What was your view of Williamson's kick out in the first half? I didn't think Barjonas should have been sent off either, I thought it screamed of the ref making up for him making an arse of it in the first half. I just wonder if it looked as clear a kick from the home end?

Barjonas was booked for dissent a few minutes earlier and he kept going and going like Connelly does for us sometimes. Ref was just biding his time with it, it was never ever a second yellow foul.

The kick out if you can call it that was stupid, can’t really do those silly petulant things nowadays. Was 100% sure he was going to book them both when he called them over. Would have been a really soft red though as it was more a leg stuck out to bang in to McClellend rather than a forceful kick.

Is Daniel Church injured? How's he been for you this season? Was nice to see him make the move up to full time after a good season for us.

Injured when he arrived and had 2/3 more sustained periods out.

Not a fan really, looks slow and not a solid defender. I was excited about him signing but possible that injuries/Bartley dragging him down.

Apart from a 5 minute spell in the first half we were by far the better team and deserved the 3 points. It’s also nice to be hitting form at the business end of the season for once especially with Blair and Webby being on fire at the moment.

Would maybe say the spell was more like 15 mins but yeah the rest is accurate. Didn’t think we were awful but it’s the same stuff every week.

Poorly set up and players being like robots not wanting to do anything outwith the really boring game plan. Connelly was having a decent game and he hooked him. From then on it was a really tough watch.

Mumbongo is the only positive of the last few weeks. Continues to look decent.

Agree so it’s fitting that he is only getting twenty minutes at a time. Hopefully with a half decent manager til May we might get to see more of him.

Full highlights up now. Wasn't a case of 4 good goals. We looked possessed. Hopefully that's the standard from here on in.

Surprised nothing was said about the challenge early on. Seen red's given for that. The boy is maybe lucky it was so early on.

Came on to comment on this, that’s an absolute horror tackle. A proper leg breaker of a tackle, not sure it even happens at this level but one the compliance officer would be looking at if it was a Premiership game. GIRUY the Montrose fans booing him and sarcastically cheering when he got back to his feet.

Roberts was the Man of the Match for us . Big Effe was an absolute standout for Queens . Still a great player at this level . Wish he played for us

You certainly had more candidates for your award than we did. Efe aside not many got pass masks. Far too passive.

Thought Wales looked a very impressive player, Buchanan had a few bright moments but as mentioned Roberts was absolutely everywhere as was the case on the opening day at Palmerston.

Wait? We played it long and it wasn't  the answer to all our problems??

Don’t worry we tentatively played it around the back plenty and eventually got caught for the goal.

Bartley surely can’t survive after that today, it was absolutely awful. The players just look disinterested, lost and incapable of playing the way Marvin is demanding we play.

    Footballs all about views.

yes Bartley is raw but I like the discipline and fitness he has imposed and at last an intelligent approach to our football. It hasn’t worked for him this season ( albeit with a lot of injuries) and hopefully we inject a bit more experience and steel in January. For sure the last six defeats were unpleasant got us all. I still think Bartley is a refreshing change from the usual roundabout of tired, not very bright and uninspiring managerial wannabes.

On Hutchison I just don’t agree. I think he has a deft touch and will come on to a game and get goals. I’m more concerned about Kyle Doherty who looks a couple of stone too heavy, is really slow and doesn’t look prolific.

For the record I think we have been average/ poor for most of this season and this bunch of players need to do considerably better.

I mean barring dropping our best defender when he was late I’m not sure what discipline he is implementing. I have heard from other fans that he has his favourites though and some slack has been given to them but not others.

On the fitness part of your post I can’t really say we look any fitter than we have under previous managers,  the facts could say the opposite if anything.

We have lost goals from the 75th minute onwards in games on 7 occasions this season. We have scored 6 in the last 15 minutes of games two of which against a part time Edinburgh city.

Against full time clubs the late goal record is 2 scored and  4 conceded with it reading 4 scored - 3 conceded against part time sides.

Now I know that isn’t fully fitness related but if we are much fitter we should be surely taking advantage of these part time sides tiring late in games but in truth yesterday we were backs to the wall struggling to get out of her own half for the majority of the last 15 minutes.

Feel absolutely cheated after that game. Some dismal finishing coupled with, ahem, questionable refereeing. Have no idea why Docherty was booked in first half when he appeared to have been headbutted. Then Queens goal- their only attempt of note- coming from a free kick but no idea why that was given. Annan defence arguing about that and no one picked up their man.

Personally speaking felt Tommy Goss was maybe trying too hard to prove a point.  Some of the headers he won would have been more effective being knocked back/down rather than goalwards. Still,  always gives 100% and never let's his head go down.

Certainly not impressed by Queens who I think will struggle for a top four place.  As for us  avoiding bottom is paramount and don't think seventh or eighth place is out of the question. Just takin a pragmatic view and not expecting miracles!

I’m not sure if it’s the same incident but if it is Docherty wasn’t head butted, McKechnie pushed him in the chest and he flung himself down like he had taken a punch from a heavyweight boxer.

For being such a big guy Tommy Goss doesn’t half spent a lot of the game throwing himself to the ground under minimal contact, thankfully the ref was wise to it and didn’t buy any it.

God our supporters are a miserable bunch.

we got a win to break our run despite being poor.

Efe man of the match. Houston and Church solid.

Ferguson and McKay did ok and Reilly ran his socks off.

Sorry but Cochrane poor today and gave away possession in dangerous areas.

I like Hutchison. I think there is a player there with good touches. Did more than Doherty did all game.

On Gibson star player material but mostly injured this year and would you have brought him on against his Dad?!?

Next week is vital. Need to get a run going and start winning at home.

