  1. Barton needs to be in central defence where he has the game in front of him.      He's the only person who thinks midfield is his best position.

Define was never the greatest but his continued loss of form since Booth got injured is worsening by the game.  He's now a liability who's lack of confidence is affecting the rest of the defence.

  2. Willie Millar is worse than Chick Young.   Those two are a whole different ball game to the rest.

Don't mind the rest of them too much.      Michael Stewart and Tom English are the pick of the bunch and Derek Ferguson seems generally excited and enthusiastic no matter where he's reporting from.

Heard next week which is believable as he's been '50/50' for the last three games but then again it's Cerny so not a clue.

Thanks for that.    Ever been actual word on what bit's broken this time?

So do I, although why we need another striker when there are obvious deficiencies in defence is somewhat more of a mystery.

He'll need to be some boy to dislodge McDonald, Smith and Kavanagh from the front line. And we've still got Andy Little to come back from injury.

Don't see Archibald letting him go on loan to you unless he's been given some guarantees on playing time and position

Hamilton's looked good on saturday, as did alloa's when we played them last week. Was shocked at the state of kilmarnocks though.

The pitch might have looked good but did you see the way the players were running on it.     It was almost as if they were on tip toes.

After subsidising buses to Aberdeen for the Scottish Cup quarter final via TV money, it's time for us to use the TV cash to keep out the away support and restrict them to the minimum possible under the rules.

    Rules :

"The Home club must make provision for the admission of such reasonable number of visiting supporters at every home League Match and Play-Off Match*  as may be agreed in advance with the Visiting Club and, in the event of their being unable to agree such number not later than 14 days prior to the date of the League Match or Play-Off Match in question, the number of visiting supporters allowed shall be determined by the Board whose decision shall be final and binding."

*[this rule is referred back to, from the separate rules for the League Cup]

Can't decide if that's brilliant or mental

Everyone freaking out and wanting to sign an average player once again. He's ok but he's not an improvement. There is a reason he bounces around clubs. Average at best and we don't need that. He'd still want a decent wage.

I'll laugh when Graham signs for another club with all this hysterical chat on the thread. Archie I am sure is working hard on options but hopefully some options that improve the squad and we can get in with a 2/3 year contract and possible resell value.

If Archie does bring him in then so be it and hopefully he can show he's a force in the league for us. I suppose we will wait and see.

Not really hysterical chat when it involves our options as striker for what should be a hugely important last 16 cup tie.

Unless of course you're happy to go with the suggestions made none of whom are actually a striker and one of whom is a full back.

Don't think it's hysterical to point out that that's not really acceptable

Indeed. We've agreed a fee with Aberdeen and the player wants to join. As Widge says though, there's plenty of rumours we're after a higher profile striker, and TW is mentioning a target of a similar standing, in his eyes, as MOH and Scougall, can't see that being Storey.

So, just to clarify.....a player has agreed to sign for you but will hold off, giving you the opportunity to sign someone better than he Is.

He must really really want to sign for St Johnstone

The available striker slot we're trying to fill is always going to be a tough one. We're seeking someone who is happy to play second fiddle to Doolan and the only players that are happy to fit that bill are young unproven guys in lower leagues/youth squad or players that have failed in leagues considered better than ours. Basically means we're likely to probably always end up with a bit of a haddie as a second striker.

How does that work?   Almost every Striker we've brought in over the last few seasons has started for us with Doolan relegated to the bench
