Has anyone visited the Vinohradský pivovar? It got mentioned in the Guardian this week as part of a typical click piece on good places to have a beer abroad; it's the first that the place has come to my attention. I'll be visiting Prague over the Christmas period and wouldn't mind visiting somewhere different alongside the likes of U Sudu and U Slovanské Lipy.

I've been once, the beer was ok but the place felt a bit soulless, smart enough decor but a bit soulless.

I used to go to this place every night after work, about £1.25 a pint

Prague hasn't been immune to the hipster pop-up boom but craft beer isn't something you would expect to sell well when you consider the great beers already on offer beyond Urqell, Budvar and Kozel.

I do however like this place,  and there is a sister shop 2 doors up that has the best hangover bursting soup

  2. The Czech top league are six games in so far. The traditional top three domestic teams, Slavia, Sparta and Viktoria Plzen all won the first four games but Slavia were the first to blink with a 2-0 defeat to Jablonec.

Sparta have since drawn two in a row putting them in fourth behind Menzels least favourite Czech team and apparent racists Ostrava, who have former Liverpool and Villa player Milan Baros.

This weekend, Slavia play Plzen at Eden and Sparta play bottom team Dukla.

Slavia signed mostly domestic based players in the window and have retained the bulk of last seasons squad, they were unlucky to go out of the Champions league to Dynamo Kiev, they dominated both legs and lost 3-1 on aggregate.

The early season form of Pepe Husbauer and Milan Skoda has been impressive, had Husbauer been playing like this 5 years ago he could have been playing for a bigger team in Europe.

How much money would be reasonable to change for two days out drinking in Prague?

Depends where you go, you are probably looking at 50Kc a beer in most (non tourist) bars in the centrum, I normally work out Kc at about 1000Kc to £30 so probably about £1.50 a pint.  It breaks my heart because I used to get a pint of Kozel for 17Kc

Irish/tourist bars you are looking at twice that.

Sticking to beer (no strip clubs/sports bars) and 48 hours of drinking you could spend less than £100

Murphy was good at the dark arts as well. He knew when to tug a jersey or give a push when the officials weren't looking. Geggan was doing that with Hippolyte today and getting a reaction.

I still love when Murphy got Joe Cardle sent off and you could see him chuckling as he walked away from Cardle. Class.

Speaking of Murphy, I see Annan have started pretty well 10 points from 4 games.

Remember him getting McCallister red carded in the last game of the season meaning he'd miss the play-off first leg

Then the second leg at Somerset, shouting at the ref "he keeps nipping me" like a 5yr old Lee Wallace.

  5. Seems odd that the DR is claiming to have known about it for some time yet they could have made the claims during the height of the #metoo movement and probably have done more damage.  He must be pretty sure of an exoneration by his statement.

The BBC article on it is as you would expect, his statement says he refutes all the allegations, some are ridiculous, the BBC's quote is "on the allegations", Salmond says some are ridiculous.

He came across as a bit of a creep during the indyref with his habit of hugging women, cheek to cheek in selfies but I imagine the accusations may be stronger.

Like a few famous people that have been accused, I hope it isn't true and like all accused he is innocent until proven guilty, if he is guilty, then he deserves everything he gets.

Only good thing about the draw is that it is next week, so only a week of being patronised by Rangers fans with “this is your cup final” pish
Then gloating when they pump us with a squad that cost x1000 more to assemble that ours

    25-27th September, so another month

    Ah f**k

  7. Hearts watched Shankland last season, could have had him for free in the summer and didn't go for him *or they did and he knocked it back), why would they spend £250k plus on him now ? Aberdeen free'd him a year ago, they aren't going to pay money to take him back. Hibs don't need him. No one else who would like him can't afford him and probably wouldn't turn his head.

The only danger I think we have of losing him is if either a foreign club from somewhere that interests him comes in or Rangers make a bid, I don't think the latter will happen because they will likely sign Lafferty and that will be more of a marquee signing than Shankland.

  8. We have recruited very well over the summer, not only in keeping Shankland. The signings of Smith and Harvie who have played in the Championship before,  been training full time and look committed to getting better have been hugely positive.

If players like Ferguson and McGuffie click the same way Crawford did and become consistent then we could have 8-9 players under 24 who could  carry the club for a few years, either in performances or transfer fee's.

  9. Does anyone remember big Ally Graham scoring a 30 yard screamer from the left wing (somerset road end) and then he turned round to the North Terracing and ran over celebrating while actually shouting to the fans "What a Fcuking goal" !!
    It was hilarious !!!

    I do
I also remember him hammering in a goal at the Somerset Road end, dropping his shorts and doing jazz hands to the Ayr support, fortunately he was wearing keks

One of the reports in the newspaper was that he had mooned the away support

Of course an English championship team would tempt him, it’s one league away from the premiership. If a team in that league makes a bid we can’t come close to competing with it.

There is no chance Shankland will sign an extension, just need to hope we get a fantastic season out of him and then send him on his way.

My point is there would be a small scope of teams both interested and interesting within the Championship for Shankland to move, the reality is every team could pay any realistic fee Ayr asked for and probably x10 his current wage. Doesn't mean he wants to move to Rotherham.

I very much doubt that rules out any English championship teams. The money down there is ridiculous.

100% of them could afford a fee and pay more money than Ayr are paying, but are they interesting enough of a team to tempt him away from Ayr, his home, his family, his girlfriends life etc ?

beat Dundee, get to the quarter finals and offer Moffat, Moore and Shankland 18 month extensions. At least guarantee us money and more importantly Shankland till the end of the season
