  1. Eight weeks is the optimum growing period I'm led to believe. As we didn't get started until after our play off exploits, eight weeks takes us to around the 17th July. Playing a couple of days earlier wouldn't have been a big deal. Playing a meaningless friendly on it around 10 days before the eight weeks is up would be foolish. Neither our pitch or the one at Tynecastle would be ready, so playing it at Cowdenbeath, where they clearly don't have the resource to dig it up and plant it again every year, gives an opportunity for an open door friendly before the Betfred Cup.
  2. I'm sure the pitch will have been ready in time for a home game on the 14th July had we been given one.
  3. Because Tynecastle and The Energy Check Stadium at Firhill won't be ready to host the game. Hearts are installing a hybrid surface and, as is evident in the photos of Thomas O'Ware's signing, Thistle are re-seeding the pitch and it won't be ready until the 17th of July.
  4. Not really. Cowdenbeath could have refused to hire the ground on the Saturday to allow them to play a friendly/use it for training.
  5. Stuart Bannigan played about 65 minutes in the last Development League match of the season and seemed to come through it without any problems. I think he's also played in another two bounce games since before the development squad got informed of their release. He was in the squad for the Livingston match on Sunday but didn't make the final cut of 18, which is also encouraging. He needs to come back flying in pre-season but I wouldn't put it past him. McLaughlin has a great knack for being in the right place at the right time and it's true that he bagged a lot at Development League level. When he went out on loan at Stirling Albion, however, he didn't really make an impact for them. I think he is a technically good footballer but don't really think he'd make an impact in the Championship at this time. I've never really understood Lamont as a footballer. He started as a winger before going on to make himself a deep lying playmaker. I think he'll go to Clyde and win the league with them next season. All players were informed by the Club, most on Monday or Tuesday, of their fates prior to the information being made public.
  6. Nothing to do with me, I've been on annual leave since Wednesday night. No idea what the hold up would have been.
  7. By my reckoning - aye. I think we'll start at Cliftonhill Airdrie
  8. Relax. It'll come today. Players with clauses in their contracts would have had a number of days to declare and sign if they were staying or going. Wouldn't want to announce it before the deadline expired until everyone has made their decision.
  9. Jason Krones was terrible but Thistle made him look like Beckenbauer when we played in April.
  10. Booth's contract has an extension trigger when he plays X amount of games this season. He can't reach the number.
  11. Hopefully there aren't too many losses up at the Global Energy Stadium. Every staff member I have encountered couldn't have made us felt any more welcome, especially in the aftermath of the 4-0. People forget that outwith the 11 diddies on the pitch, there are genuine, hard working people at the club who have to exchange pleasantries with opponents on a frequent basis, especially after a defeat. It's tough at the bottom but when we headed up in April for our "crunch" game, the PTFC media team received the best, if slightly underprepared, welcome but I hope every one of those people keeps their job.
  12. Well he went on loan to Dover so he's still a Cambridge player. If it's a sell on clause we could be in the money this summer!
  13. It was a transfer fee that the club received for Azeez - it might not be the millions spent on Neymar but Azeez was purchased by Cambridge United, with additional add ons IIRC, from Partick Thistle.
  14. Correct. Ade Azeez arrived on a free and we got money from Cambridge United.
  15. To my knowledge, the figures for our estimated away attendance come from our safety officer, rather than Ian. Granted, it might not have always been this way, but it has been since at least 2015.
  16. No. The original fixture, scheduled for Wednesday. wasn't selected for television coverage.
  17. On a slight tangent but regardless of positioning of the Celtic fixture in Sportscene, first, second, a millionth, they would have had a multi camera set up. This is because Celtic, and Rangers, use a separate third party to cover their games at home as they broadcast them on Celtic and Rangers TV. It wasn't specifically the BBC picking that game for a multi camera set up - it was always already going to be there.
  18. 30 days. He's missing the Queen of the South tie in the Scottish Cup.
  19. It was only six. Turnbull wasn't actually booked according to the referees match report. Devine is on 5 Barton and McGinn are on 4 Edwards, Keown and Bannigan are on 3
  20. Today is the day that my injury ravaged Premier Division side finally gets defeated. A 7-0 start was far beyond my hopes and dreams at the start of the season!
  21. Delighted to be 3-0 in the Premier Division this season. A good solid start. I've recovered well in the Dynasty League too, currently 2-1 up after my disaster of a campaign last year.
  22. I'm 8 picks away from being free from this torture.
  23. I am in and ready to rumble. 10 minutes til we begin!
  24. First up. No pressure then. So is it a 7:30 kick off tomorrow night then?
