  1. FWIW I live in Dundee and am friends with a boy who goes to college with Simon's cousin (hear me out). Murray signed a pca for 3 years at 30 years old, Dundee and QP had only offered him 1 year. The contract was also a wee bit more pw than what he's on at QP just now. County also have arranged to put him up in a house 4 days a week and are paying all his travel costs between Dundee & Dingwall. Take from that what you will, but with his injury record I don't think anyone can blame him for signing the PCA, what transpired between QP and County to get the deal done now I do not know, but if it means we are getting a decent fee for a player who was going to leave for free in the summer then so be it. I totally understand what everyone has said about how much we have done for him as a club through what was quite a dark time for him, the harsh reality is that in lower league Scottish football it's dog eat dog and players have to look after themself and their family first. I'm absolutely gutted about how this has ended between us but as we move up the leagues this kind of scenario might be something to get used to. Who knows we might pull a similar stunt for a player coming our direction in the future.
  2. If this actually ends up us getting dumped out the cup what a kick in the teeth that would be for the hardy souls who travelled up there on a Tuesday night in January. The ineptitude at this club never ceases to amaze me
  3. How solid were the Oakley to QP rumours? Not heard anything since earlier this afternoon..
  4. So buzzing with this. Love this group of players shown great resilience tonight. So so happy for Scotty too, will do wonders for his confidence. Mon the QP. Has anyone heard news re Jarrett and Thomson?
  5. McPake is heavily rumoured to be away down to Chesterfield in the National League (I think). Rangers are very keen to sell. Nothing would shock me but I canny see us selling Murray on the final day of the window that would just be bizarre
  6. Why would we want that though? Surely no self respecting QP fan would want to go back to big Hampden and kneel down for the Old Firm just to make some dough in the short term.
  7. Pretty good post. I personally see no good reason to start this thread as a QP fan, fans will see: wee team, spending money, having success and immediately make Gretna comparisons. Personally I think it is a wee bit lazy but I accept that it is the natural comparison until proven otherwise by the club. That's the way it goes. There's nothing we can say about building a sustainable future that is going to change that. A few things I would like to pick up on though. I actually don't think our first team playing budget is as big as a lot are making out. Do people think we are spending over Dundee & Thistle levels? I think Coyle, Murray, Thomas will be on a good wage but a lot of these guys I honestly don't think it'll be anything ridiculous. Let's not forget that 7 of Saturday's starters came 4th in league 1 last year. What's happened here is the club has progressed on field at a faster rate than anyone inside or outside of the club wished or even hoped for. Off field we are playing catch up and will continue to play catch up until we have a home in the southside.
  8. Don't really know where you've explained the great idea of starting a pile on here? Writing a load of pish man
  9. Don't really see the need to create this thread. Just inviting a pile on Fwiw the Gretna comparisons are lazy imo but we're just going to have to embrace it for the time being and hope we prove those wrong and sort out our tinpot wee stadium soon
  10. Too early for me, nae fans, nae ground. I would want us to do ourselves proud as a whole club if we were to go up i.e. good away day, well organised outfit, everyone pulling in the same direction. Also recognise that this year might be as good a chance as any, so it's tricky!
  11. Another disasterclass from Milne at left back when he comes up against better players Good night
  12. Just want to add to all the other great comments on what has been a fantastic few days to be a QP fan. Making the Montrose games free for members/season ticket holders with a good pricing structure otherwise is fantastic stuff There's a real positivity around the club at the moment and the committee etc need to be congratulated for creating that, there was a lot of bad feeling towards the club heading up to Cove only a month ago, since then we have won 4 on the spin and the club have got a lot of things right since then Long may it continue!
  13. Apart from a few stormers chucked in there for good measure (Arbroath away esp.) I'd argue we have won some of those games in spite of having that big cabbage at the back
  14. 100% this. The difference between Eze and Fox is like night and day, the right-side of our defence has been our weakness all season (Eze + Davidson/Boateng/Bannon). For me it's clear to see that Fox and Kilday is a massive upgrade. I'd just like to talk about Eze for a minute. I really really tried to give the guy a chance, it's not every day you get a man with Nigeria caps come and play at centre half for your wee club. But from the moment I first saw him play you can just tell he's not a footballer, I've got no idea what Coyle sees in him. This might sound like rubbish but I often think you can guage a footballers ability from their running style, the man runs like he's got steel rods running through his legs. Incredibly stiff. His distribution is terrible, he's slow on the turn, and isn't great in the air for a man of his size. He also seems to have to stretch for everything which is often the result of poor body position or balance. If Coyle brings him straight back in for Fox then it is nothing short of a shambles. Sorry if all of this seems a bit harsh but we're 15 games into the season now so he's had plenty opportunity to impress.
  15. There's got to be something in his contract about a certain number of appearances. Coyle isn't stupid surely he can see he's going to offer nothing when trying to see out a game. Same goes for David Boateng
  16. Excited for this one, albeit we are a team on the slide at the moment I expect us to give Thistle a decent game after their taxing trip to Aberdeen mid week. Team selection wise, Coyle has a lot to think about after our last outing v Arbroath. Bannon put his hand up for a continued run in the team at centre half so I would like to see him get a run of games there, at the expense of Kilday who in fairness hasn't done a lot wrong so I wouldn't be shocked if he comes back in. In midfield a lot depends on if we stick to the 4-2-3-1 or revert back to the 4-4-2 which gave us so much success earlier in the season. I'd like to see the 2 up top, Williamson stretches defenders and I think Murray is better for it. In the no.10 role I think Jarrett probably has dons enough to get the nod over Savoury which feels strange even writing it out! Feels great to be looking forward to a game in Glasgow, the way it should be! Where will Spiders fans be drinking pre match? I know we used the Woodside last year but not sure if this will still be the case? Mon the Spiders
  17. I'm much the same. Really begging for him to be half decent. His touch is miles off it, gets shoved off the ball way too easy and is uninvolved with our best play when he's on the park. If Murray stays on the park we have a better chance of winning imo
  18. Ok, fair enoughwould have been undoubtedly a sending off and changed the game
  19. From my view QP also had a stonewalled (and would have been a sending off for O'Brien when he stopped Williamson who was clean through. So you can manipulate events to create your own story. On the balance of play I think it'd be fair enligh to say Queen's were unlucky to not go away with 3 points
  20. Feeling quite apprehensive about tonight. Will we see QP go into a dramatic slide down the table or will Coyle galvanise his troops? Expecting a tough battle with Arbroath probbably seeing this game as a perfect opportunity to get off bottom of the table. Seen a few calls for drastic changes to the team, I don't really see that happening. One change I would like to see his the introduction of Bannon - maybe he can guide that big donkey Eze through the game. I actually think Kilday is less of a bombscare but I don't see Coyle dropping Eze to be honest. Assuming the Naismith idea will get binned for the foreseeable. In the middle of the park I imagine he'll see stick with Thomson and Boateng, Thomas and Savoury either side with Murray and Williamson up top
  21. I don't think he's done anything wrong, I see it more as a case of there's something either formally in Kenny's contract or an informal agreement of sorts where we only have to pay x amount of his wages as long as he's getting game time. That's just speculation from me but I suspect it's something like that. Both Kenny and McPake have been disappointing so far, no doubt. We've seen flashes from McPake (against Cliftonville) but Kenny looks very lightweight and short of confidence. For both of them, I think it's a matter of one just going in off their arse and they'll flourish then on.
