Agree with this but he seems pretty happy at Clyde. Not sure he’d leave them mid-season, especially if they get the go ahead to start playing again.
Danny Lennon brand of football is horrible though used to watch a good bit of Clyde and when they were poor Goodwillie would get them out the jail
Won the cup but it was a long time ago would sooner have Canning and Archibald over him
Jim McIntyer is settled up north with his familly getting him.might be a struggle

You don't half talk some amount of shite. Not this post specifically. A lot of this post though. And your a dreamer if you think any of the good ones have applied and haven't a clue about there ego
I would take talking s h I t e to actually thinking Ayr had a chance of any boss that has bossed in EPL
Ayr haven't any cash to get a top manager
Malky McKay and Billy Davies might just be desperate enough though but maybe not that desperate

I hope our new chairman is getting the right/sound advice from whoever - I'm picturing one or two agents working overtime in order to get their client in the door. My preference is still someone who's ambitious and has done well in the lower leagues (Petrie, Young, Murphy, Farrell etc) rather than a failed 'big name' from a higher league (Hopkins, Lambert, McCall, Levein etc). Houston could be a good shout though?
Lambert wouldn't apply based in England Stuart McCall is based in England Levein is based up here but lives in the east coast hardly likely and he probably can get another crack in England or SPFL
Petrie is based in Dundee hasn't a pool for players to come down so would take him out the running
Hopkins fits the bill though

No it isn’t chief.
Playing in a team that escaped relegation isn’t remotely similar to managing a team to safety. What part of his Motherwell career didn't you follow hhevess assistant manager escaped relegation in the dug out going through same ups and downs as his gaffer
I correct myself he was coaching with them

Not necessarily no.
Unless you’re one of McFaddens mates or on loan from a club where he has connections then a lot of players will perhaps want to play for a manger who knows what he’s doing.
McFadden may well turn out to be a decent manager but we are not the club for him right now. The last thing he needs is thrown into a dressing room where confidence is low and he has a relegation dogfight on his hands. We need someone used to being in the dugout who is able to get this group of players to raise their game and stay up and then build a good solid team in this league to try and get up. There is absolutely nothing to suggest that James McFadden can do any of this. We had our experimental appointment with Mark Kerr. Let’s actually appoint someone now with some managerial experience.Part of a team that stayed up at Motherwell on and of the park part of a Birmingham team that went down cos he was out for 6 months
Part of a Everton team that was always at wrong end of table think Smith signed him
Used to dog fights so there is that argument busted

The guy is no where near what we need currently , as you admit he has never picked a team on his own , taking a dig at a coach is a cheap shot grow up you absolute twat , read through this forum and you will see thousands of digs at more experienced coaches than Faddy
Maybe if he did pick the team we would have qualfied?
Can't say if he would or wouldn't cos you don't know
Just like you don't know if he would be a good or a bad manager for Ayr
What I can guarantee you though is that good players win leagues and games
And his name and reputation would attract more than someone like Kerr even McCall

Ayr United can be up in the big league again
Who ever comes in or who ever appoints the boss has to show ambition
Take a chance on a new young boss that is on the same wave length with the players
And not a old stick in the mud who knows Faddy could be the new Alex Ferguson when he went to St Mirren
Or he could be the new Ally McCoist when he was Rangers boss we will never know till he is given a try
I genuinely believe he will make a good manager for somebody and he has attributes to go far in the game even back to Everton with Duncs coaching

McFadden is surely in the Shelley Kerr bracket....
In all seriousness, he has done absolutely nothing to earn a management post. He could be part of a coaching team or work his way up from the lower leagues.
Was with Scotland under McLeish and Strachan and Motherwell assistant
Got experience of the best league in the world would bring a level of professionalism and high standards expected of any team wanting to go up
Got plenty of experience to step into a club like Ayr and is still highly thought of by a lot of people in the game
If he doesn't go into club management would like him to be under 21 Scotland boss would be a chance from Gemmill and Stark

I don’t think any first timer is worth a punt at moment , Faddy’s experience is not what we need , his last job he was in helping run a team with the supposedly best 24 players in their positions , he does not have that luxury at Ayr
Last job was Motherwell assistant and he wasn't picking the team there or with the national team
Taking a dig at any coach is a bit of a cheap shot when he only has them for two weeks and that time isn't all spent on the training ground either

