I don't understand why online sales would be closed at all if I'm honest.

It's because you need a physical ticket and ticket office is only open for a few hours tomorrow and of the day of the game. Suspect the club needs to get the physical tickets from Dundee.

In 2023/24, that a top flight club cannot do e-tickets is a bit of a nonsense to be honest.

  2. That was a truely horrific game of football. 2 poor teams, but arguably a worse set of officials.

Saints showing tonight and for first 2 mins at the weekend why we were in such trouble earlier in the season.

As for Livi, I fear for them. Some decent players and plenty of battle, but it's just not there for them and its not obvious how/if it can change. If we had really pressured Obileye, we'd have forced even more mistakes from him.

Feel for him, not up to the standard we need but no player should have their career halted by injuries as much as his has. Hope he finds a decent club after the summer.

I wouldn't wish ill upon him and genuinely hope he has a decent career, but for me, a lot of the injuries he has been out with are ones that others maybe would have just got in with. There's a balance to be had with throwing yourself into challenges and picking up injuries you play on with like Murray Davidson and being fragile for niggles like Cammy. Not saying this isn't genuine, but he's missed a huge amount of games I'm convinced he could have gotten himself fit for if he had enough hunger.

We're definitely still the team you should be aiming for, IMO.

The flaws in our squad are costing us points most weeks at the moment and without Nicky Clark we dont score nearly enough (his goal today is our first away from home this season, bar an own goal).

This game huge, and then the January window even bigger.

For Saints, this is a must not lose game. A draw just keeps things ticking along, keeps Livi in place and from there it is a case of getting to the window and break and fix the squad.

As much as we need him, I'd be minded to rest Clark. We need him fit and the danger of rushing him back, especially on a poor pitch makes me think he'll be in the bench again.

I can see us being pretty defensive here and look to counter, so wonder if we might not see someone with real pace being put in as a lone striker and Costelloe has the most pace, unfortunately possesses none of the other ability needed!

  5. While not picking up any points vs Killie isn't great, that we are disappointed in the end is a good indication of how things have turned in the last couple of months. We will go into the Jan window not at the foot of the table and depending on results could be miles ahead of the bottom. We'd have all jumped at that when Levein was appointed.

That first 20 mins yesterday will give him a really good insight into where the deficiencies are in this team and the lack of options late in the game for him off the bench, will show him what he needs. Better that 20 mins happened this side of the window.

Lot of jealousy pouring out, not only from DAB's, but Perth idiots and other Chumpionship fodder as well, quite sad really. IMO.

    Thank you.

Riiight. Anyhow, for what it is worth, if this gets built as proposed, it would be great for Dundee as a club, Dundee as a city and the surrounding area. I'm not sure why you think fans of other clubs would not be glad to see this happen? As an away fan, I'd rather be going here than Dens, I'd be delighted if/when it gets built.

On the stadium/site itself, aside from the main car park, would there be other places close enough by to park etc? I assume they'd have to have a bridge or something to cross the Kingsway or would you need to wander past the ice rink and over the bridge there? Although, have a vague recollection of there being an underpass there somewhere, but might be getting it mixed up with further along.

Some will say it being a fair bit away from the city centre is bad, but in reality, it would be a far far easier place for most folk to get to. There is at least one pub up there already next to the cinema and in terms of roads, it's perfectly placed.

I remain a bit skeptical of this happening until there is spades in the ground, but will be gladly wrong once it starts.

If he could refrain from plucking the ball out of the air with his hands this time that would be great. It is technically against the laws of the game, even if our silly Scottish refs don't understand that.

Yeah, we got away with one there. Ref and VAR being their usual inconsistent useless selves.

    Well said that man 👏

It can't survive in its present form, dull as ditch water.

Take a look at the Welsh game, little old Wrexham would be more than a match for any side in the SPL and no doubts the premier league when they get there in a few years time.

We have so much to look forward to

You are right in that currently, as a contest, the top flight is about as boring as it gets. From an outside in, you'd wonder what anyone would bother watching a league where only 2 teams can/will ever win it. But, that misses the point. All diddy fans know this and are well aware. We effectively discount them from the league and when you do and look at the competitiveness of the other 10, I think you'd be hard pushed to find as competitive and by extension exciting league in its own right.

That Dundee this season are where they are and that more often promoted teams do very well and it the case of Utd, do exceptionally well when they came back up, shows actually a pretty decent yet horrifically marketed product.

