I’m sure there would have been plenty saying things not far off it prior to new year.
Last Season was far better than this one. And every single Rovers fan would’ve told you that every single week of this season.0 -
Hardly floats my boat. I am concerned by the blase attitude of your response
Signing sexually abuses a woman whatever floats your boat”
Right, Listen Val, Give it a rest.
He’ll never appear for us and I’ll be surprised if he’ll still be on our payroll by the end of the summer.
Even if he is, there’s no point coming on to a football forum and calling us out for it as we are only fans of the club. We didn’t ask for it. We didn’t negotiate the contract with him.
If anything, it was down to us, that he’ll never play for us.3 -
There has to be significance attached to the event for fans to have that party time though surely? A real desire to win, maybe a bit of fear of losing that such an opportunity much not come around again very often... There has to be something right?
As it is with the complete disdain clubs show for it (Killie have barely played six of the players that played in the semi) getting to the final hasn't got that achievement feel attached to it. And in my instance (and of most Pars fans I know) because they're so absolutely non plussed about going out, how can you then in turn feel the opposite range of emotion, the joy and happiness at winning a competition you feel so little about?
Football is a funny game though, I think that was the only round of the cup that I was actually at.
I never even watched the semi on the tv as I was busy that night. I wasn’t bothered either.
It didn’t stop me being out til the early hours this morning celebrating the cup win though. Its obviously nothing compared to the league cup or the Scottish cup, but I doubt I’ll ever see the Rovers lift either of those again in my lifetime. So I’ll settle for enjoying seeing them lift the only cup, I’ll probably only ever see them winning.
The only thing realistically that would trump us winning that cup would be to watch the Rovers finally get back up to the Premiership after 25 years away. But I’m starting to have my doubts that we’ll get to see that anytime soon either.0 -
What's the score wi' this now? It seems to have been forgotten.
We ended up giving it to you a couple of weeks ago when we beat you at Palmerston.0 -
I think dreadful collapse is probably a bit strong, we have only really lost one game against ICT, too many draws have been the problem, I have never thought our squad was capable of winning the league, since xmas the league has gotten a bit stronger, McInnes has made a difference to Killie and the likes or Morton, Qots and Dunfermline are a lot stronger.
One more win seals a play off spot which would be an absolutely phenomenal achievement and great that it still seems to be annoying so many other fans how well we are doing. I am sure most people with any sort of football brain would say the "dreadful collapse" has came from Raith Rovers. Best team in the division for the first half of the season and are now 16 points behind.
We were never the best team in the division though. The best team in the division sits top of the league. I think we were top for 1 week? I could be wrong on that but we we hardly the best team in the division for the first half of the season.0 -
So,
sixfive games to go for all, and without correcting for exact matchups, etc...
-Killie is assured fourth or better and Arbroath cannot finish lower than fifth.
-ICT and Partick are safe fromtenth, and are nearly safe from ninth as well (a win by each of them puts them certainly safe)any relegation worries, assured eighth of better.
-Raith can finishin any spotanywhere from second to ninth.
-Morton, the Accies, Ayr and the Parscannot go higher than third.
-Queens cannot go higher thanfifthsixth.
The battles look to be for fourth (Partick and Raith) and ninth (Ayr and Pars), with the first team of each pair in the driving seat. However, Partick vs Arbroath might change things a bit if Partick can snag the three points and allow ICT to potentially close the gap on Arbroath, and if Ayr can grab points from the Accies, the Pars will be truly desperate against Raith.
The pars can’t catch the promotion playoffs now not that anyone expects them to but you have them as not finishing higher than third but they’re 16 points behind Partick with 15 to play for1 -
They should, but Arbroath seems a bit ropey recently and you never know, even with three shitty teams chasing them, nothing is impossible.
We’re definitely not catching them and I don’t think ICT fans or Partick fans will say their chances are any different to ours at catching them
I’ll also put it out there that Arbroath will be in the final as well as I don’t think of the 3 of us will beat them over 2 legs after 2 tough games on the week leading up to them.1 -
Look up Liam Dick on Transfermarkt and select by all competitions and by season…then you can see where he played, what he was playing and for how long. It isn’t perfect, but it’s pretty solid.
It is not pretty solid at all.
Far from it.
It’s on the same scale as Wikipedia tbh.0 -
If we want to toss out names…
Jim McInally…Peterhead are struggling in League One, and even so are punching above their weight. Might be interesting to see what he can do with a reasonable budget, and he might be tired enough of the struggle up there.
Ian Murray…Has worked under a tight budget and certainly out performed expectations.
Kevin Thompson…But would he be willing to leave Kelty, where he seems to have an ideal setup and a lot of funds.
Paul Hartley…But he’s about to be in the Championship anyway, with a team he’s built and rebuilt.
Dick Campbell…But it’s more likely he’ll be poached by a Premiership side soon, if Arbroath doesn’t become one.
