Dundee United bound I am hearing.

Yeah, rumours going about of this, however he was 'pictured' getting his medical at Utd 2 years ago when Jack Ross was in charge and ended up signing for us a week later and twitter is full of these ITK stories like Michael O'Neill definitely getting the Aberdeen job and Blair Spittal definitely signing for us so I'd take these things with a pinch of salt generally.

He's certainly one for keeping but Utd will throw money at him on a level that we'd be foolish to get involved at. Seen a few delusional Utd supporters on twitter claiming that they will get Gogic, Strain and Martin Boyle from Hibs in the summer but really, Gogic is the only half realistic one of those three and honestly it would need to be for a far higher wage than we are willing or able to put on the table. Robinson said there's a wage structure in place that we simply refuse to break though I have seen a few folk suggesting we chuck the six figure transfer fee that we're now getting for Declan Gallagher as a condition of Utd's promotion, directly at Gogic.

Rory Loy was going on about St Mirren fans looking out their passports after yesterday. Not sure you need a passport to get to Wales. And yes, I do know that Aberdeen fans won’t be travelling anywhere next season apart from Scotland.

Not being greedy I would be really happy to finish 5th and get european football.

4th is still possible but a tall order.

If only VAR hadn't robbed us of at least 4 points.

Same. Sewing up 5th would be an achievement.

A straight shoot out between us on Saturday now that either puts 4th to bed with any outcome other than a Saints win, or leaves a slight possibility that we could yet overhaul them.

Currently I'd say we're about a one in twenty shot of catching Killie. I'd love a situation where we head to Parkhead on the last day level or two points off Killie and Celtic with nothing to play for resting their full team for the SC final the following week.

  4. Thing is, a home win here definitely suits St. Mirren's interests more than any other outcome.

I can't for the life of me root against Killie here though. When you see how clueless the officials are, how high they stack the already uneven deck when the cards are down and how much harder they will always make it for visiting teams to get anything from Ibrox or Parkhead, then nah, f**k them.

They, like the rest of us are the eternal underdogs going to Ibrox or Parkhead and I can't ever honestly root against that.

It’s bad when Kenny Miller appears to be more neutral than him here.

Through it all, I don't mind Miller. He is usually reasonable in spite of his allegiances.

Crocker is a total Old Firm lickspittle and always has been. The only thing worse than wanting to see one of them do well is wanting to see both do well.

I could see Dundee United offering Gogic stupid money TBF. They are paying Gallagher way more than we were, and I think now also owe us a fee. If they give Gogic £5k p/w then there really isn't anything we can do about that.

And this was what I was getting at a few weeks ago. That if he wants far more than we are able or willing to pay, we shouldn't push the boat out to make it happen. Gogic is already one of our highest is not highest paid player. Getting into a bidding war with a club who have a history of proving they'll overspend to get what they want is a path to ruin.

Unfortunately one poster in particular took a bit of umbrage with the 'let's be realistic, he's not worth THAT' approach though and has since decided I want Gogic gone which couldn't be further from the truth.

Don't know if it's just standard Dundee United fan behaviour (some clubs have fans *glances at Hibs* who seem to think theyll just be able to up and sign every other clubs best players every window) or not, but Twitter is rife with their fans claiming they've signed him on a PCA.

Aye. They also said in last few days that they'd be in position to take Strain and Boyle from Hibs if Hibs chose to cash in. Worth bearing in mind that Twitter rumours were also rife that Gogic had signed for them two years ago before we did, that Michael O'Neill was the next Aberdeen manager and Blair Spittal had signed a PCA with us.

Get the feeling they have plenty of supporters who are a bit delusional but if they were to sign on of our out of contract players, Gogic would probsbly be most likely as they will throw money they apparently don't have at players to avoid a repeat of their last time up.

  8. GK- Carson

A real mixed bag with Calum fucking Waters being a proper low point.

If it was active players not in Scottish football, we'd be challenging for the league though the defence isn't amazing.

What about Gogic- unbelievable how good he’s been these past few games. To think some on here a fortnight ago said they’d not be bothered if we offered Gogic a better deal or not. We will offer him our top wage of that I’m sure and whilst it won’t come close he deserves to make a few bob . Our team has been built around him and he will be a huge loss.

    Oh dear.

I clearly never said that. What I did say was pretty accurately summarised by @Torfasonso thank you to him for saving me the pain of having to rationalise my thought process once again.