Compare to the EPL. Yes, huge gulf in money, but increasingly a closed shop to the leagues below. Burnley smashed the championship, yet miles off even middle of the road sides. It is English in location only. Clubs aren't English owned, most players aren't and I think 1992 was the last time an English manager even won the top flight. Trickle down those riches and you get what would have top flight players 20/30 years ago playing 2nd and 3rd tier.

So, comparing bigger Scottish teams to big English teams is really no comparison. Comparing bigger Scottish teams to league 1 level teams, maybe is more so because of that pushing down above. However, the clubs at that level are artificially bumped up and if/when the innevitable leaving behind of them happens for some kind of closed EPL or Super League, you will see a lot of clubs struggle and find their true level.

Are Morcambe 100x better than Ross County, no. Can they spend multiple times the amount on players, yes, clearly. Does that mean those players are multiple times better? I'd say not. Adams did what Adams does. Shouts his mouth off and then tries to play dumb or roll it back a bit.

I see that one of your players was subject to some horrendous racial abuse on social media last night.

The comment was completely disgusting and the person doing it managed to almost instantly change all their details. Utterly deplorable stuff and will continue to happen until people are held accountable for their actions online.

No one should ever be put through that.

If only they had instantly deleted their account. They doubled down and mocked being called out over it and then only deleted it once it gained a bit of traction. You just wonder what goes through someone's head to take the time to type that out, hit send and then think it is in any way clever or funny. Doesn't matter your team or how bad a tackle is, if you are of thst mindset, there is just something broken inside you.

Almost as bad is the reaction of some to claim it is a Cetic fan trying to get Rangers in trouble or folk trying the whole whataboutary nonsense. I'd imagine most sane Rangers fans wouldn't want someone like that associated with their club.

It boggles the mind how the ref can only initially give a yellow there. Are they doing it intentionally becaue they know VAR can bail them out?

Yes, they absolutely crap out all the time now. It was very obvious to everyone it was a red. VAR is meant to clear up obvious errors, not make the decision for them.

There was a red at the weekend in EPL (can't mind which game), where the ref was in the absolute perfect view and was maybe 5 yards away and gave a yellow thst the VAR upgraded to red.

Exactly, he's experienced. He's not a rookie (see Steven MacLean) so again it make you wonder if he's done it deliberately. Maybe its not for motivation, maybe it's just to distract from a shit performance or maybe he did just lose the plot and couldn't control his anger, but we won't know for sure right now - give it a couple of weeks.

You have to also consider a possibility where Ross County perform well in their upcoming games and account for that. That's all I'm saying.

I think you give Adams far too much credit as a person and a manager. Frankly he is a failed manager as evidenced that he is right back where he started, despite the experience he has accumulated. Not to mention, that his outburst is an own goal in that it is an admission he isn't that knowledgeable about Football. For a guy who's job is in football, if the league is as bad as he says and he is surprised, then clearly he hasn't been doing his homework. Throw in that he left a massive club in Morecambe to go to county....

Even if (and being very generous to him) he has genuinely been surprised by the quality and Morecambe are that far ahead, then why would you even say that?  We have all probably worked with that person who comes in from x company and continually bangs on about how better their old job was.... never ever ends well.

May is under contract until the summer, he won't be leaving before then I wouldn't think.  No room for sentiment this season though, if a January offer for May means being able to sign a better option then that is what should happen.

Like Wotherspoon, May would do well in the Championship.

One thing very evident in the squad is the togetherness. Wasn't not there under Macca, but seems much more obvious now. Winning helps clearly, but you could tell the mentors at the end yesterday. Feels very like a Tommy Wright Saints again on and off the pitch.

Clearly a right wing back and forward are the needs in January and cover at CB, but if you factor Wright at RWB and Clark up top, if everyone was fit and available it looks a very tasty squad. Not forgetting Fran is a forward too. Him playing off a Clark would be pretty tasty for however long we are able to keep him.

Havent seen any of this on account of being out on the lash all day yesterday - however that looks like a cracking win for St Johnstone.

From everything I have read, our defence was again porous - I think we have one of the worst goals against records in the league - something we desperately need to improve on in January.

    Ho, fucking Ho

The Grinch Film GIF by The Good Films

I'd say from an opposition point of view, the hibs defence is a real weakness. Really need a no nonsense defender in there to keep it together a bit.

