  1. Proposed ban on outrageous costumes in Prague city centre

    https://praguemorning.cz/prague-1-wants-to-ban-outrageous-costumes/

They could jut announce a ban on c***s.

Every weekend I would see half a dozen folk dressed in a Borat mankini or a Pamela Anderson Baywatch outfit with fake pubes out the side. It wasn't funny or original and as unworkable the ban would be, I'd be 100% behind it.

The only time I thought, fair play was a stag do of maybe 10 guys, 9 were dressed as pilots, complete with Aviator sunglasses and flight cases, the groom was dressed as an air stewardess. I'd gladly have booted every one of them in the groin though.

There used to be a gold season ticket where you were in a box with other ticket holders (think about 10 or so) and had access to bar pre match, but no food.

Was that not the old supporters association? You paid a yearly fee that allowed you in to hospitality pre and post match for drinks and you could pay an extra £10 or £20 a game to watch from a box I think.
I may have made most of this up but I’m sure you had to be a paid member.

it kind of devalued hospitality slightly because you had people that had paid for corporate hospitality, all dressed up in a box and the other 4 were full of punters in Ayr tops.

If they've already been delivered probably expect them to be on sale for the last home game of the season, maybe even used for it? I suspect they'll be doing promo photos this week and released/unveiled next week.

Having strips out at the end of a season seems to be a good way to go about it based on last season.

Especially when you remember a time when they used to get one delivery of about 100 kits, normally about November, which sold out immediately.

This would be a lot more convincing if VOR hadn't had every single player, janitor and boot boy queuing up to suck Bullen's dick re: workrate and desire as well.

It’s a standard Monday morning copy, I stopped reading them 18 months ago.
I’m really enjoying my time at Ayr
Training is really hard and challenging
    Great bunch of boys
    Boys showed/need to show belief

  5. Bryden needs to have a think about his career, he’s not going to start as a forward and he’s going to be stuck doing spade work rather than playing to his strengths.
he’ll end up hitting 21 and getting freed and going junior unless he can tie down a role.
A loan where he can play regularly in one position could define his career.

  6. Next week I fully expect Queens Park to beat Arbroath and Morton to beat Raith. if we lose to Thistle and Inverness win at Dunfermline, It would put 5th place out of reach and mean that we would go in to the last day with Dunfermline on 43, Ayr 42, Inverness 41 and Queens park on 40.

If Dunfermline and Ayr both win, It would be Morton 47, Dunfermline 46, Ayr 45, Queens Park 40 and Inverness 38 going in to the final Friday.

If the latter happens,  Morton are away to Inverness and we play Dunfermline. so it would be about prize money from a higher finish rather than a shite shite season being extended by the play-offs

  7. Plenty of effort and heart today but not a lot of quality which has been the main drawback of the season.

Never looked like getting a towsing and might have caught them on the break but they scored at a time where it removed any hope of a win and they then managed the game well enough to see it out.

We need to focus on quality players in the summer, keeping Chalmers and bringing in another centre midfielder and forward that make us better must be key.

Shiny new stuff does help with the long term plans of the club and a majority of fans support it , Hub has brought in much needed income , new shop has more than doubled the sales , new hospitality going to bring in over 100% more than old suite , I would hate to think where this club would be without the funds being provided from the shiny new things

I agree 100% but there has got to be a balance. All the things above are only a success if people feel like they want to part with their cash in them. They rely on continued custom and football clubs rely on the loyalty of the support.

I'd say that fan engagement is at an all time low. 3 defeats in the next 3 games and folk will demand Mathie is out to explain what is going on again, the first time he's engaged with the support since the last time we were near the bottom. There has been nothing said at all about next season, no season ticket launch. Media content has dried up, its all a bit flat.

  9. Livi and Hamilton have shown that a manager and a group of players can come out of nowhere and get promoted, Billy Reid and David Hopkin/Martindale took unfancied teams up and kept them up thanks to other teams having nightmares in their debut seasons.

Airdrie probably have more chance against the Premier teams than they do against Thistle or Rovers so I don't think they will.

  10. A mate of mine is a Celtic fan and said that Brown was always making errors in interviews and once you hear it, you can’t stop hearing them.

It’s minor stuff but it’s quite funny. In the press conference the other week, one of the UWS guys closed out the interview by saying have a safe trip up and good luck. To which Brown replied “good luck”

He seems to be trying to get away from his Broony image and maybe be himself a bit more. Roy Keane spoke about Keano and Roy Keane being two different personalities.
He’s certainly Broony on the touchline. He’s confronted more referees in his short spell than Bullen ever did.

