  1. Yeah I do agree that is something that a team like Giffnock have planned better, they at least got planning permission for their pitch before starting a WOSL team. The guy who runs St Cadocs has just always been a big time b*****d and just wanted to get his foot in while the conferences were about so he could skip a few divisions.
  2. In fairness to St Cads, it's not for lack of trying on the ground front, they are just set on having it in Newton Mearns, and it's obviously very difficult to get people to agree on a big astro park being built next to their multi million pound gaff
  3. There is far larger exits near the pie hut on the same side at the enclosure and behind the goal. I think no split turnstiles was some of the problem but I know a lot of it was how steep the terracing is without any crush barrier, so the council only counts a certain number of rows as safe because any more would be a crush risk
  4. Always hope with these kind of situation that a decent chunk of the money are spent on the facilities at the club and not just paying guys stupid wages, how good some ex pro player is won't be relevant in 5 years time if the guy stops investing but good improvements to the ground will be
  5. From my understanding, which is just one of a fan not anyone actually involved with the process, two of the main ones is there only being one set of turnstiles so they can't split home and away fans and the lack of crush barriers so the council only count a percentage of the rows of terracing as safe to stand at because any more would be a crush risk
  6. Iirc It was £4 to get into the rearranged game which seeing as it was a fiver full price at the time, might have actually been more offensive than just charging full price
  7. The part where he drags every one of his players saying they had no offers from other teams is a highlight from me. Certainly didn't have the same tune at the start of the season when he was talking about how many offers the players had
  8. Personally I've always loved Craighead Park in Lesmahagow because of how massive the hill behind the goal is
  9. Can get a solid decent view of the Newlandsfield pitch from the Pollokshaws East platform, think you could have watched the whole game before they built the flats on Newburgh Street
  10. It's something you see far more often at the bottom end of the English pyramid where most of the game won't have more than a few friends and a couple of people passing by, it's just something we haven't really seen in semi pro football in Scotland because of no pyramid and the fact we still have a distinction between professionals and amateurs. There is only so many fans to go round really and adding more teams to the pyramid will mean some teams aren't really even in a position where they need much of a paying fanbase to keep the lights on
  11. Harmony Row dropped support for all their adult teams, so Giffnock have inherited their squad and management team for next season
  12. Yeah Giffnock North are a spin off amateur team from the running club, with a pitch at the running club. Giffnock SC is a youth club based out of the old Hutchie Auldhouse pitches just by Thornliebank train station
  13. Being honest, I can't see this being anything more than an extra qualifying round or two, which with the volume of teams getting licensed was something that was always going to happen, you can't increase the number of entrants without increasing the number of rounds.
  14. Yeah it's looking very likely that a non licensed team will win the South so if the only licensed winner is from the East they'll got straight up
  15. I can tell you for a fact that there was a player last season that Darvel paid £1500 and £150 p/w wages for a player who most weeks didn't even get into the matchday squads.
  16. Problem with Skye is it's still a place where football is the number 2 sport to Shinty, means all the local businesses give loads to the camanachd team and generally aren't willing to give out any decent money to the football team. I imagine this would change slightly for a joint Skye team and the fact that the North Caley is a winter seasons would mean that any shinty player isn't forced to drop football like they are with the current setup for the amateurs. But I still can't see it happening, A Lewis and Harris team will happen before a Skye one
  17. Hearts came into the cup in the 4th round so it would be some doing to play in a round earlier
  18. I am not taking the high ground here for the WOSL being the league that cares about sanctity of structure, just saying that giving the weakest of the three leagues an automatic place in the Lowland League isn't viable when they would just end up being an easy road into tier 5 for new teams from the central belt.
  19. The problem with having the SOSL going up automatically is in its current form they'd just go straight back down the vast majority of the time, it's made even worse by the fact that the SOSL have started letting teams in from Glasgow so if you gave them an automatic promotion spot it is just letting teams take an easy path the Lowland League regardless of where they are geographically
  20. Problem with that is even if you get the Lowland league to agree to the extra relegation place, you have to get the SOSL to agree to give up its tier 6 status.
  21. Amateur leagues in the West are way too segmented to have any hope of joining the pyramid any time soon. Caley teams only a couple weeks ago unanimously voted against a merger with the Central Scottish
  22. Ritchie had a good couple years when he first got called until he pulled out of a couple friendly squads and fell out with the management team, he was 100% not arsed in the end but saying he was never arsed is harsh.
  23. Chairman has already been at it with the dire Ronaldo patter
  24. They beat EK Thistle 8-2 and play Stirling Uni in the third round of the SCC