Jim McInally must be a joke
Paul Hartley failed miserably in this league with quite a big budget at Falkirk.
We have 0 chance of getting Dick Campbell
Kevin Thomson should be nowhere near this sort of list as he comes in the same category as Barry Ferguson where he’s only been at a club with a budget about 4 times anyone else in their league at Kelty and look what happened to Ferguson when he left.
Ian Murray is the only one from that list that I’d possibly consider tbh. In saying that, there’s a chance they could be coming up to this league this summer anyway so he’d probably fancy sticking around there.
If Goodwillie is still on our books, we’d struggle big time to find a replacement anyway.0 -
Ethan Ross being out would be v. v. good.
It would be as he’s been shocking for weeks/months.
It’s no surprise that we actually got our first win in 3 months when players like Ross, Zanatta, Tumilty etc were out.0 -
No, but a fellow fan mentioned him as McGlynn's potential replacement. Not a single club in the SPFL outwith Killie and Scottish Premiership clubs could get him. He'd want too much money. Since Christmas I've seen Ayr, Falkirk, Raith and I think Dunfermline fans say they should go for him.
The fan that mentioned him was saying he’d be the only manager, out of a job, out there that we should look at over John McGlynn. Which is True. There is nobody else out there I’d rather have over John McGlynn.0 -
Is this from the other side of the moon - Dick Campbell not signing Goodwillie highlights that he's a better manager than McGlynn
I wouldn’t say so, no.
I wasn’t the one that made that point though..[emoji848]0 -
Arbroath have had nothing like the injuries we've had.
What he meant, presumably, was that Dick Campbell wouldn’t have seen the morale of the players/fans drop that low by signing Goodwillie.1 -
Fucking hell Scott Brown rampaging around in the championship getting sent off and managing from the stands
He’s retiring from playing0 -
Tommy Wright, Jack Ross, Stuart Petrie maybe just 3 names that spring to mind
All 3 of them would laugh at our offers5 -
(I'm not at the game today, so I'm maybe lacking the visceral rage of others.)
There's no point sacking McGlynn. We're not going to get relegated. Worst case scenario, we finish somewhere in mid-table. Sack him and the best case scenario is another manager gets us to fourth and we lose in the playoffs anyway, which he still might manage himself given how garbage Caley Thistle are.
Just leave it til the end of the season and re-assess then.
You’re first sentence then made the rest of the post look weak.
Would you rather he stayed in the job for every other fan to walk away from the club at the minute as well? I don’t think any of us wants to continue to go to games knowing what the outcomes going to be.

I’m struggling to understand how you’re even coming anywhere close to that conclusion.I feel for you Rovers fans as your board have obviously total shat out throwing him in to the sea they obviously hope you guys forget all about him and silently welcome him back at end of the season.1 -
The good news for those asking is that Val McDermid has reacted.
Bit weird the condemnation goes only to our board and nothing Clyde's way, but whatever.
And no, I won't have forgotten about it. I am pleased it looks like we have a path to getting rid of him, but change is still needed at board level.
Once again, the only winner here is David Goodwillie.
2 winners in this.
David Goodwillie and Val McDermid who has used this whole horrible situation as a massive PR Stunt for herself.4 -
I see we have a semi again, phnar phnar. Any of you cuntos heading to Kilmarnock on Wednesday?
It’s on Alba Blurovision and it’s up against a load of other council telly FA cup ties.
Can we make the final?
I won’t be there, I also won’t be watching it as I’ve made sure I have plans that night. I really couldn’t care about that cup this season at all.
Get Arnott, Mitchell, McKay and Young on from the start0 -
I thought Varian was very good today, but I thought he was knackered with about 20 minutes left, as was Williamson
What was Williamsons excuse for the first 70 mins then? He was absolutely stinking today.0 -
What was the Thistle numpty put out for after 10 minutes?
Found with a tin of Beer in with him0 -
Willie Collum in charge for this one. Our last 10 league games with him in charge.
2-2 v Accies
0-2 v Kilmarnock
1-4 v Dundee Utd
1-4 v Ayr
1-2 v Dundee Utd
1-2 v Dundee Utd
0-4 v Ross County
1-2 v Dundee
0-3 v Rangers
2-2 v Rangers
I don’t have the stats for our last 10 with him in charge but from what I can remember, he seems pretty decent in games we have him0 -
Smudger stayed under the radar in this. Go to him and ask him to take over until June and then he and his misses will be free to seek other work. Optionally, if he wishes to follow JMcG, his misses can find another job now.
The minute McGlynn goes, Smith will follow suit0 -
Rovers fans getting the excuses in early, I see. I genuinely thought we’d see some bumper away crowds in the Champ. Mon lads. Stick on an extra jumper and batter down.
To be fair, we had quite a large support down there the last time from what I can remember anyway.
And was a fantastic atmosphere as well.1
Opposition players you would like to sign.

One things for sure. There’s more chance of that than him fancying a wee paddle in the seaside leagues with you lot next season
