I think the difference is the guy we’ve signed is 20 and it’s a 3 and a half year deal (essentially 3 as he’s not with us until the summer), I don’t think he’s coming in as the savour next season but certainly an option.

Orr is 25, if he really was this goalscoring machine then he would be playing for someone better than Stenny at his age.

I take it that is the party line Nathen, as you are one of those on the inside. Lets just ignore the fact that 25 year old Mr. Orr, has scored more goals than anyone at QP this season and that if he had been playing for use, he may have scored many more with the chances that we are making each week and missing.

Thomas Orr signed from Morton and was never part of our youth system.

He's scored most of his goals at League Two level or below, when he played for us in League One he scored three times in 27 appearances (a lot as sub admittedly).

How many goals has he scored for Stenhousemuir this season? As for him scoring below our level, we seem to be hoping a young man from Cambuslang Rangers, at least three levels below us, is going to score a lot of goals for us next year. Sorry about getting the facts wrong re Henderson guys but I am getting old.

It looked to me that we had a slight change to our shape yesterday, with Longridge and then Darcy sitting in behind the striker. More of a 4231 than the recent 433. We seemed more direct yesterday.

I particularly noticed it when McHugh came on as in his short spell he seemed to be more involved in the opposition box than I've seen him for a while. The last few games I've noticed that he's been having to drop very deep to get the ball and then he's a long way from goal with no one in front of him.

I'd like to see us go with that shape again but with Longridge out wide in place of Longstaff (afraid he's not impressed me) and Brown in behind the striker where he can have more impact on the game.

Darcy looked promising when he moved more central, so hopefully we have good competition for that role.

I agree Dracy looked promising and that McBride on that performance will never be a goalscorer, in fact on that performance he did nt even look like a football player. Regarding goalscorers, noticed that young Orr, who came through our youth system, is knocking them in for Stenhousemuir, scored again yesterday, and that the boy Henderson scored Alloa's only goal yesterday. Both proven goalscores, but we made no attempt to sign them in the transfer window. Henderson who was on loan at Alloa and was taken back be Celtic so that they could have a look at him, was available to be lent to us, if we had asked, but it appears nothing was done about him. Sad but true.

The commercial guy is doing the job he is paid to do. Cringey vids aside, he seems to be doing a decent job. Aye it's a constant bombardment of tweets and posts right now from his department but that's only because the club have nothing to tweet about actual football matters. Well no good news anyway. The team doing poor right now actually makes his job harder.

As for Haughey, who knows what his intentions and aims truly are as we've never heard from him so we only have the word of the President to go by. However I do know that we might not have got the required amount of members' votes to turn pro without promise of his investment, I doubt we would have won promotion to League 1 during a pandemic without him financing the 1st team (what standard of player would have signed for us and played for only expenses while the world shut down?) In fact, I'm pretty sure we'd be duking it out in the bottom half of league 2 right now. And let's not forget his money bailed us out when the initial Lesser build went tits up.

Well said Mick. Everbody is moaning that we have not signed anybody this month. The only signings that we need are a new manager and a goalscorer. We have I believe interveiwed people for the managers job and indeed it has been suggested that Jack Ross is the man that QP want but after his interview in the Sun it appears that he is in no hurry and that he does not want to come to us, certainly at the moment. As far as a goalscorer is concerned, please tell me who is available?

We owe WH a lot and without him Mick, is right, we would be duking in League 2

Genuine question, is Will Baynham actually still at the club? I get he had a serious concussion back in July and he’s not been able to play but he’s not even mentioned as being out in previews anymore and doesn’t appear to be in any training pictures, whereas he was in them a few months back. A real shame how it’s panned out for him this season

Shame about Baynham.  Falkirk fan I know, has just told me that Keena has left the club. Could we get him back?

Willing to give Thomson the benefit of the doubt for now, the whole team has been so poor for such a long time that it's really difficult to judge. He did have a couple of decent games to be fair, and Beuker has spent his whole career developing young players (very successfully) so he must see something in him.

Can only agree with you Zanetti. The lad has ability.

With the Lowland League back in operation and a good number of them without a park and sharing the all weather parks near Glasgow, there weren't many alternatives.

Nonsense Diehard. Hamilton would have been available certainly, the could have done with the money.

The pitch is waterlogged. It has nothing to do with undersoil heating. I very much doubt that this will be the last match postponed at Firhill before the winter is out. There is no rugby being played at the ground but the pitch has been steadily deteriorating. As far as Queen's Park's choice of ground for this season is concerned, I certainly would have preferred Hamilton.

Hamilton is exactly where we should have gone and I said this at the start of the season. The Scottish winter does not allow for a game on grass each week. Please don't anybody come back and point out that Hamilton were at home yesterday, because, if we had been playing there this season, our fixtures and indeed Hamilton's would have been arranged accordingly.

Considering how ridiculously depleted our squad was against Airdrie through the week, I'm not remotely surprised by this.

I think that QP asked for the game to be off  because of the goalkeeper position. Of the 13 players available one must be a goalkeeper. Think all QP keepers must now have Covid. Just a thought.

Cove will win the league. QP no where near it.

Totally acceptable by QP fans if we had a group of honest lads fighting for it…. but…

Wage budget does not match the pitch value. Players earning as much as their SPL contracts. That is a FACT and not up for debate (don’t question it if you don’t have a clue).

Struggling to defend this group and Manager. Good luck in 2021.

