St Mirren V Arsenal 15th February 1981. Back in the day when I’d some times take my camera along to a game. -

A cunning plan will be announced this week that will see Rangers in the bottom flight next season:- A Scottish Premier League of 20 Teams A Scottish Championship of 22 Teams ( Including Rangers ) Three relegated from the SPL at the end of the season. Top two in Championship automatically Promoted. 3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th in play - offs for third Promotion spot ( Beginning to sound familiar ) Sky to cover play-offs. By taking the top nine teams out the current first division and putting them in the SPL and making a single league up from the bottom club in the first and the 2nd & 3rd Division you should have more than smoothed the way for Rangers to get promoted. As soon as Rangers make it back to the SPL the cry goes up for League reconstruction and we revert back to a 12 - 10 - 10 -10 format. Simples Am I a cynic ..... oh, yes

I've fired off an e-mail to the St Mirren 10000 CIC advising them that if St Mirren are going to be part of the group that want to parachute Rangers into SFL 1 then I'm cancelling my Direct Debit and I'll be finished with the Professional game in Scotland. In the grand scheme of things it'll make no difference but at least when it comes to sporting integrity I'll have made my point.

I don't know .. Reading the statement again I think this portion is suggesting that things may be taken out the SPL Clubs hands - Maybe by the SFA:- The Scottish Football Authorities and Commercial partners, over which we have limited control, have many decisions to make prior to our Board making any valued appraisal.

Taken from Rangers media:- "A journo I know reckons the meeting ended up in complete anarchy this morning with 5 teams flatly refusing to vote for any sanctions over and above those already in place or that would see us ejected from the spl. The teams he said who baulked and threatened to abstain at the issue of any new sanctions and you may or may not like this are St Mirren Hearts celtic Dunfermline and Inverness." I hope not - If St Mirren go down that route I'll never be back. If they've (Rangers) broken the rules they should be punished. We ( St Mirren) need to remember that if we were in that situation you can bet that Rangers wouldn't give any thought or care about us.

If Rangers come out of Administration then fine - They maintain their SPL status. However if they are liquidated and a "Phonenix" Club arises then as far as I'm concerned that is a new Club and they will have to apply to join the SFA/SFL and start from scratch in the Third Division. Regardless whether or not the SPL want the "new" Rangers, the new Club will have to be a member of the SFA & SFL so I think all the diddy Clubs might have a say in this not just the SPL Chairmen.
