Not to mention AJ's stats include us as a full time team in the league below. GN's doing fine lets just go out and support the guy and his team.

Yeah, that's  why i left him out just wanted a comparison of managers with a decent amount of games in the champ.

Wage bill is key though. I'd imagine GN's wage bill is the second lowest on that list.

I'd still take a guy relieved of his duties this week as it happens, but I see no pressing need.

For me Naysmith has had to 'manage' in far more difficult circumstances in their qos spells than AJ. I've seen nothing in their respective managerial careers to date that suggests AJ is a better manager than GN.

Random stats below as i was interested.

    Average qos ppg:

    Jim McIntyre = 1.56

    Kenny Brannigan = 1.50

    Gordon Chisholm = 1.44

    Gary Naysmith = 1.44

    James Fowler = 1.36

    Gus Macpherson = 1.00

  3. Criteria not out of reach if the board were ambitious in terms of youth development and if they had someone of suitable knowledge and drive to move it forward. Current set up doesn’t have a full time member of staff in place to drive it forward like most clubs do.  Most youth / community set ups now have charitable status. Queens aren’t serious enough about either if you compare to other clubs.  Only people at queens paid full time in community / youth are Eddie warwick and Danny Armstrong.  Neither have experience or knowledge to drive this forward like other clubs do.

What other clubs are you comparing us against?
  4. Absolutely.
Would have brought much more to the team than McFadden.
Funnily enough stumbled upon a Sheffield Utd v Swindon play-off match from 2015 the other night which included 2 wonderful crosses from Bob that resulted in 2 goals,
Glad to be reminded what a wonderful delivery he has.

Aw so it's bad management for us to sign a 30+ injury prone forward but also bad management for us not to sign a 30+ injury prone left back. I understand.
  5. I understood Dobbie said his main aim on returning was to try to get us into the Premiership. I think I have also read the directors saying that the aim is to at least finish in the top 4 and, hopefully, win promotion via the playoffs.

People representing the club are in a no win situation if they come out and say "we've got around the 7th highest budget in the league so that's our barometer" the usual suspects would be accusing them of having no ambition.

We had the 9th highest average attendace in the league last year so i can't complain with having the 7th higgest budget this season.

  6. End of first quarter and the highest ranked team we’ve beaten so far is 7th. 3 wins and a draw against the bottom 4.  We’ve taken 2 points from the games against the top 5.

I'm not sure it's worth reading into it in this much detail after the first quarter.
Generally you'll find up to the 20-30 game mark the teams below you you've beat and the teams above you haven't.

Looking back Morton at home is the only game I'm really disappointed with. Disappointed with yesterdays result but i was expecting a lot more from the pars so i'd have probably took a draw before the game.

Ignoring performances, losing away to St Mirren, Dundee Utd and drawing away at Livi don't have me banging my head against the wall.

That said I didn't and still don't expect us to finish 4th or above this season so maybe i've lower expectations.

A few years ago Scotland were playing in Norway and a small local team changed their usual kick off day/time to coincide with the visiting fans arrival.
They got a couple of hundred extra fans for little effort.

That's where my thinking came from regarding Heston etc, football fans like a bit of novelty value and away fans are a captive audience the longer they're at Palmerston the more money they'll spend.

  8. I think we're in a slightly different position though. We already have a number of email addresses from other sources and things like season tickets, hospitality customers etc would be built up over time, rather than one huge job.

It must be a pretty comprehensive email if it takes that long to put together. A newsletter type email might be worth looking into but I think we have easier things that could be done and put together a lot easier.

To get this system off and running could a subscibe option be put on the site and rather than the laborious task of creating a newsletter the pdf of the previous weeks programme be sent out?
I wouldn't have thought it would dampen sales too much and if it does scrap it and you've still got your system populated.
  9. Just caught up on the last couple of pages. Couple of points/suggestions..

To try and increase gates how about making use of the pitch and adding a bit of novelty have Heston play their league game at noon. That way people can watch two games for the price of one. (May appeal to away fans also)

    Copy st mirrens idea of
having a beer tent and bbq outside the ground before and after the match, perhaps even have some local bands playing in it. Not an idea for every week but against a Brechin or a Dumbarton at home perhaps.

