Chris Smith has signed for East Kilbride.

There were very few supporters present so it is difficult to discuss something with yourself. The Managers Fund has been raised in the past but never got off the ground. I think we now have a full time member of staff whose remit is, amongst other things, increase cash coming in to the club. So we have someone who can devote time to initiatives like this. The Managers Fund is purely optional - any money raised that goes to Bomber is better than nothing. No surprise, Harry Paton won't be coming cheap, for example. £10,000 was a number I used for illustrative purposes, but this amount of money would get, I would imagine, two players. I am not privy to the player budget but I would guess it represents about 10% of the total.
The good thing about this is that it is easy to contribute and that the proceeds are clearly visible. Adding £2 to the gate just gets merged with all other cash coming into the club, and there would be a degree of effort required to separate the cash raised. Visiting fans also wouldn't want to contribute to our player budget.
Regardless, I know for a fact that Jamie would be delighted to hear from you, or anyone else, with any other initiatives or support that can be offered.

Agree about Bomber. I think we are lucky to have him. He obviously has the club at heart. Certainly a degree of optimism about the place but need to start winning some games.
They are to start a Managers Fund where supporters are encouraged to contribute a monthly amount into a ring fenced account. All proceeds to be spent on players. Hopefully there will be a good uptake. 100 fans donating £100 a year = £10,000 which would be significant in the context of the overall budget. I expect there will be details on the website shortly. Spread the word.0 -
But he does come across as a good egg. Sounds like a really normal, down to earth guy.

Is Paton on a one or two year contract at Ross County?

That’s ross county confirmed the Paton deal. Short term loan. Presume to January? That is a ridiculous signing.

Harry Patson is tearing it up in our reserve side- wonder if he'll get a game on Saturday?
Yes, I think so.0 -
Signing news imminent. Who could it be...

I see Eddie Fearns has been released by Clyde...is this the news FF was alluding to?

Wasn’t at the game yesterday but we have no chance if we can’t score. Aside from the game against Albion Rovers (which doesn’t really count as they were so bad) our only goals in something like 8 games is an OG and a deflected Cook long ranger. It is a worry.

We’ve signed an 18 year old centre half on loan from St Mirren. Conor McBrearty. Presume only as cover for Jesus and Morgyn.

Agree about Gibbons. I thought he was our MOTM.
Also O'Hara offers something else we don't have. Very nippy and quite composed on the ball.
So, despite the result there was enough to be confident about. I just wish we could get a goal! Placing a lot of hope on O'Hara though.

After Saturday it was pretty obvious where our main problem was, so it is good to see it being addressed. We defended well on Saturday, but despite our possession, we didn't carry a huge threat up front. If this guy is any good then it could be a big signing for us.

Pathetic. Can’t even beat the weakest team in the league with 10 men.
Ha ha. 2nd weakest maybe.0 -
I want it noted formally that I started the Harry Paton Fan Club. He's got a chance to be an important player for us.
Think you’ll find it was started 12 months ago in Stenhousemuir. But happy to have a Dingwall branch too.1 -
What happens with the Scottish cup? Do two or three juniors still get in? And do all EOSL teams get a place in this seasons cup? If so, how does any prize money get apportioned?

Highlights - the standard of our defending is abysmal. Have yet to see how Tena and Neill are better than the centre backs we released. In the past few games they have been badly out of position and failed to get in front of their attackers. Can only improve or we are in the mire.
Goals we lost were awful but I am not sure that the centre backs were released last season.
Neill looks decent enough. Not sure about Jesus, but he has played at a decent standard. Certainly don't think he was Bomber's first choice.
He acknowledges that we need 2 or 3 players, and he has managed to assemble decent squads on a tight budget the last couple of seasons, so I am sure that he will be able to get a couple of decent players in to make us competitive.

Currently working through the first part and laughing away at the Martin / Jimmy / John Scott tales. Danny sounds like a sound guy. Certainly not your typical footballer, and quite a contrast to the Scott McLaughlin interviews, which were, unfortunately, a little cringeworthy.

Only listened to part 1 but like poster above, I have come away from them thinking that these footballers are actually alright guys. Not this one though.

Good result - but awful opposition.

I'm sure Brown says Sean is only signed on a short term deal. Anyone knowhow long?
0 -
Oh. Can't say he impressed me at Edinburgh City last season.

Maybe his return is imminent after all.

Always imagined Sean would return but we have loads of midfielders already. Need strikers and defenders.

Funnily enough as I left Ochilview on Saturday I did wonder/worry about his future.
He is a great guy and I think everyone around the club will be sorry to see him go. He had some really tough things to deal when the club was in real peril a couple of seasons ago.
