  1. Anyone who thinks a Group with the host country Germany and Europe's most improved side Hungary is going to be easy is fucking deluded. We're around Switzerlands level and I think we have a decent chance against them but we could quite easily get scudded in the other two. Especially if we don't have our best 11 fit and ready. Steve Clarke should be judged in how many tournaments we qualify for and if we give a decent account of ourselves when we get there. A decent account is playing well and not getting thumped by the big nations. Folk thinking ahead of this are the same types that probably thought Scotland were winning Argentina 78.

I take it back about Souttar.

Good footballer but had a mare tonight whereas Porteous and Hendry were both pretty solid, they deserve their place in Germany as it stands.

So they were right? You talk PISH?

Tbf I think Hutton was right when he said it was more a lack of understanding between the players when the subs came on. We need to work on that but it’s not a terminal issue.

No, there are far to many of the squad not of an elite standard. Souttar, Ralston etc aren't good enough.

Dunno, but then why are your support the self proclaimed Dundee 'haters', if we are such an irrelevance?

It's always been Dundee the place, not the club. It doesn't make that song any less embarrassing playground shite. Quite why you and your soon to be amalgamated brothers get it misconstrued is beyond me. Dundee as a club have been a complete irrelevance to me footballing and supporter wise. If push came to shove, in my lifetime(and I'm a fairly old c**t) the regions teams have been United>Saints>Dundee. With the Saints being far closer to United footballing wise than Dundee.

For me, it's good management. He knows both players probably most of any in the squad, so will know what kind of boot they need.

Neither for me, especially Max, can gave any arguments about not starting.

Some others need calling out to be fair, but slightly different situations as these two are still (for now) here for next season, whereas you call out others who will soon be out of contract, they might down tools and we need all of them for the run it.

Players need to step up and realise the club is in a massive risk of going down and do they (especially the Scottish ones,) want to be the ones to break the long streak we have been on in top flight?

For what it's worth, I don't think we go down even if we finish 11th (I don't think we'll finish 11th) as I think Utd will win the championship and we'd take Raith in the same way we beat ICT reasonably comfortably.  😎

It's fine having these conversations behind closed doors, I'm all for calling them workshy grifters to their face. Naming them in the press? What good does that do? It just leaves them open to abuse and folk will have a far shorter fuse with them.

What was wrong with telling them straight at training, then in the press saying "a few players fell well short of what was expected from them and they've been warned it better not happen again" ?

There’s a reason he’ll say something, and it ain’t for fans to latch on and start calling said players out.

And yet that's exactly what will happen.

It's fine saying these things to the players behind closed doors and expecting a reaction from them. It's totally different saying it in public. As soon as anyone deems their performance lacking in any way they will call them out on it whether they deserve it or not. Good or bad management? Time will tell.

  7. Wright was a settled manager with a relatively settled squad, these last few years we've had neither. Another thing about having an unsettled management team is that it really effects young players coming through. With Tommy he could tell Stevenson which areas of the side he would be looking to change and they'd release or introduce to the first team squad accordingly. As he did with Clark, Kerr, McCann etc. Callum fucked that in his time. I'd say Levein would be more like Tommy but I just can't see him hanging around long enough. I'm also not sure how I feel about that anyway.

What we don't want is releasing everyone at the end of the season and having to play all the youngsters again like what happened to Macca this season.

  8. In a better squad he'd have the leeway to improve, in the current Saints squad he's expected to be our main man. His last game tells you all you need to know about his skill level, great at turning players who get too close. Absolutely shite at 10 yard passes, shooting or clearances.  On Saturday there were about 3 times he attempted to clear and just hit the ball straight up in the air. That's a problem when it's in your own box.

The fact that he's actually one of our better players and most folk aren't bothered he's leaving says a lot for this squad.
