  1. Parkinson's Law: "Work expands to fill the time available".
  2. Mass redundancies and self employment are linked. More than 90% of companies are started by people who were made redundant from their previous job. Most people are reluctant to give up on a known income even if they hate their job. I have been self employed for 19 years. A month before I started I had no idea I was about to do it. However I was working with idiots and I became convinced they were going to destroy my career with their disastrous management decisions. At first I thought it was a temporary arrangement until I figured out what to do next. Nowadays I wonder why I worried about it at all.
  3. Also the idea that driving counts as work but taking public transport is not. If a business trip is unpleasant with traffic jams and bad weather then great. If it is sunny with nice scenery then that is a skive
  4. I totally agree. They also believe punctuality is the best indicator of performance. Somebody who is never late is regarded as the hardest working even if nobody has a clue what work they actually do.
  5. According to the Brahan Seer it is all because there are too many bridges across the River Ness.
  6. This is bollocks. The whole thing was orchestrated by the UK government to ensure we don't get humiliated at Eurovision again!
  7. How is it that people have so many pictures of Madonna in a nurse's uniform and why does she look so different in each of them?
  8. I was in London about a month ago. You don't need to buy a ticket. Just swipe your debit card at both ends does the trick. What you suggest sounds fine but would require an overhaul of the current system.
  9. That would be fun. Trump truly despised former Governor Mario Cuomo - the father of the current governor.
  10. "Okay let's see what's in the bag. You say you are going to have pizza tonight. Fair enough. Pizza bases - bit lazy - you should make your own. Tomota sauce, cheese, oregano. Okay. Pepperoni? I suppose. What's this other stuff? Mushrooms, olives, anchovies! Are these really essential? Oh what this? Pineapple! Right that's it. You'll have to come down to the station with us".
  11. In all fairness this is not his script at all. Theresa May became PM but seldom got a chance to talk about anything other than Brexit. He thought he had side stepped that and instead would be talking about the fun and exciting future we were about to have even if he was just making it up as he went along. This pandemic is not something he can ignore and he is having to do lots of things that are totally against his nature - just as big government intervention. He looks utterly miserable.
  12. The Y2K computing bug 20 years ago is now widely regarded as a crisis that never was. In fact it was a very serious issue for a lot of companies and organisations that fortunately did take it seriously. If this pandemic is handled well and a large number of deaths are averted then similarly in future years this will be seen as a fuss about nothing.
  13. This is totally irresponsible of you! Do you have any idea how many foolish people will now be getting in their camper vans and heading off to the Falklands?
  14. Yes. Alternatively if you go to Snake Island in Brazil it is almost guaranteed you won't die from Coronavirus.
  15. As a tribute to the late Kenny Rogers. "You took a fine time to leave me Lucille. Four hundred children and a crop in the field" He also did another song called "Highland Industries".
  16. Interesting fact. She was born in Bay City. Bet you have never heard of that place.
  17. It is like the one I posted earlier. If you fold a piece of paper in two it will be twice as thick. If you could do this again and again with the same piece of paper then after 103 times the thickness of the paper is greater than the size of the universe.
  18. Now you can get to work in under a minute.
  19. Some fans really struggle to cope with the prospect of relegation. With nobody knowing what is going to happen to the season I guess these people have just gone home.
  20. Is split personality a symptom of infection? I'm not sure. .. or am I?
  21. Walking oddly won't protect you and might lead to an injury.
  22. France has a greater than GDP than all of Africa. People without electricity don't watch the news or listen to the radio. A lack of clean water leads to health problems. So do tropical diseases. Corrupt governments don't care much for the people they look after. Poor roads make it difficult to get to health centres and hospitals. Similarly wars and civil unrest. Most of the population will not have health insurance and anything that ensures automatic treatment. This pandemic like everything will be a major disaster for Africa.
  23. I would recommend testing it the other way around.
