  1. The state of some of these comments. 😂

There's been wholesale substitutions at half time in every game so far. Each half having a reletavely balanced team but none being the final lineup or best team. And I genuinely don't think any were planned to be. Purely fitness and giving everyone minutes and experimenting with a few things in meaningless games from a result perspective.

QoS game probably saw the closest to an actual league game starting line up.

I'd like to see a team of

    Currie

    Mcdonald, Crichton, Fordyce, McCann

    Kerr, Sabatini

    Robert, Stokes, Carrick

    New Striker

Mbayo looks like a solid back up to Crichton and Fordyce. McKay, OReilly and Ritchie will be challenging for a starting spot in midfield. Roy looks up for it this season and needs to prove he can be the man to keep getting the goals. Don't think Gallagher looks fully up for it so far and don't think he's the answer. The club are clearly looking for a new striker so whoever we get, I reckon they will be signed to be the main starter.

yep, how dare people have opinions, especially based on statistics!

Statistics of a league we know heehaw about from a level perspective, of a 20yr old. Hardly concise enough data to form a solid opinion on. Here's a crazy idea. How's about we give the guy a chance?

So far I'd say we've built a pretty decent squad and are doing well avoiding the usual dross of our level. We've found a couple of good prospects and this guy might be another one.

Anybody got a link to where I can sign up to watch the Airdrie v Queen of the South friendly this Saturday? A bargain at £5!

Where does it say that it's £5? Not seen or heard anything about this game yet. Think the £5 was for the Tuesday game testing the system with no commentary. Imagine it may cost more for tomorrows stream, but hope Im wrong.

Awe, thanks for that I was getting a bit concerned, mind you that will work the other way with ally Roy, that will no make him Pele scoring 2 goals,

Aw sorry, did I hit a wee nerve there? A player who was out of form scoring two goals will provide a much needed confidence boost. But if youd rather argue the case that he won't be any good then batter on.

I'm hoping he steps up and challenges for a starting place as he's young, quick and has potential to keep improving.

  5. Some of these posts about a. Couple of friendlies. Jeezo. Never surprises me how pessimistic some people can be so quickly. Friendlies are all part of training and fitness, nothing more. If we beat a better team than us 5 nil, I wouldn't see that as a sign that we would win the league, just like losing a couple of goals to Albion Rovers doesn't mean we are in poor shape. Robert has class about him and will prove it, as will Sabatini and Stokes. They all have something about them and our team better will be better as a result. Let's give them the opportunity to show that.

Just heard about the new signings in training, stokes and robert look very good. Sabatini hasn't looked so good so far, but will reserve judgement until he gets a few games under his belt.

Cool, was asking as I'd heard he was looking good too, as well as Robert & Stokes. Heard he's very mobile, quick feet and wants to contribute defensively as well as going forward so fingers crossed they all impress. Heard O'Reilly also looking very good. Think he will be challenging for a starting place so interesting times ahead!

That is a good question. I emailed the club about it sometime ago and did not get a reply. I sent a reminder and still no reply. I appreciate that there may be some complications to work through but I would have appreciated an acknowledgement but I am not surprised given the club’s track record on communication.

As someone else posted, the club did provide a communication about this in July. Given season ticket details only recently came out, I'd expect an update regarding PPV options to follow prior to the start of the season. It will happen although not sure of the price but I'd imagine there'll be a reasonable demand for it.

Partick have a decent squad on paper.  Unless McCall has totally lost it as a manager they will be up there and he knows this league. Their forward line is probably the best in the division. Keeping Rudden fit might be key. Our squad while looking decent has a few unknown quantities in it, and we will probably only sign a back up keeper and a defender unless the yank investment gives us leeway to add more. With it being a shorter season dropped points will be a big factor.  Airdrie, Cove, Montrose and East Fife should all be in with a shout of the playoffs.

Loving how, without seeing a single game, you've already decided its between Falkirk and Partick for the title. Thanks for throwing the play-off bone out there for a few teams.

Wouldn't have as much as that between Falkirk and Thistle. Looking at both squads there's not an awful lot between them but I suppose McCall has experience getting out this league.

Airdrie a reasonable EW shout and East Fife also slightly high for me. Not saying East Fife will win it but don't think they should be the same odds as us or worse odds than Dumbarton.

    What bookies is that with?

  10. It's an old cliche but it really was a game of 2 halves. Don't think any Airdrie fan was too despondent at half time. We were a goal down from a bit of luck and still in with a shout.

What was disappointing was how we folded in the second half, but that's where full time football and experience kicked in. Nothing to be ashamed of and there's plenty to learn from, but we move on now.

For the Stranraer game, I'd like to see us go 442 with Gal and Ryan upfront together, Smith and Carrick wide. Same back 4 and centre mid I'd prefer Roberts back in for McKay, so partner him with Miller. We need to be on the front foot and show less fear. We are 2nd in the league and at home so must go on the offensive from the start. We won't do that with the same team that started against Hearts.

  11. Don't want to be to over confident but there's a lot of posts selling Ryan short in my opinion. Why cant he come back as good as before, or even better? He's still got plenty years left in him, he's been playing, albeit not a lot, and training at a higher level with bigger exlectations. He will be coming back with something to prove and fire in his belly.

Not sure how he will fit in but I doubt it'll be super sub for the last 20 mins. We've struggled for goals in recent games and I think Ryan can be the guy to get them for us. More competition to keep the others on their toes.
