  1. Linlithgow Thistle and Linlithgow Rose CFC were derby rivals at amateur. That continued when in Junior, added with the change of name. The conspiracy theories are becoming obsessive and well past boring now.
  2. All the public attempts at slandering Athletic reflects badly on Bo’ness United. Instead of rising above it, like Athletic are doing, all it portrays is a sense fear.
  3. No, he means the upgrades that will be announced soon... Clueless...
  4. The fact BU sent a damning email round all clubs in the association trying to get clubs to vote against BA application, which clearly didn’t work, is as embarrassing for their club as this Chairman’s article. Acting childish throughout and washing laundry in public, where clearly anyone outwith the BU office bearers and a small number of BU supporters, will find tedious at best, is another demonstration of how little anyone actually cares. Athletic have risen above all this petty “what if they start a treasure chest” nonsense and focused on the development of their club... and maybe ... just maybe... that is why other clubs voted to have them in the East of Scotland. Let them play football.
  5. No suitable nominated home ground. So, if BU Juniors weren’t rebranding and applying to the East, BU would have likely been looking at the real prospect of ground sharing with either Syngenta (now found a ground sharing home elsewhere) or Sauchie Community as EOSFL teams at Newtown Park, with the landlords commercially bound to plug the gap in income, previously being received from the Juniors.
  6. If only everyone knew that BU never wanted to, or indeed signed the MoU offered by BUJFC. Barriers put up every step of the way. Perhaps that’s the mistake of BUFC. Linlithgow Thistle could’ve and perhaps should’ve came in as Bo’ness Thistle at that stage. The proposed new club only requires acceptance by Newtown Park Association, as landlords of the park, exactly the same as BUFC, to have priority on the use of the stadium on particular days. If that’s the case, then rejection and objection by East of Scotland teams will need to be two fold on both the new club and BUFC.
  7. Can’t see it. Guys that run them are Bo’ness men. If accepted, why the outreach programme?? Nothing to stop them rising through the leagues as a separate entity.
  8. Majority of Bo’ness people still associate themselves with West Lothian! West Lothian postcode, West Lothian phone number...
  9. No firm commitment disclosed but likely Bo’ness Juniors will apply to EoS - seems to have went down quite positively with the locals after the local press covered the story
  10. Not for believing that! 1. If it was the intention all along, they could have just become a tenant with NPA at Newtown Park as “Bo’ness Thistle” (from Linlithgow Thistle) and went EOS in the first place, without having to discuss anything with BU. 2. If you look back, the “backer” and main sponsors have, on the whole, all been involved as sponsors of Linlithgow Thistle for many years before continuing sponsorship of BUJFC.
  11. Wasnt there so don’t know the detail of any commitments that were made. But surely you recognise that the football landscape has changed. Junior football is no longer an option. At least 2 amateur clubs already exist in Bo’ness. What if the amateurs, Cadora wanted to go to EOS and applied to the league? BU has no veto. The landlords of the stadium are the only ones with any say. I very much doubt there has been any financial impact to BU with BUJFC in the town. Likely this will continue if they were to step into EOS.
  12. I know that there was never any intention of BUJFC going to EoS or even going into the pyramid, even if en bloc under ERSJFA. They were set up to bring Junior football back to a staunch Junior town, with many people loving the grade. Without Junior game dissolving, what to do? Nothing sneaky or underhand at all. If they wanted to join East of Scotland, they could equally have asked Newtown Park Association to be a tenant as they did in order to go Junior. They’re a customer like any other club. If it’s not another senior or junior Bo’ness club asking, I’m sure an out of town club will be chapping at the door.
  13. With the East Region league inevitably dissolving, word on the street is that BUJFC will be rebranding and looking to go to EoSFL
  14. There never was nor ever has there been any link between Linlithgow Thistle and Linlithgow Rose. The guy that drove the Thistle is a Boness lad and had a good relationship with the old lead committee at BU and McGonigal. Player loans were common. Maybe BUJFC will apply to EoS under a different guise. Bo’ness Thistle mentioned? With that would be the end of any relationship (rhetoric or true) with BUFC, where token links have been visible (Kieran Anderson’s appearance for BUJFC for match fitness last season, for example). MoU can be forgotten and they’d be in direct competition both in terms of on the park and financial. With their drive and major sponsorship, who knows where that could go. Does the town need that? Not in my opinion but where do they go? Interesting next few months to see what direction they choose when, inevitably, the Junior FA crumbles.
  15. With significant travel to some away games in the Lowland, anecdotally I’m aware quite a few of the punters will be sticking closer to home. Look forward to seeing the next game between Real BU v Atletico BU as you put it. oh...and Lowland League forum for your pish.
  16. Will be interesting Dave. A very young side. Currently a number of defenders out injured and a make shift defence, which might explain the goals conceded!! Albeit only a friendly, they ran BU seniors close with 2 penalties the difference to secure the Lowland League side a 3-2 win. The football being played will definitely be entertaining for the Bo’ness contingent that choose to stay at Newtown every other Saturday.
  17. Couple of the senior players got the second half of the Juniors friendly
  18. Just don’t get the vitriol... Amateur Clubs fold... “sign of the times. Guys not interested in playing football on a Saturday anymore. All the best.” Junior Clubs fold... “all about money. If they don’t get crowds over the line, there’s no income. We should support our local clubs as the heart of our communities.. All the best” Junior Clubs move to East of Scotland... “great vision by the Club. Sign of intent. Hope the locals get begins them.” Amateur Clubs move to Juniors or new Junior Club formed ... “just an amateur club. Junior leagues are finished.” Respect for all clubs. Takes a great deal of commitment and dedication behind the scenes. If the East Juniors is eventually consumed by the EOSFL, surely these ‘new’ clubs have “cut their teeth” in a semi-professional environment to which to further themselves.
  19. Current BU Juniors that have played with BU: Gribben Robb Lemetti Daramola Some turnaround in the Juniors squad with new higher calibre youngsters and, admirably, 6 Bo’ness lads involved. All bodes well for BU seniors if these players continue to progress and develop.
  20. Bo’ness v Linlithgow at anything is a huge rivalry and draws crowds