At least gives Marv some time to get us going.

Only downside is Bryson’s Injury looked bad. We carry little luck.

On another day Annan would have hammered us…but they didn’t and we have the bragging rights and 3 points

You have been the only poster on here getting right behind Bartley and that is admirable given the dross we have turned out.

But claiming you like Hutchison is a step too far. “nice touches” the guy couldn’t  trap the proverbial bag of cement and for being around six feet tall is absolutely terrible in the air. Late on a high ball was played over the top and he tried to bring it down twice and failed, after he eventually got it under some control he very quickly surrendered possession allowing another Annan attack.

The performance yesterday just confirms what most fans have come to terms with that we are now a really average/poor league 1 side. Annan bossed the majority of the game and only awful finishing and some good goalkeeping kept us ahead. I am not confident that breaking the run of defeats will be the start of a good run as that god awful performance was arguably worse than some of the games we lost.

  10. This has home win written all over it if you go with the form book, if you have seen any of our previous 5 defeats you would agree with that too. We have to show a reaction to end this dismal run and no better time than a local derby. Up and at em right from the start and win the battle, yeah I know how ludicrous that sounds as our players don’t seem up for any sort of battle.

    4-5-1 ?

Nice to see Gibson starting, hopefully Walker and Hutchinson have now played their way out of the starting 11.

What is the formation ? I’m on holiday so just following the updates.

I ruled out 4-5-1 as we haven’t played that one under Marvin although it’s very similar to the 4-3-3 we have played often enough.

Someone suggested trying McKay in midfield at the last home game, looks like Marv may have been listening. Might give a bit of physicality in there and keeps him away from the defence.

He played there for Airdrie at times I think,  I’m not sure about the physicality aspect as he is continually bullied by strikers half his height.

  13. Another baffling team selection. I have no idea if it’s a 3-5-2 with Gibson playing centre midfield or a 4-3-3 with Paul McKay in midfield. I ruled out 3-4-3 as don’t think Houston is cut out for right side of a midfield which would put Gibson wide in a front three so it’s probably that one.

Paul McKay in midfield 👀, well I suppose he surely can’t be any worse than he is at centre back.

If you check the Clyde thread a week before the game, there will be a queue of folk paying you to take theirs.

Being a Queens fan this season I’d rather go anywhere other than a Queens game 🤣. Clyde will go In to this as favourites but going by your comments is it a game you think you will struggle in ?

  15. My old golfing buddy manages Musselburgh, very young coach who has worked his way into management following a coaching role at FC Edinburgh. Great exposure for him, but only the second best coach in his family as his dad is a very good golf teaching pro to multiple players on the European tour. Looking to go to the game but will wait to see the ticket situation as don’t want to take a ticket from a more deserving fan with it being on Tv anyway.

Have just watched the goal highlights, good build up from us and a nice finish from McGregor. Ewan Wilson looks to be back useful signing.

If I was a Queens fan, I would be livid with that defending. Not a single player even attempted a tackle at any point in the build up, number 8 (I think) particularly shitebagging.

Everyone is just so passive, we defended the situation like mannequins barring Ambrose lunging on the stretch to block it when I would say Botterrill possibly has it covered. Like others have said in reply it’s hard to get livid now as we just expect the same stuff from the same players. They are a gutless bunch that’s not even up for debate.

More a Wilson style midfield hard man. None of them are that

I don’t think you could ever describe Wilson as a midfield hard man, he wouldn’t shirk a tackle but it usually ended in about five weeks missing from the team. He didn’t do the dirty work well I didn’t think and while we are missing his ability in that midfield there is no guarantee his body would hold up. I think Morton have had 5/6 games in a row out of him which is above average for him.

Our biggest issue is our squad is filled with losers, they just don’t conduct themselves in the correct manner. When do you ever see us come straight out the traps running through brick walls for each other ? When do you see a bit of urgency when we are behind ? They go through the motions not really giving their all. They quite frankly aren’t fit to wear the shirt.

Bartley has signed a lot of them but the players have to take their portion of the blame and give themselves a massive boot up the arse. It is nowhere near good enough and can’t continue. The only player I actually like currently is Lewis Gibson, if the rest of them walked away tomorrow I wouldn’t be bothered.

I'm not totally up to speed on Queen of the South's injury problems, but the Stirling team today was missing 3 of 4 starting midfield players (Moore, Davidson, Leitch). On top of that, Hilson and Carrick - two key attacking players - started on the bench after coming back from injuries (I suspect Hilson was only named in the squad to fill a jersey), and the defence was without a regular in the form of Adam Cummins.

Maybe your problems are much more chronic than ours, but I doubt it.

We are missing Reilly, Connelly, Todd (only fit for the bench), Mimnaugh and  McGuffie. Church and Brydon are just back from injury last week. I missed today but assume McClellend went off injured today ?

They couldn’t possibly all start for us as too many similar type players but it’s fair to say we are definitely having a crisis of sorts especially in midfield.

Hopefully Reilly and Todd back for Annan or I fear the worst for that game too.

Can't comment much on the manager but I saw lots of fighting talk in the programme about chasing Hamilton and Falkirk, but they don't look anywhere close.

That is the equivalent of me saying I’m going to give Usain Bolt a 30m start in a 100m sprint.

    Absolutely wild.

    Big game for us too

Been a while now since we won.

Not sure if any of the injured players from last week will ve back. That would certainly help.

I'd probably be happy with a draw

Only proper diddy teams come to Palmerston these days hoping for a point. It’s about the easiest ground in Britain to come and get points from. If you leave with nothing you will join an elite band of diddy donkies to have left Palmerston pointless.