How much experience did Stevie Gerrard have before Rangers or Lennon before Celtic?
Even to a Ayr degree with Burley who did well in this league before heading to Motherwell
Were Faddy would eventually leave for to in a few years if he did well

Faddy would be the sort of 1st timer that's worth a punt, he'll have book of names to be envied.
Correct thanks for replying first bit of common sence all night in here
Some of the boys in his over 35 team could still probability be close to a game not even kidding on
And players of a certain age who idolised him growing up would want to play for him so it's a no brainer

Canning and Archibald towould be string contenders Canning has his own sports company to might be worth a call both kept Hamilton Partick Thistle up for years with hardly any budget

Having an existing network of players to tap into is only one part of the job. It's certainly worth considering but i wouldn't rule him out over this alone. He has got current success on his cv which is something not all candidates will. He has done well at Montrose which is typically a difficult gig and well worth a punt imo
Sitting third Falkirk and Cove will go up they have bought they league third after 11 games to
Ayr United should be aiming a lot higher if not box office for someone like Faddy
At least someone like Hopkin or McIntyer that been and done it Butcher to allthough cant see it becouse of were he is
Hopkin did win league 1 for Livvy right?
At least its something had them playing good football to
I might even go back watching football under that kind of boss hood players around Greenock to like Ryan Sinnamon

Which will be the case but hey crack on if he is the main target it will only end in abject failure
My thread was right on this clearly
Glaswegian hating Ayr UnitedGlaswegian hating Ayr utd? Wtf are you on about
Why go with a boss with a tiny catchment of players he would know to work with like Dundee
When the football City of Glasgow is not far away with more players than any other City and potential managers that have played top level like Faddy
Sounds Glasgow hating to me or just really really stupid and Ill thought out

Ayr has had one or two loans from Hearts over the years were someone from club ferried them two and through back and forward

Just because we might get a manager that's been at Montrose doest mean he's only be going to sign players from the east coast
I never said he would read the post

Yup just as I thought. You’re really not worth listening to.
Goodnight.Being involved in football and trying to get players from Glasgow to go to Ayrshire teams I know this
And I also know there is a bus that leaves Glasgow with players heading north to first and second division teams but it never lasts
Same players cant be bothered and go lowland or pyramid nearer there homes

Why would he struggle to attract players?
He won’t be based up north if he’s Ayr manager.Becouse players might not want to play for him given the choice of going somewhere else with Glaswegian coaches and players they knew and have grown up bill with
And given the chance would go and play for another team that fits that bill
I doubt the players he has want to car pool to training to play for Ayr United
It's bad enough car pooling from Glasgow players are lazy and would only be interested if the money was in it for them
And we know it won't be cos every penny is a prisoner at Ayr especially with ground maintenance

Petrie is the outstanding candidate if you ask me. If he’s in any way interesting you should be appointing him. If we’re looking at a joke appointment though it’s Alan Stubbs for me.
Petrie would struggle to attract any players from the central belt he is based up north
West of Scotland boss has a better chance of attracting players from Glasgow
And the road Ayrshire player that has slipped through the net of Killie or Renftrewshire player St Mirren or Morton haven't tied up

Calderwood great at interviews. But a laptop manager. I wouldn't be surprised if Elvis got it
Pressley son would be a decent loan to be fair but appointing him to get one shoe in striker isn't the way to go
Faddy would get the best players from Glasgow in at the level even his contacts at Motherwell are good
Any English non league players who might not cut Premiership might at a push be good enough for Ayr to develop and move on like McCall and Shanks giving him a chance

No
Wouldn't be my first choice either
I would like to take a chance on Faddy it's a gamble that could be worth taking
Might be more experienced choices but think he could be a legend at Ayr playing good football attacking football
And finding a striker or strikers to work with shouldn't be a problem cos the lack of goal scorers historically hurtled Ayr find one 6 months to kate if they were lucky and a young loanee cut it

James McFadden could get Ayr better loans at Everton if he came
Lambert would be a massive appointment but doubt he knows the league
And his record in signing Scottish players anywhere he has been has been very poor
