  1. Wondering where the spiders are at this time of year? I can tell you - my house. All of them. Put six out last night, including one that I felt strolling up my arm before I saw it.
  2. Definitely not happening. When I started explaining the costs - healthcare, schools, etc - enthusiasm died.
  3. The powers that be have decided that my office needs to be furnace-hot. You could fry eggs on my radiators right now. At home, I guard the thermostat with a big shitty stick.
  4. Anyone else having trouble selecting the answers today? After reloading the page a few times I managed it - 8 for Wednesday
  5. It's nuts to think that McLaren last won the constructor's title in 1998. They really reaped the benefits of poaching Newey.
  6. He did indeed discuss his days booking acts for Strathclyde Uni. Tremendous guest, he was.
  7. This season is starting to look like Button's WDC win in 2009. There, he won 6 of the first 7 races, and didn't win again that season. Clung on to the title lead to the end. This year, Verstappen has won 7 of the first 10 races, might not win again, but will probably keep the driver's title.
  8. I watched Law and Order: True Crime when it came out about 5 years ago. Pretty much the same show but with a better cast (Edie Falco, Josh Charles and others). Saw the first episode of this and it was just a bit inferior. ETA: Also Heather Graham.
  9. I was going to do a Star Trek post. But most of their finales are a bit meh, or terrible. The Next Generation (All Good Things...) and Picard had good endings. DS9 finished quite well, too. Original series, Voyager and Discovery were forgettable (in the first instance it was just a regular episode, Turnabout Intruder; all Voyager and Discovery is awful). Then we get to perhaps the worst ever TV series finale of them all - Enterprise. I don't think a show has ever had a worse ending than this.
  10. CCTV captures taxi driver pooing on Dagenham pavement
  11. The conversation has moved on now, Dave. We just need a list of which primates you are and are not willing to fist then we're all caught up.
  12. I blame Geoffrey from Rainbow.
  13. When I went to Flamingoland a few years ago, you could barely move for baboons fisting each other up the arse. Elbow deep, half of them were.
  14. Yep. The minimum unit price of alcohol will jump 30% at the end of the month. Your 5% stuff like Heineken will go from £2.50 per litre to £3.25.
  15. Hereditary peer crying his eyes out that Labour is banning them Delicious read.
  16. This is a consideration. Bigger salary but I imagine most of this would be gobbled up in paying for somewhere to live. To be fair also, I was interviewed for a job in Washington back in 2006, made it to the final 2 but lost out. So I have been down this road before but it was ages ago, different city, and so on.
  17. Been invited to apply for a job in the US. I'm not thinking of going for it, as I'm pretty well settled here and have family etc. But - the wife keeps wanting to revisit the discussion. I think she might be keen. But I am utterly uninformed as to what would be involved. For some context - the job is in New York, in Manhattan, and the starting salary is just over double what I am on now. If we moved, it would be me, the wife and my 14 year old daughter. Scott would stay here and live with my mum, and go to uni. Stay with us in the summers until he graduated. So, for the expats here - would the process of moving/paperwork/immigration/finding schools etc be a total ballache? Or worth looking into? I really am not thinking about it but the wife is asking questions.
  18. I thought it made some sense at the time. Lead driver in a works car, in the team that gave Schumacher and Alonso titles in the past. But he seemed to lose something there, and of course Renault (now Alpine) turned out to be a basket case team. Even now, they're midfield jobbers,
  19. The Americans was great. The couple ended up back in the Soviet Union, with their kids left behind in the US.
