    Which 3 defenders are coming in? Radio silence on the signing front for weeks now. Really need solid addictions for the start of the season, not 4 or 5 weeks in like last year. I'm fairly confident we have enough to stay up but not so confident in McCabes transfer policy.

    This and our current squad depth are what's probably coming into people's thinking. Our first 11 would compete with no issues but after that we drop like a stone. Still time to add so I'm pretty confident we can stay up.

    McCabe on a sportsound interview at some point today. I expect he'll continue to keep his cards close to his chest. We are in a bit of a tricky position due to lack of squad depth but I don't actually think we are too far away to be honest. We need a decent CB with a bit of pace, another real experienced head in the middle of the pitch and probably a left back at a minimum. Ballantyne has been really solid in at left back and looked really comfortable but how long can we expect that to last? Another thing I'd like to see us work on with the front line/wingers in particular is strength and conditioning, no doubt there's some ability in those areas but O'connor and McGregor especially look very easy to push off the ball, hopefully that improves in time. ETA- I hope that all extra funds we get from cup runs (hopefully not budgeted for) goes straight into the playing squad.

    I thought Aitken showed up well today. I'd feel better with him playing every week than McMaster.

    Not sure I'm that pessimistic but aye it's clear we need to strengthen both defensively and in the middle of the park. I get that McMaster is still young but there's no chance we can go into the league campaign with him charging around the midfield.

    Far too many good posts to quote. I think a bit of context is needed here. We are now in a league where teams won't even think about losing 500k+ in order to achieve promotion- we just can't compete with that and we'd be raging if we did and it went tits up. While there are reasons for concern regarding the squad I just don't see us being here to make up the numbers, there's too much work went into getting us here. If it comes to the first league game and we are in this position then I'll be shitting my pants.

    Think we will be waiting a bit longer to see the pen. Most likely into the middle of next week I'd imagine.

    I see there's been a wee bit of backlash on it further down the thread. Was really only a matter of time before someone had a go at them to be honest.

    That's all fine and well as long as it doesn't take from the first team budget and we are going to give contracts that suggest we will be able to get a fee other than the shambolic development fees. We have to remember we are a newly promoted team that should be focusing on survival, once that's achieved consilidation and building should be next. These type of signings and the chat that comes with them scream of running before we can walk.

    The wee guys of twitter will be wetting themselves. 'AMAZING SIGNING!!!'... based on what? Will be interesting to see how the young guy develops but it's certainly not the type of signing I was expecting after reading the latest interview from McCabe. Best of luck to the guy though.

    Don't really think we are in the position to be signing players to loan out but we most definitely aren't in the position to be taking chances on developing midfielders that evidently struggled at times in the league below. Hopefully the young lad progresses well but I agree with the 'meh' comments.

    Had my doubts that Jokic would be able to carry the Nuggets through the finals but here we are. Easily MVP and I'm not ashamed to say I'm still fizzing that Embid won that accolade.

    You're probably right but we have a good working relationship with the agency and the players are happy enough. That doesn't mean they won't end up else where I just think it strengthens our chances of them staying to be honest.

    I believe McGill is definitely in talks and I'd imagine Frizzell is too. Both on consillium sports books as well so that helps us a bit and I think Frizzell is tied to consillium sports in more ways than others.

    Probably the right time for both parties that Smith moved on. Wouldn't have been too bothered to see him stay but again not too bothered about him leaving as long we get Gabby and Frizz signed up.

    I think we need to get this done sooner rather than later. Not in a panic sense but we seen how difficult it was to recruit last season and with the championship being a step up I feel we really need to give ourselves the best chance going forward. I expect we will find out this week, if I goes into the middle of next week I'll start to get twitchy.

    Seen that Tom Lang has been released from Raith. He's always looked solid enough anytime I've seen him and has a bit of experience at championship level. Wonder if it's someone we'd be interested in?

    Strange watching the premiership scores with an interest to see who's joining us next season. Love it. Looks like it's Dundee United for certain and potentially Ross County. Both grounds I've never been to. Bring it on!
