  1. Wasn't too impressed with the karaoke episode, which is a shame as some of the song choices were absolutely spot on for that sort of gathering. The underlying story just didn't have enough for me. The one next week looks really promising though.
  2. Last night's was extremely dark right enough. Great humour early on with the insanely elaborate crossword clues and then a slide into a really grim scenario. I thought it was great.
  3. I thought it was a pretty good opener, while being no classic. Very pleasing that it's back on and that they're currently filming the fourth series.
  4. How do they keep coming up with these hilarious ideas? Judy Murray meeting Frank McAvennie, sure to be comedy gold. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-38421829
  5. Maybe a bit like Pearl Harbour, a kick in the nuts for the opposition but the top targets weren't there at the time.
  6. I've only caught the second episode and it seems not bad. Not sure if I'll persevere though. If that waitress in the hotel isn't actually a fella I'll be very, very, very surprised.
  7. To be fair, I used to watch it out of morbid curiosity as well, knowing fine well it would be dreadful. Can't do it anymore now though, as it's just too depressing that it gets on every year and the lack of originality, or even any kind of intelligent humour, is so damning for the state of Scottish TV comedy.
  8. I thought the Close Encounters stuff was honking and it pissed me off.
  9. Yes, it's a curious one. The UFO stuff seems to be recurring as well and I can't imagine what they're doing with that.
  10. Plenty of surprises in that one. I like the unpredictability.
  11. Considering the previous successes of disguising themselves as the undead, it's surprising they haven't done it more often to escape desperate situations.
  12. Talk of The Devil http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/latestnews/2015/inside-no9-returns-bbc-two?ns_mchannel=social&ns_campaign=bbc_press_office&ns_source=twitter&ns_linkname=corporate
  13. I'm pretty damned sure there won't be any supernatural element. Doubt we'll see anything else like that occurring again, though we may get a similar scene in the final episode. I suspect it could be a nod to the Carter/Reagan years when UFO sighting was a big deal. Jimmy Carter himself registered a sighting before he was President. Really enjoyed the opening episode, looks like they got the tone bang on again.
  14. I'm pretty sure a third one is in the works.
  15. The final brief monologue by writer/director Louis Malle at the end of Au revoir les enfants is something that gets to me every time. I remember watching The Elephant Man in a fairly empty cinema near some girls that were in school with me. It took every ounce of effort to remain 'manly' at the end and not be seen to be shedding tears.
  16. Pretty good end to the series, really hope there's a third one.
  17. I enjoyed that one, good mix of humour and melancholy. The stuff about watching 'Countdown' on video was highly amusing.
  18. Another good episode last night I thought, even if there was clearly a cheat with a certain voice on the phone. I had no idea where it was going and was pleasingly caught off guard at the very end.
  19. I thought it was pretty good. The shift in tone from last week will throw a lot of people, but it's the nature of the beast and the variation from episode to episode is one of the things I like about it.
  20. I really liked last night's episode, especially the way all the Reece Shearsmith appearances made sense at the end.
  21. I found that distracting as well, pretty sloppy with the lighting. Re The Talking Dead after it, a statement from the producer said that 'man was the biggest threat in this season but won't be in the next'. Make of that what you will. He also said something about major set-pieces being worked on, but it would have been more surprising if he hadn't said that. For what it's worth, I'm still enjoying it and, although the finale could have been a bit more explosive, I think it came to a decent conclusion.
  22. I thought it was alright. Not even close to the strong opener of Sardines the last time, but the rest of the first series struggled to live up to that, so it was maybe a good idea not to begin with one of the best. A radio reviewer said the second episode was almost entirely serious with little humour, which should make it interesting.
  23. Looking forward to it. I'm fairly sure it'll be a little hit and miss, but the good stuff will hopefully be great.
  24. That's clearly going to score almost zero. The only way for the UK to get close to winning is to have a huge ballad, possibly climaxing with a massed choir of children, singing a song that is an apology for all the hideous things that the UK is perceived to have done over the last few decades, including (or maybe especially) the support of the Iraq war. If it was done right, that would win.
  25. I hope it doesn't go in that direction, I prefer Malvo simply being a mad b*****d. I thought the scene between Malvo and the old cop in the diner was another piece of brilliance.
