Trialist was on trial at Livi last week and recommended to Marvin by Martindale.

Good to catch up with big Ayo again too. Nice of the big man to refuse to score against his first Scottish side and just pass the penalty back to Botterill! 😂

Are Mimnaugh and Church injured ? Bit disappointing we haven’t seen the latter yet, the trialists filling in are making him sound better by the game though.

  2. Both our keepers had very good spells when they were on the pitch, thought Botterill probably should have done better with the goal though. The Nouble flick came at him from close range but it had next to no pace on it and he parried it in to a very dangerous area and we were punished. He did make an absolutely outstanding save from Kelly where he tipped wide when it looked a certain goal and did everything else well.

Finally a trialist that looks well worth another look/contract, the winger then wing back (15) was very impressive. Blessed with pace and a bit of skill could be a great asset in league 1 where he was ghosting past some Livi defenders late on.

seems we have swapped Church for your Dave McKay although different positions

will be interesting to see who benefits most

I would be absolutely flabbergasted if it’s Alloa, Daniel Church would have to be awful to out do the performances of Dave McKay last season.
Maybe it was just a bad fit at Queens and he will be fine at Alloa like he was at Raith but I can’t imagine the move to part time football is going to eek out any improvement from him. One plus is he won’t have Ciaran Mckenna next to him unless you are planning a double raid 🤪

Manager interviews are pointless, what's getting said in them doesn't necessarily correlate to what's happening behind closed doors. It's very rare for a manager to throw the players under the bus in public and for it to have any benefits tbh, it's just a load of fan appeasement pish.

If you witnessed the second half on Saturday added in with the majority out of contract soon I don’t see an issue with it. It’s not like we are a club that dishes out 4/5 year deals and we are stuck with these losers much longer.

If these were on a coupon we'd collect every week:

A supposedly winnable game which if we do win sees us make ground on several teams above us which we chuck and end up further adrift?  Tick.

Murray to inexplicably start and get at least an hour before inevitably being hooked?  Tick.

Hendrie to do something daft which ends up costing us a goal?  Tick.

On at least one occasion lose a goal within a minute of making changes?  Tick.

Heads go down immediately after going behind and end up on the end of a drubbing?  Tick.

An accumulator on all of the above would have short odds but I'd risk it.

How is Murray getting this much game time ? He is absolutely rancid, a truly awful absolutely gutless footballer. We have too many of a similar mould which is why we get these drubbings.

The second goal is our throw in in their half, 20 seconds later with them not even having to really do much the ball is in our net.

    Awful!!!

I can’t disagree with any motm as named above but I’d also mention Josh Todd. MOTM for me however was Stephen Hendrie. On it from the 1st whistle

Hendrie was slightly better but everytime he was put under pressure he looked like a cock up wasn’t too far away. Put us in trouble twice early on and luckily they didn’t punish us. He did get better as the game went on and Murray should have scored from his cutback when we put together a lovely move in the latter stages.

Much improved performance and on the car journey home I am sure we even praised Paul McKay which this season hasn’t happened often if at all. Good to have East and those marauding runs back too.

Just watched the highlights. McKenna just do us a favour and do one. How does Gibson miss the one from a yard out. Impressed with new keeper coming for crosses. We had chances and Todd's penalty well less said the better. If everyone is fit I would play this team. Screenshot_2023-01-15-11-15-51-70_34e361ca2b1ac5216ac16ad60069fca8.thumb.jpg.ed9f2686ae5a935a22a8660a6c6426ec.jpg

Wouldn’t be totally against that but would prefer to get another centre back in and maybe trying East at left back. He liked a marauding run when was left of the back 3. I think Lewis has turned in 3/4 very meh performances in a row which is going to happen with him being so young. Maybe a couple of games coming off the bench again might help him get his mojo back.

  8. Hibs supporting friend has sent me a message this morning saying Hanlon has been told he is free to go and the rumour is a 6 month loan deal to us.

Sounds a bit far fetched considering he has played most games for them this season. We will be the easy rumour shout just now but he would be an excellent player at league 1 level and would imagine he will have better offers than us. Maybe just a rumour but sounds plausible, it’s on twitter and two hibs message boards so it must be true 😝

McKenna is not the answer at right back everyone has said he is a better centre back from previous clubs however I do not think he is strong enough to play there. As Bartley said in his interview we cannot keep making these mistakes but McKenna has played almost every game he is available. I would rather play Muir at RB if we cannot sign one this window. The manager has a job on his hand trying to move people out of the club this window unless they are willing to drop down to part time football. I think we give the manager these few months to implement everything he wants to do and start his recruitment for next season. Spend his budget wisely not sign as many players as WG did. Rather quality over quantity. We will see who has the appetite to play for our club over the next few months.

100% agree about Muir.  This season is done barring losing every game or going on an incredible run.

We won’t do the latter with McKenna anywhere near the team, drop him and give Muir a run. We develop our own young player and if he isn’t better than McKenna initially there is a good chance he will improve with playing at the higher level as he looks like he has the ability. He looked  brilliant away at Ayr in his cameo and I am extremely surprised he hasn’t been involved much more since. If it does turn out that Muir isn’t actually the answer we won’t have lost anything and can sign someone else in the summer.

  10. Hopefully we play more like Dunfermline away than Kelty at home but I don’t really have any hope for that. Drifting slowly and painfully towards May when we can banish the majority of these diddies to the history books. If we can do it in January even better but Gibson has proved already he is far too loyal to the majority of them.

I genuinely believe the BoD will be in a complete quandary as in what to do.  They sack him now and they will be accused of shooting before being found guilty/not guilty or they hang in there and have to go through the heightened press activity this will bring knocking at the door.

As to what's going on, on the pitch I'm afraid there isn't much that can't be placed at Wullies door.  My most frustrating issue is that he promised not to spend cash on an inflated squad, looking for quality over quantity...  The defence, I feel would sort itself out if they had any faith in a keeper behind them of which I am fully convinced.

Let’s not also forget the amount of times we have heard that he wants to take the game to the opposition and play attacking football. Can’t say I have seen much evidence of that tbh, we are naturally exciting to watch as we leak goals and have some strikers that are probably better than this level. I wouldn’t say we purposefully set out with an attacking style of play though.

As a big team, we have been granted special dispensation to enter our youth side into this competition at the last 16 stage. Good luck to the kids, all of whose names I definitely know.

I also see that no bookies are taking bets for this match as they are all cowards.

They were earlier in the week, had Hamilton @6/4. Stuck it in my betslip and market went suspended. 😭
