  1. I'd expect it'll either be Fin or Mulligan that comes in this week. I'm guessing it's too early for Braybrooke anyway unless he was signed before the deadline to register to play
  2. He's a proper honest, hard working baller that deserves his move. I hope he gets his chance to play and show what he's capable of for you guys - top lad that will be missed at Dens
  3. The Doc saying lots of good stuff about Braybrooke as well as hinting there might be more signings than just Vento to come too. Tony Docherty raves about ‘huge talent’ Sammy Braybrooke as Dundee gaffer eyes further signings and provides Luke McCowan update Time is ticking away until the transfer deadline tomorrow night. By George Cran August 29 2024, 7:00am Dundee's latest signing Sammy Braybrooke. Image: David Young New signing Sammy Braybrooke has already taken the breath away in training at Dundee says Tony Docherty as he hailed the Leicester City kid’s “huge talent”. Braybrooke arrived on a season-long loan on Wednesday and is expected to be joined by Julien Vetro soon. The ex-Bordeaux winger has been training with the Dark Blues ahead of a loan move from Burnley with his move to Turf Moor delayed by red tape. And Docherty revealed there could be more business done before the transfer deadline at midnight on Friday. New Dundee signing Sammy Braybrooke. Image: David Young. While that work is ongoing, the Dens boss is delighted by the capture of Braybrooke and admits he wasn’t 100% sure he could entice the England U/20 international to Dens. “He is a really talented young footballer who will see this as a platform to show how good he is,” Docherty said. “He has some pedigree. “If you ask any of the boys who have trained with him this week, he takes your breath away. “He is a huge talent. We are delighted to have him on board. “When it got made aware he could be available he was very much on our radar. “We weren’t sure we would get him because of the quality he has. Tony Docherty is pleased with his summer business. Image: Paul Devlin/SNS “We had real stiff competition but as a club we represent ourselves very well. “I am hugely impressed with him as an individual. “He is 20 but has a maturity and a plan for his own career. “I am sure he will do really well.” James Maddison Braybrooke trained with James Maddison at Leicester before the England international’s switch to Tottenham. Docherty himself has first-hand knowledge of the impact Maddison made on loan at Aberdeen during his time as assistant manager at Pittodrie. James Maddison curls in a free-kick while on loan at Aberdeen. “I have experience of working with Maddison and players of that ilk,” the Dens boss added. “Maddison will be a role model. There are real similarities. “I still keep in touch with Madders. “If you look at Madders, his loan to Aberdeen was pivotal. “I am hoping this proves the same way with Sammy.” More to come? Meanwhile, Braybrooke is unlikely to be the end of transfer business at Dens Park this week. As mentioned earlier, Vetro’s move is edging closer and is expected to be complete before Friday’s deadline. But there could be more. Julien Vetro on the ball for Bordeaux. We have daily recruitment meetings. “We are still working to see if there’s anything we can strengthen. “I have a really good squad of players here already so only if it strengthens us.” Luke McCowan In terms of outgoings, a move to Wolves for young talent Seb Lochhead is close. Luke McCowan applauds the Dundee fans at full-time at Easter Road. Image: David Young/Shutterstock And, at time of writing, there have been no further offers for star man Luke McCowan. “He’s been part of some really good training sessions this week,” Docherty said when asked about the midfielder. “He’s in good fettle with the rest of the boys. “My understanding is there have been bids knocked back and that’s credit to the owners for knowing what we’ve got here. “But that’s nothing to do with me, as manager I coach him on a daily basis and he is a credit to himself.”