I hope they have a burst of quality and unity but it’s so far away. I can’t see it coming.

    Back to the darts…

Like Charlie how do you know this re wges? Players on the same level as SPL, nonsense.

We received £2.5million from the association who shafted us. Not £5million. It was the generosity of private benefactors that sweetened the pill. Nobody was expecting market value, but I don’t think it’s unreasonable to be slightly irked at the SFA paying under 10% of that value.

10% of what figure are you saying that QP received? Of the £5m that was agreed £2.5m up front and £250k per year for the next ten years and daft as you think the committee may be, the current President works in finance and I bet that QP have a charge on Hampden until QP have all of the next £2.5m. As Hampden Die Hard stated QP had lots of debt that the SFA took over.

I emailed the club about becoming a member back in July, after being unable to find any information about it on the club website. More than five months later I have yet to receive a reply. Doesn't exactly give the impression they're keen for new members to join.

I am suprised to hear that. I gave up my membership because of certain things had happened. Before WH I would point out, and in that time 2 members of the supporters club have been elected onto the committee, Greame Shields and Gregor Hall, get in touch with them about being a member, or indeed Keith McAllister and they will I am sure point you in the right direction.

Not sure if it was foolishness. Incompetence more likely. When you’ve spent your career in an institution like the NHS and work in a world where underlings still have to address you as Mister, that’s not the profile of someone negotiating over millions of pounds. Or when a President stands up and says lI’ll do everything possible to ensure Queen’s Park’s future” why didn’t they sell the property, wind up the standalone company running the debenture scheme. As for the Lottery grant, this was paid by the Millennium Commission which was wound up in 2006. So how did we owe any money on that? And why had we a debt for a grant anyway?

I was told by an ex committee guy that all grants etc were made on the basis that, there would be football played at the stadium over a 40 year period, and if the SFA had moved to Murrayfield, while QP could have played on, ther, was no way QP would have been able to maintain the stadium.

Do you honestly believe Hampden and the surrounding land was only worth £2.5million? Gun to the head “take it or sink.” Our old home now lies empty every second Saturday as we have to trudge across the city as well.

They bought a mansion for the price of a garden shed because they knew the alternative was our club sinking. They were happy for that to happen and nobody else gave a shit. Just because things have worked out well in the end with Haughey doesn’t change a thing on that front.

Thought it was £5million? £2.5m downpayment and the rest over 10 years at "250k per year, plus the SFA taking on the debt that QP would have had regarding the debenture scheme, plus any grants that QP had received which are there over a 40 year term. That's what I understood the deal was and we would not have got that, without WH offering to donate £2.5m to the SFA to allow them to do a deal with QP as they were only offering £2m and were seriously going to move to Murrayfield without WH's money.

One of the challenges to having a wraparound stand is the ground elevations on the outside of the boundary wall, as you can see below. The south-east corner is lower in both directions. The boundary wall is staggered to accommodate the rising elevations. To have a continuous stand with an even roofline, to give the best aesthetics from inside the ground, needed cladding introduced to infill the gaps between roof and walls. You can see on the new design drawing published on our website that is now included. This significantly adds cost not only in material but with a more complex construction and a specialist contractor to sign it off. It also means that with the roofline now being at a constant height, structural steel columns will vary, again adding complexity. Introducing complexity increases the risk of mistakes and thereby delays, added cost etc. This suggest to me that the new architect has been given a much better brief and also that we will need to employ a contractor with relevant experience to do this. We’ve moved from a very simple tin shed to an integrated design with architectural feature. Presumably when the north stand is eventually built it will follow a similar design. Celtic Park’s new stands were built in 3 stages but finished to look like a single continuous stand.

I also noted from the images published that the floodlights are featured. These are mentioned in the planning consent re light pollution etc. but they are actually one of the key elements with regard to the SPFL requirements to have the ground licensed. They haven’t been mentioned previously. I suspect these and the wall-hung Director’s stand were two of the main problems in the original contract.

The only thing I don’t see yet that would be useful is a pukka club shop which I would have built-in to the South stand but with a shopfront onto the street. The shop could then be opened when the community teams play, or reserves or just about any time. Just to the right of the current pavilion, suited with similar glass design, colour scheme. And of course a back door that allows stadium tours to exit via the shop. Just a thought…..

Whilst the original pause seemed to be about contractual difficulties, the subsequent introduction of new staff and the increased availability of investment has allowed a more ambitious design. The end result now looks like a football stadium rather than a converted training ground. The champagne will stay in the fridge until it’s built but it looks like we’re on the right track now. Just have to get it built!

Good comment about a club shop, but the fact that this is not in the plans, suggest to me that when they move the pitch to build the away support stand, that when it is relayed it will be a grass pitch and that the youths etc will be playing in Toryglen

Demolishing the farmhouse is an act of vandalism, and we can only hope that this doesn't happen.

No problem with demolishing it, but no comment about a west stand being built, and in moving the pitch, are we going to see a new grass pitch put down and the youth teams traing at Toryglen?

Wayne Rooney. Hat-trick in a pre-season game not long before he scored his big breakthrough goal against Arsenal.

Mad to think of a top flight English side sending practically a first team up to play against a fourth tier Scottish side now.

Yes, and if I remember he was only 16 at the time, and the reason they played us, was because our ex-player, Alan Irvine was at that time, the Everton assistant manager.
