We'll need to get the free's and out of contract guys dealt with first. Not expecting that many but we have to make room for better players.

I think we need to get this done sooner rather than later. Not in a panic sense but we seen how difficult it was to recruit last season and with the championship being a step up I feel we really need to give ourselves the best chance going forward. I expect we will find out this week, if I goes into the middle of next week I'll start to get twitchy.

I'd imagine we'll get an update in the next few days or at some point next week to see who is staying or going. Some of the players will be on holiday and I think it was around the end of May last year when we found out who officially signed contract extensions.

It would be amazing to keep the core of the squad together from last season, Gabby, Ballantyne, Rae, Smithy, Frizz, Gal and Devenny, would even go as far as offering two year deals and Ballantyne a year's extension. I said on here last season I was quietly confident that we'll keep the majority of the team together and I think we will this season, Smith seems most likely to go but I think the rest will stay, had we stayed in league 1 I think a good few would've left.

Going to be intriguing to see who we bring in, I love 'Silly Season' when random rumours get banded around. Not long until we see someone on the Facebook Group suggest signing the likes of 'Kyle Connell' and 'Jordan Allan' 😆

Think our players are contracted to 31st of May, probably gives us an idea of when we will find out.

Assuming we plan to play Ballantyne at right back I’d definitely say we should be looking to bring in a left back, and a centre back is definitely needed too. Think we should be trying to bring in a couple of real quality midfielders as it will be required to continue our style of play a league up.

Agree that we should be keeping as much of the squad as possible around even as squad players while adding improvements. If you look at the bench from Saturday I think you’d agree there’s room in the squad for around 5 additions without anyone actually leaving, especially considering 5 subs are now allowed in the modern game.

I've just spoken to a his fan, sure he said the Aiken who we have on loan at us next season is a left back. He's really surprised that both Aiken and O'connor are both going out on loan, even at championship level.

Damn, you pretty much summed up my feelings about yesterday, the team and the club overall.   I’ll admit, I went ‘glass half empty’ after Hamiltons second.  I should have known better, this team doesn’t give up.  But honestly, it felt like ‘Again?? Really???’   I’ve been supporting the team since the late 80s, a dangerous time since we were on the verge of promotions, cup finals and Europe.  Of course that isn’t the norm at most football clubs and even at a young age I knew that but soaked it all up.  I have to say to anyone who missed all that amazing stuff and ‘the glory years’, yesterday was about as good a day as I’ve ever experienced supporting the club and I’ve been to them all (barring Sparta Prague away, my big regret😢).  Genuinely feel optimistic about next season while being realistic and the challenge ahead.  I can only say to all my fellow Diamonds, back the team and get a season ticket if you can! Onwards and upwards, next season is going to be an exciting one

Absolutely this. On the season ticket front, let's get them out early and let's give the chance to more people by allowing them the option of payment plans etc. The amount of kids that have been at games recently is tremendous and as we move up the prices will undoubtedly go up too, so let's do what we can to ensure everyone has the best chance to back our club. Times are hard for everyone at the moment but Airdrie have been an escape for many and long may it continue.

    WE ARE GOING UP!♦️

  5. I'm actually relatively calm, for now. That will change though as we get nearer to kick off. This is going to take care of itself. I believe we can do this but I'm not 100% we can.

Onto the game, I agree with the OTL podcasters, Justin has to start for me, he had a 'poor' game on Wednesday but he deserves to put it right, we've always got Telfer to bring on for some composure if things aren't going his way.

One last massive push. We can do this. Come on the diamonds♦️

Falkirk, as far as I was aware, were usually pretty decent at releasing attendances and number of away fans but I've not seen anything this time. One of the staff at the ground told me they had been advised to expect up to 1500 away fans which at the time I was dismissive of but there was a decent number in the stand by kick off although hard to tell when your sitting in it.

4080 is the figure on Flashscores. No idea how accurate though.

  7. Hopefully we go into this and avoid any nervousness from the stands as I think that played quite a big factor in last year's final. I'm sure Rhys will have it drummed into the squad but our best chances are to treat this as 'just another game'. Ideally we would see a repeat of the last week but I just can't see another team being so tactically naive against us.

If true then I don’t blame them to be honest. Taken a bit of unfair stick on here and other social media. They did a great  job for what is a thankless task.

Unfair stick? He's a funking moron. I get that it's basically club propaganda but some of his comments ridiculously to say the least.

    Lewis, what's the score?

I wouldn’t be hugely surprised with either signing. O’Hara fits the hard working forward who can play out wide that we like, though I don’t think he’d bring the same goals as McGill or Smith. The Todorov idea was purely because of his agent, most of our signings seem to be represented by or linked to Jackie McNamara in some way. McCabe and Fordyce seem terrified of Todorov too, see panicking and changing a sub to bring on big Byrd in the 4-3 game when Todorov started getting ready, so I’m sure they’d like him as an option. I suspect he’ll get a Championship club though.

We hopefully won’t need a right back, as Ballantyne is signed up and Watson will presumably still be around. I liked Kyle MacDonald at Airdrie but his performances in the play-offs last season put me off him.

I suspect the ultimate car crash interview before the play offs played on him a bit. Like you say though, I'd have Ballantyne and Watson over him.

Tottenham’s antics at Anfield today reminded me of the time Airdrie equalised in the 93rd minute to make it 3-3 up at Brechin only for Alan Trouten to score a winner a minute later. The team that night had a midfield three of Nathan Blockley, David Sinclair and Liam Watt, with a front three of Liam Coogans, Lewis Coult and Keigan Parker

We might still be stuck in the same league, but we at least have a lot more quality these days.

Liam Coogans, oh ya fucker. Pretty sure there was someone on here that thought he was the second coming on R9.

What amazes me still is that somehow, Peterhead are still worse than us. I really can't comprehend that there is a team that is and has been worse than us all season.

Peterhead are worse than you by a considerable distance as well, which is even more astonishing. I thought Clyde weren't much worse than us for large parts tonight, we took most of our chances though.

On another note, get it up Kyle Doherty. Total fud.

Absolute nonsense post. Devenny is a decent player on his day, possibly not consistent enough but that happens when you're not playing a lot of minutes on a regular basis.

I don't think he was the right substitution at that time but that's nothing to do with him being "a waste of a jersey".

I can only summise that you're the type who shouts abuse at players in his own team.

Continue to summise, you might get there one day.  He's not good enough, it's as simple as that. Lightweight and non existent as shown yesterday.
