  1. Poor from us yesterday... praised the side last week but very little positives from the game versus Clydebank who thoroughly deserved their win. We will have to work hard on the training pitch this week to get our young team going again. No excuses
  2. Big game for The Rabs tomorrow... league leaders Clydebank come to Guys Meadow. Hopefully it beats the weather...sorry our fans can't be there, but if any of our supporters wish to help the club you can via our donateaticket.com/Kirkintilloch-rob-roy-fc/ Any donations are greatfully received.
  3. Cumbernauld United 1 v 4 Rob Roy A fantastic first half performance saw The Rabs leading 3-1 at the break and if not for a missed penalty and a series of great stops by the United Keeper it would have been more. The hosts were much more dangerous in the 2nd half and threw everything at the Rob Roy goal but we defended brilliantly and managed to score a goal with about 15 mins to go to secure a vital and deserved 3 points. Goalscorers in order were.. Ian Gold Craig Truesdale Scott Gold Alex Cassells #MonTheRoy[emoji837][emoji835]
  4. Looking forward to the game today, an 'away' game versus Cumbernauld United to get the competitive juices flowing. Lads have trained well this week and are raring to go #MonTheRoy[emoji837][emoji835]
  5. Heartbreaker for the lads yesterday, defended so well during the game only to lose two goals in the final 15 mins. We took the lead through Alex Cassells and created a couple of other chances which would have seen us take a vital two goal lead in very very difficult playing conditions. As always a 1 goal lead is always precarious and a Beith equaliser meant that it was a nervy ending for both sides. Just as we thought a point was a fair result for the efforts of both teams, a late break by the hosts seen the ball lobbed into our net and then seconds later the ref blew for full time. A hard one to take for our young side but we have to take it and regroup for next week. #MonTheRoy[emoji837][emoji835]
  6. I've replied on the Rob Roy thread...no real mystery. I hope it clears things up, no preference for Talbot or Darvel from a Rob Roy point of view it was just the circumstances were totally different for us. Anyway thanks to everyone at Darvel for Saturday, first time I've been back there for 25 years and the place is looking great. I thought it was a really competitive game and played in a good spirit. We were looked after and look forward to hosting them later in the season. Good luck.
  7. It suited us on Saturday, it didn't suit us at that time last season. We were on a terrible run last season and the thought of playing Talbot at home was daunting enough. We had a real injury crisis and heading down to Ayrshire depleted and with the added problem of players unable to make it down there because of Saturday work commitments made it an easy decision for us. The rules say we didn't need to switch the game, so we took advantage of that. Hope this clears things up for you.
  8. Such a hard result to take today, The Rabs were terrific in the first half and being 1-0 at half time was so unjust. The decision by the ref not give a penalty for the most blatant hand ball you'll ever see will live long in the memory. To be fair to Darvel they improved at the start of the 2nd half and doubled their lead after a mistake in the Rob Roy defence. This was able from which we could not recover. Darvel added to their lead to make it 3 and The Rabs were denied another penalty as Cassells was brought down but again the ref said no. Hard to take for a young side (average age was 22 today) but promise for the season ahead. Darvel looked after us today, good luck to them moving forward.