The insistence on playing it out from the back every time is admirable, but you have to have the players with the ability to do it and all Saints did was sit back and not get sucked into it, unless there was a stray pass, which is exactly what happened for the goal.

  14. The Saints midfield now has the right balance of quality, creativity and tenacity that we need. Defence looks well organised and solid and squad as a whole looks to have a real togetherness and fitness that was maybe lacking earlier this season.

Was pretty disappointed by Hibs, thought they'd be better. The playing it out from the back was clearly not working and had no plan b.

Special mention for an utterly minging referee performance. Many poor decisions for both sides, but the frankly laughable giving an offside against Saints, but letting Hibs take the free kick from 5 yards into the Saints half! 🙈

You’re making the classic pie and bovril mistake in claiming it has to be all or nothing. Either Bournemouth need to have full control and will decimate Hibs as a club or “do you want some magic beans?”. It is possible that Hibs may only agree to a deal if it’s structured in a way that protects them, for example.

As for Kilmarnock no I probably wouldn’t fancy it but again it’s not the opinion that’s the issue it’s how much you are claiming to know.

So on you go then tell us exactly what has been agreed between Hibs and Bournemouth so far or will be the outline of this deal. What are the specifics, who pays for what, how will the loan system work, what has been agreed if a player is thriving for Hibs or comes through their youth system. I’d love to see the details on the deal Hibs are doing which will in turn let me give you a better opinion on whether I would fancy it for Kilmarnock.

I suppose another way to view this is that nothing Hibs, as a club completely independent of others, is currently able to come anywhere close to closing the gap on the top two or become clear in 3rd place.

Either they and all other clubs just crack on as is and the status quo remains, or they do something different.

Providing the new owner doesn't asset strip (of which there is no sign of) or make hibs purely a loanee club for Bournmouth (why bother taking a stake) then I don't see much in the way of downsides.

Big proof will be a) how much he puts towards the playing budget and b) what off field benefits it brings in terms of facilities and future revenue growth.

For me, you can always tell how serious an owner/shareholder is about a club by what they do for the long term gain off the club. For example, Romanov at Hearts left no physical legacy in terms of stands or stadium in the way that Budge has. Its the Glazer at Man Utd scenario, put nothing in place for the long term and after a while, it becomes very noticeable. When you start to see tangible changes to Easter Road and the training facilities, you'll know how into it Foley will be.

  16. Think it's fair to say no one knows how this will play out for hibs, but from a hibs perspective, surely any form of inward investment that betters the club and team is no bad thing?

From a neutral perspective, Hibs, Hearts and Aberdeen seem to all be kicking onto a different level off the pitch these last few years and while it maybe leaves the rest of us behind off the pitch, it might go someway to closing the gap at the top and making for a more competitive league.

I'd say Rangers and Celtic have about peaked as to how far they can grow (CL money aside), but there is space for everyone else to continue to develop.

If Hibs become a space for Bournmouth to bring in better quality players than Hibs currently have, then is it such a bad thing?

For me, it it was just the case of loaning players, then it would be one if those useless strategic tie ups that pretty much every club has and no one really sees any great benefit, but for him to take a fairly sizable stake, it must be something more than that.

Was a bit weird on a sunny dry day the folks under the roof getting soaked from the condensation dripping* down and having to put their hoods up inside the stand.

I still think if the club communicated with Saints fans better they could get away with putting us in the Main Stand for OF matches. I looked around at how low our crowd was and wondered what the big deal is, as we give them 3 stands anyway.

Explain how much extra money we’d get and point out the improvements we’d get for it. E.g. replace the TV’s at the kiosks, upgrade the toilets, etc etc

The way it was just sprung upon the support the last time got folks backs up, and it feels like it’s done to do the OF clubs a favour by giving them more tickets, instead of pointing out the benefits to us in terms of what we’d use the cash for.

I'd go along with this. If the club said the extra £ was to go directly towards improving the facilities and it was well communicated.

If I was looking to buy saints, on one hand there is a lot to go at in terms of untapped commercial revenues, but on the other, the utter laziness over the stadium would put you off.

Aside from the dripping from roof, ancient tvs etc flagged, there is basic things like hot water that isn't available in toilets and frankly the slowest pie stalls on earth.

Aside from the contactless payment at the pie stalls and the e-tickets, I genuinely don't think anything has been upgraded in the east stand this century? Unless I'm missing something?

