Lets be honest we’re not going to get anyone to challenge gaston so he’s purely to sit on the bench and play the odd cup game, if gaston got injured we would probably get a loan in. That said i would have liked someone with at least a bit of experience in the leagues.

Surely we will see linn in an arbroath shirt one last time. Or we could call it “the persuade bobby to sign on for 1 more season testimonial”

For me this season gaston has probably proved he’s a better all round keeper than hinchy, as much as i loved hinchy I remember his kicking bring poor (not that gaston’s is brilliant) and he wasn’t great at crosses/corners.

Definitely. Would have kept hetherington and banks too but not too bothered about the others apart from linn but that’s different and i think he’s made the right decision. Good few new faces plus loans to come in, might need to look my boots out for the brechin friendly in 4 weeks time!

Some folk turned their nose up at mcallister in january, turned their nose up at hester and now aren’t happy with mcintosh, are the same folk expecting us to sign jack hamilton or nouble like? Like most have said I liked mcintosh when he was here, proven at this level and a decent all round striker.

Not really, I see your point but there has to be a consequence for being the worst team in the leagues and likewise there has to be a reward for winning the highland/lowland league.

Yeah tayblast kits were about 93-94, i think the windmill hotel kit was 96ish then perimax was after that but i might be wrong

I think the tayblast sponsored kits from the mid 90s is the last (and maybe only) time I remember sky blue on one of our kits

A dire season in terms of goals and entertainment, really need to question why linn was given such little game time considering he’s been our best attacking threat and joint top scorer, dont blame him if he calls it a day or moves on, he still has a lot to offer someone. Not saying he’s ready but shanks should never have been put out on loan either given our attacking options but that maybe easy to say in hindsight, adarkwa was a sick note and komolafe and lasagne were dire.

Grim viewing that when your second top scorer is a left back. I like shanks, I just think highland league to championship is too big a jump and although he got plenty of game time in league 1 he was part of a very poor peterhead side. Depending on our signings it would be good for him to go on loan to a team like montrose for half a season, he definitely has potential though and in hindsight should never have been put out on loan.

After our striking options last year nobody should be turning their nose up at hester. Yes he’s not proven above league 2 and im not sure he’d fit our style but i would absolutely have him as long as we had other options or a strike partner like o’hara, todorov or austin as well.

Just a fast mazespin. Surely merc cant be considering him, lando would be a far better option.

A bit off topic but as part of my hangover cure i went along to the brechin game today which was an enjoyable game for the neutral, it was a reminder of how far we’ve come as a club in terms of the ground, quality of players and even small things like kits. I’ve been moaning as much as anyone but after a difficult season with some dreadful performances and really poor recruitment (which even dick has now admitted) we are still in a great position as a club. Big relief to be safe as i had zero confidence in the playoffs but hopefully lessons are learnt and we can kick on next season.

Not confident at all for this one and i think morton taking something from cove could save us. Who knows what team he’ll put out there but as long as gaston is in the goals we stand a chance of scraping a 0-0.

I would add komolafe and fosu to that, the latter seemed to get a contract because of 1 good strike v montrose in a friendly which is now obvious it was a total fluke.

Very grateful for cove and hamilton being absolutely shite and for gaston being superb this season otherwise we’d be dead and buried by now. 3 out of our last 4 games are against teams around us and if we dont stay up now we dont deserve to. Hopefully it doesn’t come to it but our superior goal difference could come in very handy.