Re Dowds, is it possible for him to play with Thistle again in the playoffs? Tomi injured, if Graham picked up a knock say against us, our season ends but not in playoffs can Thistle extend his contract for a month and play him?
just curious if that is allowed (not extending I know that is possible) but could he play?

No, he cant re-register for Thistle. They would have had to have taken him back during the window.

It's not faux outrage, it's just bafflement that this is a comment made at 10am on a Thursday morning at not at 3am on a Sunday morning.

It is. A player who’d scored 16 goals in 72 games since joining Falkirk, joins Ayr and he could well beat that number in one short season since joining Ayr.
if you are befuddled and think I am drunk for suggesting that when he joined Ayr and we had no other viable options that we had to persevere with a forward with a scoring record of an average midfielder then I am calling Faux outrage.

He's the joint 4th top scorer in the league.  His goals per game stands up well to the rest of the top 5.

    Watt

12 goals in 33 games  = 0.36 goals per game

    Dowds

12 goals in 26 games = 0.46 goals per game

    Paton

16 goals in 33 games = 0.48 goals per game

    Moult

17 goals in 30 games = 0.57 goals per game

    Graham

18 goals in 31 games = 0.58 goals per game

At no point have I said he’s shite or doesn’t score goals, or I don’t want him to play for Ayr.

  14. 1 minute ago, Ayrmail said:

In your eyes I guess! Not to say I wouldn’t be happy for him to stay.
It is always more complicated players moving on. Mullen, Bell and Muirhead examples of that.

We could have made him an offer in January and at any point since, maybe we did and he wanted to wait until the end of the season, but he wasn’t scoring regularly and I’m not sure he’d be at the top of many clubs shopping lists.
if we haven’t convinced him in 8 months that his future is at Ayr then something has gone wrong. The only clubs that will pay him more money are Thistle and Raith. One of them has essentially given him the boot.

  15. 4 minutes ago, Thumper said:

    What?

He signed for Ayr when our forward options were Rose, McKenzie and Bryden. Akinyemi had left and we were desperate. We signed a guy who wasn’t good enough for a team that finished below us in the league last year and didn’t hit double figures in goals until this month, three of those came in the same game. I don’t think it deserves your faux outrage to suggest that he wouldn’t be a regular in some of the teams in this league.
Dowds needed games and we had no other viable options. It was a perfect storm.

Rose was absolutely guff against us on Saturday and I don't remember him offering anything in the cup game we played earlier in the season.

Took his two goals well against us in the previous games but they were gifts from us as opposed to him doing anything of note.

Any murmurings of where Dowds is ending up next? Was a lazy news report in Jan/Feb linking him with Kilmarnock but I've not seen anything since then.

Us hopefully. If we don’t sign him, it will be seen as a failure, Brown has said he wants to keep him, Dowds has said he has enjoyed his time at the club but has been non-committal.  He’s lucky he ended up at Ayr at the time he did because I’m not sure other clubs would have persevered with him at this level.
There are rumours that Raith have made an offer as well.

Comparing Stevie Bell and Jamie Adams to Nick McAllister is a far more grevious insult than comparing any given striker to Bryden.

Stevie Bell and Jamie Adams were absolutely fantastic servants for the club. Both were 10 times the player McAllister is.

I was saying he had the same will to win, not that he was in any way a competent footballer

The number of quality players we had in those few years, frightening to look back on now. McCowan was almost an after thought at the time but he did grow in to the team eventually.

As for Rose coming back next season, I would rather he did not🤣

I think that is maybe one of the reasons behind McCallister getting a new deal. He is a committed player, someone who wants to win. Stevie Bell and Jamie Adams were limited players who would run through walls to win, we also had quality like Kerr in the team and guys who were trying to prove a point.

We don’t have many winners in the team and haven’t for a few years. Dowds, McCallister, Dempsey, Bryden, Murdoch….

McGinty is a good captain, win, lose or draw, comes over to the touch line at the end of every game where the majority of the team are giving a golf clap in the centre circle. There are big strides that can be made in engagement.

What a fucking player Luke McCowan has become.

Travesty we never got a penny for him

I was thinking about him while watching the game tonight, I don’t have the same emotional connection with him as I do with Crawford or Forrest. I think it’s down to his breakout season being the Covid season when everyone was watching from A Pixelot stream.