  18. Problem with the OF games is that for me, they are the least appealing games of the season. Less so than say Livi or County. Combinations of liklihood of losing, outnumbered fans, moved kick off times and always on TV. A 3pm Saturday kick off not on TV would see a much larger home crowd.

I don't blame Geoff for moaning, but we really need some kind of spark at the club. It's all very very meh. I'm sure the relaxing of duel ownership might open up new potential ownership avenues for the club. I don't buy that there isnt untapped potential at Saints. Early days crowds of Mcdiarmid prove that when there is an energy with the club, fans react.

If someone had the vision of 1986 Geoff Brown, you'd be looking at the McDiarmid site, realise it's value and act. You could probably flip the site and build a smaller capacity stadium in the old railway sidings behind the Dunkeld Road for a net nil cost. Incorporate a small station and you end up with an incredibly well connected site, closer to town, much more modern and revenue generating.

You just need to look around McDiarmid on a Saturday for the paralysed signs. 90's tvs in kiosks not turned on in 20+ years, mismatched seats in front rows, broken bits at end of stands and now constantly dripping roofs. Without serious investment, we run the risk of very costly repairs coming up, just to stand still.

Well, the £38K salary wheeze is certainly going to achieve that.  Imagine if say Premier Inn declared that you need to earn a certain salary in order to book a room there - yes, it's an utterly ridiculous idea and yet the Tories think that a crude, knee-jerk fagpacket stunt somehow contributes to a workable immigration policy.

The £38k nonsense also ignores that for that to work, we'd have to fill otherwise the jobs those coming in on low pay currently do and all the evidence says that will not happen. So wages of those jobs need to rise, as does the cost of goods they service and do inflation jumps up too, unpicking one of the supposed successes they are claiming.

The boats are visible unlike the deeper and more nuanced issues of immigration so they are counting on Rwandagate and Stop the Boats being votewinners (the Rwanda policy appealing to a base 'Send 'em all to bleedin Umbongoland' instinct among their potential support).

Except it doesn't seem to be playing out that way. Besides Bonkers Braverman and her crew, even Tories seem to recognise this as farcical.

It's really a play for the gullible as it was with Brexit.

The Real problem they are now coming up against with the general public is that no one trusts what they say and to be quite honest, they are trying to play to a sense of British identity that frankly isn't there for a large sway of the population. Braverman etc believe Britishness is union Jack's, fish and chips and boozers. Thst is not Britain in 2023.

You could argue that Britain is a victim of its own success. There is no uniqueness to the language that unites other nations. No massive identifiers in the culture vs other nations using same language, US, Ireland, Australia/NZ, all have sports for example that no other nations really play.

Because we exported so much of our culture, we have no longer anything that differentiates us and therefore, we can go to, that unites us. Same reason why folk want to come here, it is recognisable to many.

Inadvertently, this government are making the UK so undesirable that a) people will stop wanting to come here and b) folk already here will want to leave and do probably would achieve their aim of reducing net migration by pure incompetence.

This feels like a fairly staggering thing for a political party to post on their own Twitter feed.

The "f**k You" party writ large.

It's not only horrific patter it's actually just another indication that they have absolutely zero to offer anyone.

That they think this is clever at a point they are ripping themselves apart yet again and a fair few wanting a 4th PM in this parliament alone is mental.

They are currently split into 3 factions. Those lining their pockets before leaving parliament, those looking for senior positions while in opposition and the last (most dangerous) lot who are happy to see a scorched earth approach to suit their ideology. Create a culture war and divide the country for no real gain to anyone, just because they can/want to.

  22. 0-0 would have been a fair result and while there was some nice play from Saints in the first half, 2nd half St Mirren I thought were marginally the better side, but look to lack quality in the final third.

Really didn't feel confident when Kane stepped up and it was a poor penalty.

Have to say Clancy was a poor ref all game. Bit concerned about the time taken or rather inability for Levein to make subs. You could see some players were knackered for last 20 mins.

  23. Going to be a tough one for both teams. Both will go out to avoid defeat first and foremost so doubt there will be much in it.

Been impressed whenever I have seen St Mirren under Robinson and seems a club in an upward curve. Better them to be up there fighting that one of the bigger city clubs.

I think Gallacher is likely back for this one, so get him in at LWB and Costelloe out of the side and bar that, similar to Sunday as a lineup would do me.