I see Hearts have teamed up with Edinburgh Rugby recently offering joint ticket deals.
Would it even be feasible to have the saints or the recently formed american football team to play at noon.

  10. Greg Kiltie was called up several times for the u19's whilst on loan to us 2 seasons ago. Jamie MacDonald was definitely called up for the 21s whilst on loan to us too. Thinks Jamie Adams might have been also. Edited to add - Steven Black played at schools level. So did Dan Orsi. I think Craig Neill also played for Scottish Schools at least once more recently than those two.

This topic brought me in mind of this article where a few ex queens players mentioned.

  11. In every interview I've heard with a manager or player this season top four finish has been the stated aim when questioned.

I suppose they could mention their 3 year plan on the OS, but I'm assuming we all know the jist of the high level aims.

Ideally = promotion while breaking even.
Mid table championship while breaking even = acceptable.

    Yip.

Not much there about raising money to give to the club.  Rightly so.

Again I'm fully behind the theory of not just giving the club the money with nothing in exchange.

My point is where the shares come from.

While those aims are undoubtedly worthwhile, there's no mention of buying 1000 shares through whatever means necessary.

It does seem as though I've got the agenda of the trust wrong in my head.

I'm glad I brought the subject up on here.

I see it more as a way of organising supporters to provide a platform.

Whether that platform is then used to support the aims of the club's leadership, or to challenge them, is at the discretion of the membership, I'd have thought.

    JTulip can maybe clarify.

Thats how I see it as well. I'm really questioning what's the best strategy, buying tens of shares privately or saving the money until such a time when the board can't refuse a share issue or are more welcoming to fan representation.

I'm glad we have a strong well run trust, should the worst happen we're already better prepared than last time.

Surely a share is a share regardless of where it comes from.

If the aim of the Trust is to obtain 1000 shares then it shouldnt matter where they come from, assuming they are paying the going rate.

If its waiting for the club to simply create more shares then the original 1000 figure becomes meaningless as the whole share profile will have shifted.

(ie I used to have 25 shares, but after the club did a rights issue (or whatever it was called) I suddenly had 250)

I understand that argument but if the money raised by the trust is being used to buy shares from individuals then what benefit is that to the club?

When the supporters trust and save our south started up I assumed we'd be slowly investing in the club in return for shares. If there's no shares available then the money gets saved until there is.

When the club was struggling for cash a few years ago it was solely reliant on the generosity of a few individuals and the barflies, travel club etc bailing them out.

I had hoped that the trust would have plenty of money in the bank as a safety net should we fall on hard times again. It would then step in with a share issue done in return.

    Hi Senior_Coconut,

The Queens Trust currently has 924 shares. 804 of these were bought direct from the club until the club ran out of shares. It has been the Trusts aim to get to 1000 shares. It it is one of the main powers of the Trust to buy and own shares in the club.

We have members who see this as very important and have made it clear they do not want the Trust money to go to the club or for the Trust to be seen as a cash cow and others who probably feel the opposite and want to see all our money go directly to the club but to be honest I have not heard from any of them. So there is a bit of a balance to strike but by quite some distance I would say the vast majority of the Trusts money and efforts since the Trust has started has gone towards the club. However we feel that slowly strengthening the Trust and reaching our targets is also important. So we have agreed recently on the purchase of some more shares that will help us reach our goal of 1000 shares.

We have not been told of the club reclaiming any shares and making them available to the public for sale but it does appear on the clubs shareholder list that the number of deceased and unknown shareholders has been decreasing so maybe some have been reclaimed by the club although all shares do seem to be allocated.

Hi, thanks for the reply, I'm not keen on the trust being used as a cash cow by the club but I'd rather the money was held/saved until the opportunity to purchase more shares directly became available rather than giving the money to a third party. Seems a waste.

You are asking a specific question and wanting opinions on it. Why don't you ask the trust first, get an answer then ask opinions?

I don't see the problem with having this discussion here, I assume JTulip doesn't either.

I don't have a hidden agenda I'm happy to have my mind changed on this.