  4. The Doc is saying Mulligan should be in the squad again for St Mirren and both Reilly and Robertson have a chance of being fit too
  5. Nelms has always said they plan on bringing in extra income with concerts and events so the capacity will take that into account too
  6. He was a Director of yours for years and one of the reasons for Keyes buying Dens was because the agreement was our rent to Bennett went up every year so we bought him out before it turned into silly money
  7. Nelms in the courier saying we are still open to a ground share but they have to call us & Apparently they nearly invested in St Mirren before they got involved with us... John Nelms is open to sharing Dundee’s new Camperdown Park project with another club. But only if they pick up the phone first. The Dundee managing director is hoping to see a planning permission in principle application for the club’s new stadium get the green light soon. The original date slated for a council hearing, however, has been delayed with no new date confirmed. And Transport Scotland want more time to evaluate the potential traffic impact on the Kingsway. Dens chairman Tim Keyes and Nelms are pushing on with the project in the meantime and have released a spectacular fly-through video of what the stadium will look like when complete. And Nelms took to The Warm-Up podcast to discuss the plans among other things. In a round of quick-fire questions, the American was asked if he’d be open to sharing the stadium with another club, most likely rivals Dundee United. Nelms replied: “Sure. “My phone rings!” Nelms, along Dee owner – and fellow Texan – Tim Keyes, took a flight to meet United custodian Mark Ogren back in 2018 to establish a personal relationship with the Minnesotan. Nelms also revealed that he and Keyes initially looked at St Mirren when aiming to invest in a football club, where fellow podcast guest Brian Caldwell – now at Motherwell – was chief executive. Tim Keyes (right) with John Nelms (centre) and Dee media man Pete McEleny (left) at an open training session this summer. Image: David Young “We looked at about eight clubs – England, Scotland, Holland, Belgium – and Dundee kept coming to the top of the table on a risk-reward scenario,” Nelms said. And asked about the number of American owners in Scottish football, Nelms added: “When Mark [Ogren] took over at United, Tim and I flew up to meet him in his hometown and to introduce ourselves, let him know what he’s in for. “Tim and I have owned the club for nearly 11 years now. I met Brian [Caldwell] just before that when we looked at St Mirren. “The investment for us was to bring some business acumen to football. “We’re very patient people, we are still here after 11 years and we take small steps. “What we thought we could do was take a football club like Dundee that was struggling financially and put some business acumen into it, put investment into it, build up the academy and infrastructure as we’re doing now. “And at the end of the day you’ll have something. “We’ve made a lot of mistakes on the way and we’ve learned from those mistakes. “We think we’ve built something much bigger than we started with.”
  8. Fair point, we might end up with him but at least Doc won't play him if he's that bad
  9. If he is genuinely pish, I trust the doc to tell him to do one though. I can't see him signing anyone just because of who their dad was
  10. It's almost certainly come from the chat on here but that's the courier saying we are linked with Ronaldinho's son through our Burnley connection
  11. I don't think they have any shame mate, until pretty recently anyway they were still regularly accused of operating an old firm style 'what school did you go to' interview policy. Luckily their media empire is dying on its arse though
  12. He seems to try to write pieces that offend folk to get a reaction for some reason (clickbait probably). Most of them have been pretty pathetic attempts to stir up an issue with the council or some company or another but this one is the most whiney, seething pish yet. Definitely fails even his usual poor attempts at coming across as 'edgy' and just paints a picture of a sad wee man, sat in his pish stained DAB y-fronts having a toddler tantrum.
  13. Courier is saying he's up on trial with us thanks to our Burnley connection but nothing about him signing yet anyway. Edit to add - Transfer markt has him as a left winger/second striker and currently without a club
  14. Courier is reporting Portales could be getting his first call up for Mexico. Great news for him if its true & could earn us a few £ too if he does well (& doesn't leave on a free obvs)
  15. Falkirk beating Hearts and Spartans beating County both 1-0 too
  16. According to the bbc's gossip page and a few punters on 'x' we are interested in Reece Welch a 20yr old CB from Everton
  17. The dens burn runs under the road there too (before heading down to the mill on prince's st) so that will probably play a part in Dens Road flooding. No idea about whether that effects the drainage from the ground or not though or if they are separate issues
  18. Don't know him or recognise him from our thread anyway but one click on his profile says he supports Patrick
  19. The lad is a Partick fan but don't let that get in the way of your double cup winning pish Random
  20. Almost certainly, I'm glad we are speaking out though even if it does come back to bite us
  21. Thats the club writing an official letter of complaint about the ref ignoring Mellon's head knock - luckily thats him out of hospital now https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/68273991