  9. Manager has moved quickly to sign former St.Rochs left sided Def/mid player Anton McGuigan. The gaffer invited him into training and played him in our game versus Wishaw on Wednesday and Anton took his opportunity and scored on his debut. He will go straight into the squad for the league opener against Darvel. #MonTheRoy[emoji837][emoji835]
  10. Friendly Result. Rob Roy 5 v 1 Wishaw FC So our last pre season game and our manager utilised most of his squad to get vital minutes into the guys before our season opener at home to Darvel. First half goals by Anton McGuigan ( trialist), Sean Mcmonagle and Ciaran McPherson gave us a 3-1 lead going into the break. 9 second half subs were used and 2 of them , Craig Truesdale and Euan Griffiths scored to make it a final score of 5-1. We move onto Saturday now, let the games begin. #MonTheRoy[emoji837][emoji835]
  11. Drumchapel will do well in my opinion, hard game at Kilsyth, but I think they will edge it. Difficult for St.Cadocs because of managerial change, so remains to be seen how Southy goes about the job there. Glasgow University will be a fit and strong unit but I think they are in for a tough afternoon against St.Rochs. My opinions which might come back to bite me [emoji85]
  12. Friendly Result Ashfield 0-5 Rob Roy Another good result for our young squad as we continue to prepare for the season. A hard fought first half against a hard working Ashfield side ended with The Rabs leading 1-0 with a goal from Craig Truesdale. The 2nd half seen a number of changes as usual with these games and it seen an improved display with another goal from Truesdale to put us 2-0 up. Goals from Robbie Leighton, Alex Cassels and another goal from 20s striker Sean Mcmonagle sealed an emphatic victory for the lads. #MonTheRoy[emoji837][emoji835]
  13. Friendly Result. Kilsyth 3-4 KRR Tough game for the lads today as Kilsyth made it difficult for us throughout. Goals from Alex Cassells, Danny O'Halloran made the score 2-2 at half time. In the 2nd half Development forward Sean Mcmonagle scored to make it 3-2 to The Rabs. A late penalty scored by Kilsyth looked to have secured the hosts a draw but a last minute goal from a brilliantly struck free kick by Michael Touhy grabbed a win for Rob Roy. Lots to work on as the season nears but that's 5 wins in 6 for us so far. #MonTheRoy[emoji837][emoji835]
  14. Old names and habits take time to get rid of. Hopefully we get back home and the local community get to know who and what we represent moving forward.
  15. The club are happy to get this deal done as a number of WoSFL Premier clubs were after the player, but The Rabs are delighted that former EKFC defender Conor Bell has agreed to join for this season.
  16. Friendly Result. Gartcairn 1-2 Rob Roy Playing on a newly laid artificial surface The Rabs performed really well against an experienced side on Saturday in Airdrie. The young Rob Roy side fell behind in the first half but replied soon after with a goal from Scott Gold. Into the 2nd half and after coming on as a substitute Alex Cassells secured a win with a neat finish. Thanks to Gartcairn for the invite and it was good to see ex Rabs man JC Hutchinson in goals and who performed brilliantly for them. MonTheRoy
  17. Jimbaxters, [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23], I'm not hard enough to intimidate anyone. I shall review all my posts in future. You are what you write I'm told.
  18. Good result tonight in our Friendly against Drumchapel United. A 5-1 victory and our most complete 90 mins in our pre season schedule so far. Goals were scored by Robbie Leighton, Craig Truesdale and a thunderbolt of a free kick by Michael McCanespie to give us 3-0 lead at half time. Drumchapel pulled a goal back in the early stages of the second half as Manager Stewart Maxwell made changes. One of the subs Jay McInally scored two goals on his first start to seal the victory. The team moves onto Saturday and another game away to Gartcairn.
  19. Jimbaxters, I've not got a clue what your on about. Too cryptic for me.
  20. 2 Friendlies this week for The Rabs. First one is a game against Drumchapel United WOS on Wednesday evening at Dalziel. Next up is the first game at Gartcairns newly relaid surface at Airdrie on Saturday. As intimidated these games are closed to supporters and we ask that everyone respects this. Tough tests for our young side and hopefully keeps the lads ticking over until we hopefully get a start date for the league to begin.
  21. Friendly game today was very much a game of two halves. Rob Roy were excellent in the first half and it was very much against the run of play when we fell 1-0 behind. As always in these games teams make a number of changes ( we made and the flow of the game is disrupted. Fair to say Caledonian Braves were better than The Rabs in the 2nd half and ran out comfortable 4-0 winners. Good game for us to take against quality opposition.
  22. A couple of friendlies played so far and apart from, 2 players carrying ankle injuries , every player has had game time. We have even managed to play one or two of our 20s development squad. Hopefully the good work continues this weekend against Caledonian Braves.
  23. If we start our season on the 10th of October ( I think that's a date that's been mentioned)...there are about 32/33 Saturdays between then and the end of may, playing a 38 game league program is gonna be difficult. Assuming there is going to be postponements, any cup competitions will be virtually impossible. Also to think about playing SJFA cup matches from last season is mental. Really difficult situation for administrators. I say all of this not knowing if ANY football will be possible at our level [emoji17]