Lots of appearances for our loan players this season, which is good news:

    Fraser Taylor (Ballymena): 38

    Luke Kenny (Cliftonville): 12

    Gallagher Lennon (Dumbarton): 17

    Ethan Sutherland (Alloa): 16

Kieran Offord (Edinburgh City, Stirling): 36

Kenny won a cup today. Lennon v Sutherland in the play-offs.

Taylor for me will definitely be in and around matchday squads next season on the regular. Sutherland too if we mange to keep hold.

Kieran can't seem to get too much of a run and is still only 19. Perhaps another loan next season.

My first game was in August 87 when I was 5. My Dad didn't take me to the European games which took place shortly after. Past my bedtime I suppose and he probably thought there would be other opportunities.... I remember my mum listening to the Mechelen game on the radio.

As I became a diehard during the doldrums of the 90's I remember leafing through the Tromso and Mechelen programmes like they were holy relics.

Suffice to say, my 6 year old will be attending if we qualify! I dared to have a wee look on Wikipedia at our potential opponents. One of the few teams who are already there: Tromso....

Those of us who are of a certain age (ie under 45) generally have always talked about Tromso, Elfsborg, Feyenoord, Slavia Prague, Mechlen, St Ettiene and yes, even the H word with almost hushed tones of reverence. A generation that we were just a bawhair too late for.

Stories of trips to places that those of us who went through our formative years supporting the club weaned on a Wednesday night in Brechin or an end of season 4-0 skelping off of Alloa, could only dream of as they felt like the stuff of pure fantasy compared to our St. Mirren supporting experience. That was the sort of stuff that happened to other clubs, not us. Not the St. Mirren of the mid to late 90s we supported. A generation of supporters who regarded trips in the early 2000s to places like Pittodrie and Tynecastle as total luxuries as we'd not grown up supporting a St. Mirren that played at these grounds. A St. Mirren where going to these places was taken as the norm rather than novelty.

The fact that we are so, SO close to finally adding our own experiences to the ones that guys now in their late 50s, early 60s got to do as young men feels almost surreal. I get that other teams clubs are like 'pffft, Europe, been there done that' but there have been times, decades long spells that European football wasn't so much a pipedream as it was simply something that just could never be achieved. I have said before that seeing us there just once will be enough and I stand by that.

Of course I want us in Europe on a regular basis but if you'd told me in the days of going to Stirling Albion having to win to essentially not go part time that we'd just get one crack at Europe in my life, given the utter shite we were always finding ourselves in, I'd have happily accepted.

  12. Was interesting that Dundee had an unwavering determination to play the ball out from the back at goal kicks today, particularly in the first half. Especially as they looked so uncomfortable doing so because of the height and intensity of our press.

The few times they did try and shell it in the first half, Gogic ate it up. As poor as they were, a lot of their errors were forced upon by us playing so high and so fast.

Olusanya is an absolute nightmare to defend against and he never, ever lets up. It's some turnaround in the guy in one season considering he had most of our support laughing at him when he came on vs Hearts in late 2022 due to how completely lost he looked and ended up punted to Arbroath off the back of it, where he also looked lost. Now, if he's not anywhere in the squad you'd be genuinely concerned.

If we don't push the boat out to re-sign Gogic, it would be sheer folly on our part.

Sure he's had a few dodgy moments, like all our defence has had, but other than that he's been a colossus.

Robinson said post match that everyone he wants to stay has an offer on the table and some have said they won't re-sign.

I feel Gogic is the one that's most up in the air and not settled one way or the other. He was ridiculously good today.

I've seen him mentioned a couple of times in this thread, but I'm not sure what he was doing.

He gave Hemming a full on bollocking for giving his shirt to a child in the crowd post match.

Zach gave him verbals fully back, though. The guy was an overzealous dick who nearly had a fit at Hemming because after he jumped over to hand the shirt over, a couple of supporters approached him for....brace yourself for this....a selfie.

    I dont want 4th.

If we finish 5th, the first game is during the school holidays.

4th, i think the second leg is when the schools are back, and i dont fancy having a debate with my wife over what is more important, a trip to Europe or the wean's first day at High School.

If we finish 5th, the first game is played in the same week as if we finish 4th as we'd play in Europa League rather than conference league if we were 4th.

The difference is if we finish 4th, we are guaranteed another tie if we lose as we'd drop into the conference league which would then be during term time.
