  1. It's good someone had updated everything on wiki. I do use wiki but it's not my favourite. A few years ago I took it upon myself to update the Shire wiki page, correcting all the historical errors and updating history of players etc. However, persons unknown kept on deleting and changing my work and putting back in all the errors! Despite various pleas this continued time and again so I gave up as ultimately I had no control over the content. It is a sham as lots of good folks miss out on factually correct info instead of just the copying of errors.
  2. It's up to date though some of the players are out on loan (these are detailed on the individual player's page)
  3. 23/9/2017 is a date I wont forget in a hurry. Now what would I give for a result and performance like that.
  4. For what's it worth David Grant did get 2 in that game.
  5. Cracking goal from Del tonight. 30 yard free-kick.
  6. The booking of our sub gk late in the game in our technical area was just1 other example of the ref's erratic card play today and the lack of control he had on the game as it progressed. Very happy that we won a game that in the past would have slipped away from us. Now comes the huge game in home hand v Kelty a week on Friday. Win that and we are even even more "on track". That game will be a strommer but tonight I'll just enjoy the toughed out win.
  7. Shire v Vale of Leithen last night 143
  8. It was 4-4 via Gala FR at Annan in Jul 17. 5-5 is the record highest ever draw in the Lowland League. Weirdly along with the Edusport 4-4 game above Dalbeattie Star also were involved in 2 of the only 3 other LL games that have ended 4-4.
  9. Cover the costs of renting the stadium out for another game I believe.
  10. Dalbeattie today were as tough as they always have been against us at Islecroft and to be honest Shire had the breaks at the right times of the game and capitalised on that to win a much desired 3 pts. Vinnie Parker's moment in the Star's goal in the 2nd half when he was unable to hold onto a Shire shot which was then tucked away to put Shire 2-0 up probably sealed the win for us. Star at home are a hard team to beat and on both on the trip down and back I was just thinking 3 pts for the Shire no matter what please. Very happy after 3 previous draws at Dalbeattie that we finally came out on top today. Shire at the moment are still a team yet to hit top gear but gradually the connections between the players is developing. Crazy that it is only 1 mth into the season and every pt is critical. Such is the way of the Lowland League these days.
  11. I was thinking more a changing of the guard in terms of top dogs in the division rather than DS moving on.
  12. Worst ever LL defeat for The Spartans by a long way. Feels like a changing of the guard moment.
  13. Shire crowd v East Kilbride yesterday was 237
  14. Great result. Best of luck with a good draw in the next round.
  15. I went to the Forres Mechanics v Brora Rangers League match today. My head count was 376 ( including 50 plus fans from Brora). Interesting to find out how far I am away from the official crowd.
  16. Shire v Gretna FC 2008 yesterday was 175
  17. Shire v Edinburgh University tonight 185
  18. Vaguely remember us winning 5-3 at Stranraer on the opening day of a league campaign in the 1990s. Will need to check.
  19. So it's still Edusport Academy as the name for 2919/20, unless they do a very late name change
  20. Would you give it up for anything else? Ps you do have garden... don't you ?
  21. Nearly 6 months into your seminal work here. I love it and hope others truly appreciate what you are doing. For me every day you remind me of all the links between players that have graced the teamlines of Bo'ness United and East Stirlingshire. I am sure the historians of all the other clubs in the East and further afield feel the same links when names match or even nearly match. One day I need to cross check my research with yours re the connections between the clubs. I am currently writing some programme articles regarding season 1945/46 and was looking into the story about the revival of footy in Bo'ness at that time and whether Bo'ness would go down the senior or junior route. The rejection of Bo'ness to play in the newly formed Easten Senior League in 1945/46 due to them being the last team to apply and being 1 to many must have be the catalyst for what happened very quickly next with footy at Bo'ness within the Juniors. Would love to know the correct story. It is weird. In time forgot of the 1880s (I do actually know the dates) Shire played Bo'ness as equals at the same level of footy (never bothered me about "grades" but for others it seems to be important) and then to soon after teams that were only a few miles apart went their separate ways (counties) and never had the chance to play again each other for over 125 years later. This was the ridiculous nonsense which was the set up of Scottish footy for over well over 100 years. I 'm so glad I live in a time when footy in the east of this country is beginning to join up. Now let there be what is awakening in the east spead to the west of the Scotland. Really looking forward to your next 6 months posts.
  22. Good luck to both and Vale. Do have a soft spot for them. Waiting for the Spartans tweet about development compensation. Hope not.
  23. Robbie's save in the game v the Scottish Amateurs was my Shire save of 18/19. The few times I have seen him play I have been impressed.
  24. Kris Faulds is the one I haven't heard a mention of. Unsure if he was missed on the club lists of players going and considering a new contract. Sure his contract ended 31.5 19. Alternatively the club maybe waiting his injury to recover.
