  1. I am not entirely sure as we haven’t received the documents through yet. I’m just basing the figure on what the bank had sent us back in January time about what our repayments would go up by. I think they do that on the basis we just carry on automatically.
  2. I don’t know about the change in variable rates but your second part is what I’m thinking ie how much extra will I pay a month and what will the interest rates go down to and when. If they even go down. 2 years fixed at 4.04% might be a better shout but who knows where the world will Have taken us by then?
  3. Yeah good shout about food bags. In still coming to terms with having killed most of my tulip display that cost me £70 and just praying my lilys come up.
  4. When I said £550 additional I meant from my original term I’m coming out of not the difference between variable and fixed rates so the difference between variable and fixed rates would be about £300 a month. It’s a bit complicated because I have two parts to mortgage as I moved house during a fixed rate term and had to take out a second part to cover the difference between the properties of that makes sense. The second part has gone up in January by nearly £200 and we’d got a letter from our mortgage provider saying when our main fixed term comes to an end and we were to go on a variable rate we would be paying an additional £350 on that part alone but I can’t remember what the specified rate was.
  5. I can get a fixed rate term of 4.04 % for 5 years meaning my repayments increase by 30% a month (£235 increase) or go on the variable in the hopes it will come down and initially be paying about £550 additional in the hopes of a dramatic fall coming before 24 is finished which I just can’t see happening.
  6. Does Don Webley drive about in a blue Audi, possibly an A3 with one of those exhausts that sounds like an automatic rifle is being deployed on the general public? I could have sworn I saw him terrorising the poor pedestrians around bruntsfield yestedsy.
  7. I have paid off my car after having it on pcp for 3 years and then a loan to pay off the balance and it hasn’t caused me any trouble since I first got it in 2018 expect for tyres being changed.
  8. Yeah thats a good shout and should have realised this was the issue a year ago and sorted it because it’s going to be November when I get round to fixing it. That’s how it looks and when I moved house the garden had a dip in the corner where border is but as it’s at bottom of a slope it just holds water. Think I need to raise level to top of the post and add gravel as you said and it will be alright for next year. I did what you described with lilys at back and put them on a ease of gravel/sand then mixed the compost up with grit and sand on top of it and the back of border doesn’t hold water so I’m pretty confident they are going to come up.
  9. I could just throw a thermal blanket over the thing when it’s freezing. It froze the first night I had it and it’s going to reach 0 tonight and Monday by looks of it and I don’t have anything in place yet. By time I sort stones out the frost will probably have gone. When I felt the soil after the first frost it wasnt even cold to touch so I highly doubt anything died. I’ve added bits of cardboard and some glass wool to the set up. I might do another scrounge around when I’m next on a building site to get a bit more thermal mass.
  10. I could try the stones I suppose. i know it’s not much of a greenhouse but it’s just to get the dahlia a bit of a head start as last year I planted them in mid April and some of them weren’t flowering til September and my garden looked fairly colourless early summer. My tulips are planted at the front of my border which sits right at the bottom of the slope from my garden and I’m worried the water has just sat there too long and rotted them. I am going to raise the level a bit which will require more top soil so it doesn’t happen again next year and then hopefully I’ll get the display I wanted but I have a feeling I have drowned a good £50 worth on tulips over the winter.
  11. It’s ridiculous just how ignorant some people can be. I’m going through a phase of absolutely everything annoying me right now and am not facing the general public today.
  12. I know there’s a specific thread about motorists being annoying but why is everyone else except for me it seems so absolutely stupid when it comes to putting air in their tyres? Whenever I’m queuing for air I am always behind some briandead idiot who takes about half an hour , makes repeated journeys to each tyre - alters the eir pressure on the screen on each tyre and goes into their car and sits down for a break before getting back out to work again. Yesterday I was behind a guy who did all of this and when he was done he actually went into the shop whilst leaving his car sitting in the only air space and then when he got back into his car he sat on his phone. I stick the pressure to 33 psi then make one journey to each tyre then I’m gone - probably takes me about 90 seconds.
  13. It’s not too bad - as long as a bit of sun goes into the plastic it will enhance the light and heat a bit and get the plants going. Im A bit worried my tulips aren’t making much progress as I think the soil is too damp for them. Nothing is ever straightforward.
  14. Yeah it’s attached pretty well to the fence - It was windy when I was erecting it so I am very aware how aerodynamic it is. Hopefully it gets the dahlia a good head start as some of them didn’t start blooming until September 23.
  15. I got a plastic greenhouse from dobbies for £30 yestedsy so I could plant my begonia and dahlia in nice and early. Has anyone else got one? I have added a few bits and bobs to try and keep it a bit warmer inside as it isn’t the most robust thing going but it has more area than the glass ones which were more expensive. It froze over last night and the soil didn’t feel cold So I assume my plants survived.
  16. I couldn’t help but buy another 5 lilys today from Asda so I now have 38 of them planted in the garden. I think I need banned from buying bulbs and tubers for my own good.
  17. I haven’t tried mortonhall but been pentland plants a lot - I’m not overwhelmed by PP if I’m honest. I want to try the big one on Dunbar at some point. I had some lovely dinner plate dahlias from Waitrose last year that I chose not to buy when I was in there on Sunday but I think I’ll get them next time I’m round that way and that will be the last of the bulbs I buy. I bought some lovely looking lily from b and last week and by time I got to planting them I noticed they were completely rotten and I hadn’t got a receipt.
  18. I’ve been into it since lockdown which was the first summer I had a garden to myself. I’m in my second house now and moved house April time so summer 22 I didn’t get much chance to prepare a decent garden and it’s only now that my garden is looking like the finished article so I have high hopes for this year. Im not quite sure what part of it I’m obsessed with, I think it’s the anticipation and the satisfaction of seeing plants poking out the ground that does it for me so this time of year is the most exciting. By time it’s late summer and everything in full bloom I take less interest. My mind is rarely on anything else rather than the garden and how I’m going to arrange things out there, it’s definitely not normal.
  19. That is of course hilarious but to answer your yes I have been busy in garden - I thought 24 lilys, 7 dahlia, 16 begonia and 5 bare root lupine off farmer Gracy in the new year. I planted all the lilys in my border a week ago Sunday, I didn’t have luck with lilys last year and after watching several YouTube videos on it realised that I’d soaked them too much so this time round I prepared some gravel at the base of them and then mixed up some grit in the compost I was planting them in to help drainage. I also bought 9 additional lilys when passing a garden centre that I planted in pots and also potted up my bare roots in them this week. Im going to wait til April before planting my begonias and dahlias, I’m thinking of getting a couple of half barrel planters from dobbies as they’re on sale for £15 just now. Im certainly suffering from garden obsession and my mrs getting annoyed about it.
  20. Sounds like the perfect set up for a swingers party surely?
  21. I had actually meant to say Matty - I have never met a Marty before.
