Didn’t know that personally about him but know for fact that there has been a few shambles over the years retaining talent. It’s different times tho and a whole different ‘ball’ game.

I think we need to move quickly in the season to have guys signed up next season, we are in danger of losing Forrest and Crawford again next summer for nothing, one of the biggest parts of bringing talent through at this level is the chance to make some cash from them. Two of our most prolific youth players could get to 24 and move upwards and we wouldn't see a penny.

True mate, think we burnt our bridges with a few from that era.

I don't buy in to that with him, he was offered a contract after the deadline to retain youth players and still decided to leave, one of his family was on (maybe) the honestpage complaining that the club was a shambles and they let him walk out the door to Stranraer, He could have stayed and chose not to.

  3. I don't think Mitchell has played regular first team football since he left Stranraer.

Hart wasn't a good goalkeeper at Ayr, he was highly rated at Annan when we signed him and perhaps stagnating on the bench for a year set him back.

His all round positioning and decision making was dreadful. I think some of the abuse he took was over the top  but very little of the criticism was, he was given his chance when Ruddy left and like most of the crosses near his six yard box, didn't look like ever taking it.

I hope he gets another club and proves us all wrong

  4. Last season we picked up Shankland on the eve of the start of the season so good business can be done any time.

If we weren't going to have Hart as first choice this season I'd have hoped that a keeper or keepers would have been identified by now, I'd rather have gone for a top part time keeper than a loan or average full time one personally.

I went to an ex-pats pub in Prague (not the one shown) and it was fucking grim. Wallpapering tables and plastic seats ... American football blaring out of every telly ... the food looked shite and everyone was smoking so much weed you could barely breathe.

Smoking is banned in pubs over there now fortunately

  6. Just seen that, someone also mentioned Hamilton but don't know if that's true or not.

That was me, based on McCalls comment of two premier league teams being in for him and if he stayed another year he could attract a better standard of premier league team

By deduction I figured they were talking about those two, with St Mirren not having a manager at the time
  7. Just watched McCalls Ecrepont interview.

He reminds me sometimes during interviews of Spud in Trainspottings interview where he rambles a bit and says far to much.

Yes, Young Fin, he is the best player in his, well, top six anyway, of players in the country.......at his age.........in his position.....that are called Fin......Fin Ecrepont.

Considering I'm the resident kit autist on P&B, what were the funkiest ones in the Czech leagues last season? Any clubs already announce their shirts for 18/19?

Despite having two iconic strips in Slavia and Dukla, Czech strips tend to be pretty dull, I'm quite fond of Hradec Kraloves though

I see that due to UEFA's new line in Champions League stupidity and the decent co-efficient of the Czech league at the moment, Viktoria Plzeň will go straight into the group stages and stand to earn about 15 million euros before they even find out who they'll face in the autumn. The prospect of Plzeň (or any other team in their position) being able to access such a massive, guaranteed sum is likely to massively distort the domestic league in the future.

Obviously I'd prefer it if it was Slavia, they will have to go through qualification to get to the champions league, they struggled to get any real quality to join them last year for champions league qualification, only Danny and Miro Stoch are still there, any money coming in from the champions league would most likely be "absorbed" by the parent company anyway

Slavia have a more diverse line-up than most Czech teams but Plzen are almost all CZ nationals so it would be a shame if they spunked the cash on some elderly duds like Slavia did.

  10. Might have a wee look for that place as  a venue for watching the CL final. Don't really want to end up stuck surrounded by stag do's or lads weekend types who are backing either team.

It isn’t stag party friendly and doesn’t have fold touting for it in the centrum so tends to be bellend free

Couple of tickets purchased for Dukla v Plzen on Saturday. Neither side has anything to play for with Dukla safe from relegation and Plzen now confirmed as champions. Will break up the time between the beer and the strippers I guess...

Will try and get a visit of St Cyril and St Methodius Cathedral before the game, might also try and visit the grave of Johnny Madden, the Scotsman credited as "The father of Czech football". The graveyard appears to be relatively close to my hotel.

If you re staying near there I would suggest popping in to http://www.expatsbbqbar.com/ It has a wanky name but doesn't really reflect the customers, The owner has to explain it to everyone which is why it doesn't work.

His reasoning is that, because the borders of CZ have been re-drawn so many times, almost everyone is an ex-pat....but to everyone else, it sounds like a place where a  bunch of semi-racist Brits drinking London pride and complaining about the locals. It isn't, it is mostly locals who like English football and American students watching college sports.

Very little in the Ayrshire Post. Junior cup final dominates the back page. McCall just encouraging fans to snap up season tickets ASAP and also saying how important the AU500 fund is.

it also says Michael Rose, Robbie Crawford, Declan McDaid, David Ferguson and Jamie Adams are next in line for re-signing talks meanwhile McCall is targetting a goalkeeper, two defenders and a midfield player.

ETA: I’ve basically fucking translated the AP word for word after pie and bovril said the image was too big to post buts it’s posted anyway. FML.

    2 Things

    1. No mention of Hart

    2. You have the same worktop as every Marriott bathroom in the world

Signing David Templeton would be fairly unlikely and fairly unnecessary but by f**k I'd love it

     Image result for henry templeton

Thinking of Henry I looked this up on Youtube, seeing Henry in full flight again, Tommy walkers air punch celebration, the best Ayr away strip ever, apart from the length of the shorts obviously, Ross Scotts moustache, Ally talking bollocks in the after match interview.
