes last season and got relegated, because we played for possession, rather than trying to score goals. Most games went like that one did for you today. You created absolutely nothing, despite having so much of the ball and are trying to claim you were the better team. This might surprise you, but you need to create chances/have shots at goal to win games. You didn’t do any of that. I would 100% rather watch my team win, than watch them aimlessly pass the ball about the back, creating no chances in the entire 90 minutes. Particularly in such a big game.
  16. That was like being an opposition fan when Hughes was in charge of us last season. Falkirk had so much of the ball, but it was all passing it about the back, creating absolutely nothing. We took our chance and won the game. Todd also should have added a second. Falkirk passed it about, with no real plan on how to actually score a goal. You can slag off our style of play all you like, but we actually had a plan to try and score. Falkirk didn’t seem to have a clue and just passed the ball around the defence, before hitting aimless punts forward all game. Is that really ‘attractive football’ or playing ‘the right way’?
  17. To be fair, I wasn’t actually serious about the 1300. I just know Falkirk fans love a good crowd w**k and made up lies (like saying you had 2k fans there) after they came to East End. I’m pretty sure you had 1500-1600 there. There were a lot more gaps in the stand than a blurry picture from the other end shows. If you have say 20 rows of 20 seats and average 15 people in each row, as long as the gaps aren’t in the same place in each row, that section will look full in a picture like that, despite only being 75% full. It was a good crowd you brought through. But it honestly wasn’t as high as you seem to think. There are a lot of visible gaps in the two sections furthest to the right and a few in other sections, which tells you the top section was nowhere near the 84% full that even your 1800 estimate suggests, never mind 2000 fans, which would be 93% full. There’s a few hundred empty seats in the section on the right alone. You brought a decent crowd, why not be happy/proud of that, rather than inflating the figures for your own egos?
  18. More than 1500 sold in the away end now. Which is more than the 1300 that Falkirk brought to East End earlier in the season. Good effort from the Pars fans, no doubt be close to selling out the north stand come Saturday.
  19. Credit to Montrose. They played well yesterday and thoroughly deserved their win. The move for the first goal was really good and they could have scored more. Yes, we missed chances too. 2-0 maybe did flatter Montrose, but they did deserve the win and created more chances than I think anyone else has (except maybe Falkirk?) against us this season. Don’t want to be disrespectful and focus on the negatives from a Pars perspective, as you guys genuinely played well. Having said that, I did think we were poor. Don’t know if it was tiredness, due to the midweek game and having such a small squad. Regardless, we lost to the better team and need to pick ourselves up and sort it out next week.
  20. So, to be fair, he’s playing on the right of a back 3 for us. So he obviously gets away with drifting wider in that system. Not seen him in a back 4, so can’t comment on that. He’s good at moving wide when we have the ball, to spread the play and covering for the RWB when defending. Hopefully he continues to do well for us and improves as a player for when he returns to Dundee. Would make it a successful loan move for all parties.
  21. Not sure how interested many of you will be in this, but Sam Fisher has been excellent for us. Started the last 3 games and been rock solid defensively. He’s also good at driving the team forward with the ball. We’ve kept clean sheets in all 3 games as well. Admittedly, not all down to him, our back 3 have all been very good - and we had 5 clean sheets in 8 games before he came into the team. But he has come in and improved an already impressive defence. Physically, he hasn’t lost a single battle. His positioning has been very good and his timing of the challenge has been great. It’s been noticeable that both Edinburgh at the weekend and Clyde midweek wanted to test him early on, then rarely went down his side at all in the second half after he dealt with everything easily. His ability with the ball has been a great asset. He’ll carry the ball forward and, if needs be, put crosses into the box - his cross forced a Fontaine own goal last weekend. Its only league 1, so I’m sure Dundee fans will have their concerns about the legitimacy/relevance of these performances. It’s also a very small sample of games and we haven’t seen how he handles mistakes/poor performances that will inevitably come. But I think you’ve got a very good defender on your hands.
  22. Parry (36), McLean (37), Thicot (35), Gomis (37). Do they really need more old heads? When you add in Peter Grant, who can’t run, I’d argue that their defence was far too old/immobile last night. Gomis’ legs are gone too. It’s just a very imbalanced squad, rather than one lacking experience. I’d guess it’s probably the oldest squad in the league. In comparison, the oldest player at our club is 30 and our manager is around the same age as 4 players that started for Clyde. At 28, Joe Chalmers is the 2nd oldest outfield player at our club. 3rd is Todorov at 26.
  23. 1-1? We don’t concede goals away from home, so 0-0 is the only way you’re getting a point. In all seriousness, it’s a massive game at the start of next month. I’d expect both teams to get at least 4 points from their next 2 games. If we can beat you at TFS, we’ll be in control, but any complacency and I’d expect you to take full advantage. Injuries/suspensions concern me, but I think all teams have similar depth issues right now.
  24. He actually looks like Mehmet did for us last season. In fact, Clyde remind me of us last season. Peter Grant Sr was probably watching his sons last night, thinking Danny Lennon was doing a great job.
  25. Looking at Clyde, I can’t see that side staying up. There’s just such a lack of quality. The back 3 were all horrendously slow/immobile. You’d also repeatedly try and play it out from the back, but as soon as they were under any pressure, they’d just punt it anywhere. You just can’t play that way, with players like that. Of course, they’re not helped by Parry looking like a bombscare. He kept coming out and missing several crosses - particularly at corners and long throws and his distribution was horrendous. Kept playing his defenders into trouble, or just giving us the ball. Gomis’ legs have gone. You could see he still has a footballing brain, but he can’t run and struggled to have any influence. Chalmers was outpacing him. Your number 10 looked alright in flashes when running with the ball, but his end product was really poor. Up front, your striker’s first touch was horrendous, so he couldn’t hold it up at all and our defenders didn’t really have to break sweat to deal with him. Obviously, this is just based on one game. That may not reflect the actual abilities of these players. From a Pars perspective, back 3 solid again. Fisher looks fantastic in that back 3. Comrie had a good game at wing back. Chalmers was my man of the match. He’s a totally different player this year. Wighton is genuinely getting better every game just now. We played good stuff at times and we’re unlucky not to score more. Hit the bar from one set piece. Wighton came close twice and McCann had a good chance. Mochrie and Edwards seem to have a really good understanding down the left hand side. Good link up play between the 2 that created space/chances.
