  1. We need a big personality to give us a lift. McCall came in, did a fans q&a and put everyone at ease. Said what was wrong with the squad and what he was going to do to fix it. He didn't turn things around and give us a new manager bounce but earned a bit of credit by the way he conducted himself. Kerr did the same but never came across as being particularly confident. Hopkin put walls up and never said anything other than football clichés. Never gave us any indication of why he was doing what he was trying to do or convince us it would work. We need someone that can calm fans down and give the feeling like they know what they are doing and they actually care about the team on the park. My list in order would be Hughes McCann Murphy Unless we can get McCall to do the double dirty and leave Thistle. Duffy being at the club in theory should help a wildcard appointment, maybe someone from English/Irish football or a younger manager, perhaps from a part time team. But he didn't fucking help with Hopkin.
  2. Who is available for free Hughes. East coast, does work for the SFA, left Ross County, might not want it. Won Trophies at clubs but had a mental spell at Raith. McCann, assuming central belt, was a bit mental at Dundee but did well at Inverness. Lennon, guessing still in Glasgow, comes with baggage, maybe not what we need just now. Would give him a chance. McInnes. Originally from Greenock, 10 years in Aberdeen so who knows. Not away from Aberdeen long enough to be job hunting at our level In work Murphy,Carlisle based. If we trained in Glasgow it might be viable for him to be at Somerset a couple of times a week. Maybe need someone more hands on Danny Lennon, been mediocre at Clyde. Bit of a basket case at times if I was Smith, I’d phone Hughes and McCann today, if they aren’t interested, leak it to the VOR that they have ruled themselves out. Saves fans from wondering what is going on. Then advertise it, have 2-3 people on the interview panel and make a joint decision. Combining it with aspects of the commercial role might not be a bad idea either.
  3. I was told he was when he signed and have never checked to see if it is true.
  4. You think he’d drop his boy? hes said he doesn’t want to manage any more
  5. Morton fans don’t like other people being happy. “Reluctantly” ? The tone of the announcement was far from reluctant
  6. He’ll make sure he’s on Championship Tuesday this week, along with whoever wants to flash their gusset at Dave Smith.
  7. Hughes was fucking mental at Raith. Proper divorcing dad, midlife crisis, conspiracy theorist wildcard whatever was wrong with him he is clearly through it.
  8. A round of applause for Dave Smith on Saturday. Just out of pure relief. then back to being cynical
  9. If we beat Dunfermline on Saturday, we’ll end up with who they don’t want as manager. I’d hope there were at least phone calls today
  10. Hughes and McCann are passionate and enthusiastic and I think that’s what we need right now
  11. I can see a few going off with stress and turning out for junior clubs in 6 months
  12. I was going to say, credit to the guy for stepping down but it looks like he’s walked while being heavily pushed. Kerr tried to do a good job and failed, everyone could see the effort he put in and he went with best wishes. I can not see any of they with Hopkin, stubborn and completely unaware, no improvement from day one. No engagement with fans and his biggest failing of all - after 18 months of not being at football, within 2 games he made me hate going to Somerset. If any club in full time football hires this man again then they have not been paying attention. if I was Smith, I’d phone John Hughes and Neil McCann today and sound them out. If neither want it or we can’t afford them, then advertise it.
  13. Gary Caldwell with Gary Locke and Lee McCulloch as assistants would improve us currently
  14. He was a classy player and from what I've seen of Annan they like to play football. Not exactly been successful but has been there for a few years now.
  15. At Duffys peak, he was average. A safe pair of hands. He’s been below average for a while now though. maybe Morton was the turning point. he’s the type of person you’d like to have behind a young manager. Moffat with Duffy as a coach/mentor. his association with Hopkins horrorball had binned that theory.
  16. Well, it was a penalty Baird is clearly pulling him back, altered the players path and the ref gave it. It wasn’t a phantom mistake and there was no contact
  17. If Smith has signed Hopkin and 4 coaches on a 2 year deal with no clauses, I guarantee Lachlan Cameron has given himself a hernia pissing himself laughing.
  18. There was a picture shared, maybe by the VOR, it was a penalty, Baird had a fist full of the guys jersey pulling him back as he was trying to make the header
  19. Just read Fjortoft’s interview with VOR ”it’s all about small margins and things just aren’t going for us just now” Can I suggest he stands on the north terrace on Saturday and sees what we see. He’ll maybe notice how fucking massive the margins are.
  20. I thought that most coaches would be on a rolling month to month contract in Scotland, like when we have coaches in to help out. I knew the manager and assistant would be on full time contracts. Most companies have a 13 week cooling off period after you join.
  21. Inverness and Ross county were hardly massive clubs when they joined the league and they both have been in and around the top 2 leagues for well over 10 years. Clubs like Airdrie, Stirling Albion and Clyde have gone the other way. Just because someone is backing them doesn't mean they aren't here for the long term. None are doing a Gretna and signing premier division talent to get them through the leagues, much the same as Inverness and Ross County didn't.
  22. Once some of the big junior teams hit the senior leagues it will shake a lot of teams up
