  1. My mate's baby has been delayed till tomorrow. Coming out the sunroof.
  2. It was surprisingly good. Bernard Cribbins as a baddie...
  3. My mate's wife goes in tomorrow for a C section. It's their first. Note: different mate from the last post.
  4. Waiting on the phone to ring for clearing.....no bites so far. Come on guys! If you're messed up, give us a call...
  5. On autism, a friend of mine is having a hard time. He split up from his missus just before Christmas and she seems to have gone a bit doolally. They went to parents evening together in May and the teacher was saying how well their daughter was doing. My mate's ex kept butting in saying stuff like "well, considering she has been abandoned by her father, yes". Embarrasing for my mate (who has his kid 3 nights a week) and the teacher. Anyway, at the end of the meeting the ex says "I don't think she's doing fine. I think she's autistic." The teacher apparently gave them a look and told them that the kid was certainly not autistic. My mate was just shocked. The teacher has taught autistic kids before and my mate's kid simply isn't. But the ex has demanded that their daughter be tested and so that's what's happening.
  6. Strangely not saddened by the news. probably because the article said the showrunner was off making a new series, so there's something new in the pipeline.
  7. If season 4 is the last, I hope they make it a cracker.
  8. Watched Foxcatcher (also Mark Ruffalo). Utter garbage.
  9. Me and the wife like tattoo fixers on E4. Think it's hilarious. Quite like the redheaded girl, and even the wife agreed with me on that.
  10. She's got to be at least 50!! Hell, back in the mid 90s she graced the pages of jazzmags I was buying, and she was hardly young then.
  11. So! Exam results to Higher students released tomorrow. I've spent the last few days accepting or rejecting people based on their grades. For those waiting on the results coming, clearing starts tomorrow at 9 am. You can check the UCAS website to find out University decisions on you from 9 am tomorrow morning. If you've been rejected, get started on clearing.

    Hannibal

There's a scud shot of someone with a blonde wig on covering her face, more like. Watched eps 1 and 2 and it's getting better. Season 2 bored me rigid.
  13. Is this season 3 on Sky Atlantic? Not new I'm afrais
  14. Watching it last night and said to the wife: "Who's that?" "Sarah Harding from Girls Aloud" ... "Jeez, what happened to her? She looks like Zoe Ball's mum."
  15. I was disappointed in that. A kill-em-all finale to the season to close so many storylines, making them all pointless. Eps 8 and 9 were awesome though.
  16. Well I just finished watching season 3 on Netflix. Off that Netflix have it at the same time as channel 5. But anyway... Season 3 for me has been outstanding. Became a far more gripping show than in the early seasons. The big story lines of: have made this show much greater than number-of-the-week which the show was on season 1. Also: They're on season 5 in the US. Cannot wait, but will resist the torrent urge.
  17. I'll disagree here. Danaerys is the only surviving child of a king. Not just any king but a Targeryan, who have been kings for centuries. Stannis is the brother of Robert Baratheon who took the crown via warfare but otherwise had no historic claim. That said, he was the accepted ruler. Tommen is the legal (if not natural) son of Robert and until such times as his parentage is exposed has a proper claim. I'd say out of the 3 Stannis' claim is weakest.
  18. Just joined the Stannis Baratheon Official Fan Club
  19. In that case I am surprised at your sniffiness towards Heriot Watt - it's one of the best for graduate employment. But that only stems from all the bits you *don't* care about. Amount spent per student (i.e. resources put in to their education) is a big deal as it defines how well equipped the students are when they leave and compete against others.
  20. Depends in what way you look at it. The Guardian considered things like employment rates of graduates, amount of cash spent per skull, results of the national student survey etc. Some unis see students as walking fees (yes we get them even if the students are not paying). Others take it seriously. In terms of REF (research excellence framework) which measures academic contributions to research (i.e. nowt to do with teaching) the results are as follows for Scottish unis: Edinburgh - 4 Glasgow - 13 St Andrews - 29 Strathclyde - 30 Aberdeen - 31 Dundee - 37 Heriot Watt - 43 Stirling - 48 Glasgow Caley - 83 Napier - 97 West of Scotland - 100 Highlands and Islands - 104 Robert Gordon - 105 Queen Margaret - 118 Abertay - 123
  21. The Game really is excellent. Like The Americans but better.
