  1. That’s your top 6/bottom 6 for the rest of the season. There will be the odd result where a bottom half team beats the top half. But quality difference split this year with how the table is looking already. Any of that top 6 can win the league, will just come down to consistency.
  2. No No Was a worry two seasons ago when threave went which many thought would lead to a mass exodus but never happened. Lose a few cups and we will be fine in the south, the 6 (Yes Six?!) cups are way too many for the 12 teams sometimes 16 depending on the regional competition. Can get a bit repetitive/boring in a way for players playing against the same team if it gets too often but still at this point I don’t think clubs see it much as an issue. West is Ayrshire and Glasgow, they hardly care for our region so leave it as it is. Kello are junior and proud and threave wanted a change for the reason previously mentioned about playing the same teams 4/5 times a season. West is also a closed shop now, South is the only option for Glasgow/Ayrshire teams if they want in the pyramid. Balls now in our court until West open their doors again.
  3. Wigtown & Bladnoch v Auchinleck is gonna break some score line records
  4. You spoke longer than other podcasts speak about the league just message the clubs or league an I’m sure someone will come on and give yous a better insight. As you said yourself, we do get forgotten about amongst the 3.
  5. Abbey Vale v Moneybeattie is the pick of the bunch there. Will see how Mids look when they play against Creetown. Newton v Stranraer close to call as well. Wins for Lochar, Nithsdale & Uppers for the rest.
  6. Nice of them to promote the junior cup when it’s the same folk that run the challenge cup account which has just been left… 100% favouritism. They need to look for a new media team to promote the challenge cup actively asap.
  7. Yes, South and East clubs rejected the idea about renaming the south Challenge and having the “junior” name in it 2 seasons ago. South challenge junior cup sounds awful. SFA challenge trophy or something like that would work.
  8. Drop the Junior tag and clubs from the Lowland, East and South would be interested. Clubs from them leagues/regions don’t want to be associated with the juniors. Except Camelon, but their owners are dodgy anyhow.
  9. Good luck telling the dinosaurs it makes sense. drop the junior and south tags and the two into one would be a great idea.
  10. Gonna be a cricket score at EK. Decent ties for everyone else though.
  11. I highly doubt Newton and Wigtown have used finances to get thistle lads. Creetown have spent money as they did last season, they were fed up of finishing lower part of the table 2 seasons ago so wanted to change that in which they have. I doubt Lochar and Abbey vale have spent none or not much money. They have gone by the “it costs nothing to play for our club”. Dalbeattie on the other hand most probably. Know a few have gone there for the money Gretna and Threave also spending the cash in the region.
  12. Edusport have taken over a club in the Maltese pyramid structure instead of their team in the south, Swieqi United now known as Swieqi Braves in the 2nd tier after winning the 3rd tier league this season. Less outsiders now, more community focused for south clubs. Clubs don’t have the money that gets chucked around the West.
  13. Mids will be next. Nithsdale need a stand and floodlights as do Lochar. Abbey Vale need floodlights but then will still need permission for that to happen by the council if I heard correctly. Lochmaben & Uppers way off though Lochmaben have a good wee clubhouse and decent pie.
  14. Here here! Just need the conference league not to happen then it will be grand. 16 teams in the regions challenge cup which is good to see as well
  15. Braves withdraw from the league, still in the SCFA regional challenge cup wellington withdraw application as it was too quick for them to get everything sorted. (No changing facilities etc…) the cup draws for other 2 cups have been drawn. Not too sure why they ain’t been published yet. Could be something to do with a new member. However if you look at Newton Stewart’s Facebook post with the draw on, you’ll see that new member of the SCFA. A strong 12 team league with half of them (or 7 if you include Stranraer) in the Scottish cup next season if Lochmaben, Wigtown and Uppers can get a decent team sorted then anyone could beat anyone.
  16. Run by better people then the ones that run the juniors, that’s for sure.
  17. I think they will be more focusing on getting more quality for the first team and to stay up. Don’t think they have the player pool to field 2 sides in the pyramid unfortunately.
  18. Where you getting the players for this idea? They’ll never be another tier underneath the south. Nowhere near enough players in the region. The only chance you’ll get now is a good established Sunday league going Saturday or a team like Heston coming back. With their improvements going on at Maryfield, hopefully it’s in the plan for the club to come back to adult football. 3 non league clubs in Dumfries would be enough. Towns that could maybe have a Saturday league team with a decent population demographic: Thornhill (have a Sunday league team), Gatehouse of Fleet, Eastriggs(have a Sunday league team but standard pitch and nothing else), Whithorn? And maybe Terregles as previously said. That would probs be it. I’ve also said if Crichton was still around and the Crichton trust actually cared about hospital park, that could be a decent ground. But saying all this, at the end of the day it comes down to player numbers and unfortunately in the region, it’s fallen a lot.
  19. Was wondering what Clyde’s plan was for a future home, great reading back through the thread to find stuff out. That’s crap the family have cut contact. With shawfield off the table, what’s plan B? Long term @ Hamilton?
  20. This would be the most maddest thing to see if they applied naa in all seriousness, the only Sunday league team in the last few years who you thought would give it a go was Terregles as they had a decent set up. They stopped though because they had no committee involved at adult level. If Dalbeattie were a strong lowland league side then yeah potentially Birchtree might have come in soon but that’s not gonna happen now. Dumfries Athletic looked at it but nothing happened. Apparently a Sunday league side put in a note of interest but no idea who it is and if it got any further. Seeing developments happening at Maryfield gives hope that Heston may come back in years to come
  21. You only have to look at the figures the south put on their insta story to see how popular the last 28 days have been. One of the engagements hit over 100k people. It’s down to social media for the interest. The south’s socials have only been active for 2/3 seasons now and it’s the main source of information for it as well as a Facebook group done by Stephen () who’s on this. It’s grown quite a bit. With Dalbeattie now in for next season and Gretna in the coming years, it will only get more competitive. Forget about wellington, apparently the site visit was a disaster/unorganised chaos. Don’t think the committee were too happy.
  22. Off the Islecroft tonight, see how a top south team does against a bottom lowland league side. Be interesting to see if Cox, Kilpatrick are still there or have left already. Hear if they get relegated, a few of the Birchtree Sunday league side will be signing but don’t know if that’s 100% true.
  23. Dan should be starting out that team, unless he was carrying a knock. I’d like to see some locals get involved, need their identity back. Pretty sure one of the guys on their committee has said the last 3 seasons “This will be the year” when in fact it’s fallen flat on its face and struggle to even get a starting 11.
  24. Gretna are a shambles. So out of touch with the community, the region, everything. They only think of the money, don’t care about anything else. One of the main cheerleaders for B teams as well. Thankfully the South has better run clubs than that mob. Run by Cumbrians, they’ll no doubt apply to the Westmorland league at this rate. They had quite a few loyal fans at the start in 2008 and just pissed them off to where people south of the border are now in control. Once a few locals get back involved, hopefully they find their identity again. With that current crop of players they have, they will be mid table at best in the south league. They also love to slag off the quality of players in the region, apparently Carlisle Saturday amateurs would be better than some of our league players Hope they get relegated with less points then Dalbeattie had next season.
  25. Big cup finals happen daytime on the weekend you see.
