  1. I have. By several folk connected to the club and one of its main sponsors. I live and work in Inverness and its common knowledge.
  2. Gonna try to look at this from a slightly different angle. Derek knows Considine ain't a full back. Derek's wanting Shinnie. Shinnie wants to play for Aberdeen, most folk connected to Caley in Inverness seem to think this is how the player is feeling but say "don't say I said" when they say it. Several folk who seem to be in the know thought the deal was a cert if the offer was acceptable. Dons probably put in a tiddly offer, Caley said "f*****g no chance". Derek possibly pushed for an increased offer but board said no. Good chance he will be an Aberdeen player in January or next season but Dons board lack of ambition leaves us open to him getting better offers. If a club who weren't a rival of Caley came in then Caley will obviously deal easier with a non rival.
  3. Derek must, must know. Its obvious to our opponents who've been targeting left back area for months. Canna understand why we let a decent defender go when we're short on bodies in there and have no left back. Either these an iron getting pulled out the fire before 11pm or he's settled for Shinnie in January and hopes we manage till then. Opportunity missed I reckon. We bit of ambition and dons were looking good
  4. Please don't spell Macleod like that. Decent deal for both parties if true. Good player
  5. Crazy. Not even July and there's a game this week!!! Canna go as I'll be in Center Parcs getting royally fleeced!!! To the folk who've been at the friendlies, how do you think the young lads will cope, if called upon, until (hopefully) we get another forward? Seems like we'll get one or two more signings in hopefully but just now we're lacking up top. How good is Shankland?
  6. Anyway I and 2 of my pals (one of them a Celtic fan) just decided we didn't like the baggage of the OF and started to follow Partick Thistle. We were all 16 at the time and only just getting used to making our own decisions I suppose. I only spent one season as a Jag before moving North to stay with my Mother, 1977 if I remember correctly. Aberdeen were the nearest senior club at the time and my Mother's hubby was a season ticket holder, so that was that, a Don ever since. I don't know how old Daso is but I would imagine it to be a tougher decision as an adult than it was for me as a teenager. I would guess he's still quite young. I cannot envisage a circumstance where I would chose not to support Aberdeen. His reasoning though, looks quite sound and understandable. Apologies for those that have heard this already but the new guy expressed an interest. Thanks for the reply. Appreciate it. I know a guy who was brought up in a Celtic family, supported them until he was late teens then Mo Johnson signed for Rangers and he switched!!! I also know of a well known ex Highland League player in these parts who was Dons daft then Sourness came along with Murray's (banks) dough and became a Rangers fan!!! Your reasons are more down to being a young gadgie and family circumstances I'd guess? Maybe my examples of guys changing team are poor examples as the individuals concerned are fickle f*****s but still don't think I could switch
  7. I've read this thread for ages but didn't post until today. I've never liked Rangers but I'm not going to come on a thread and pretty much anonymously goad folk about the demise of their team as I know it means a helluva lot to some folk and in many cases far too much. Wee bit of banter when a result goes wrong is fine enough for me. I am interested in how people could change teams and be just as much of a fan as they were previously. Forever-blue's post I'd guess is how most folk would feel. Understand where you are with the merger thing. The reason I guessed Jags was they were the more wronged party in the merger (takeover) I think for a lot of older ICT fans who uses to follow other teams the real attachment isn't quite as strong. With Rangers fans this is why they are so vociferous in claiming its the same club. I find it understandable that they know if it was widely accepted it was a new club then their hearts wouldn't be in it nearly as much.
  8. Thanks for the reply. I may be wrong but is it possible you were an Inverness Thistle fan? The question of changing clubs is more pertinent in this part of the world due to Caley/Jags/ICT and other Scottish clubs all being supported prior to the merger. Anyhow, you say you are unable to muster the same attachment to the new club and this is my point. Changing your team for whatever reason would surely make it hard to have the same attachment to your new chosen team. It was one of the reasons I doubted that the average Rangers, fan in the event of them ceasing to exist, would latch on to another team and spread the wealth. I appreciate also where you are coming from with the emotion thing but surely the ups and downs, the hope and excitement pre match, the highs of occasional success is why we all bother with the game? My emotional state is fine ta. I think its natural to be down when my team loses. I don't cry, hit folk, kick the dog etc and as far as my kids know I'm in fine form.
  9. Dasodaha, your club change is an odd one. I know a few guys who've changed clubs and I thought they were then not to be taken seriously in a football conversation ever again. Slightly different here as your club died but not overly shocked Hearts was the choice. Can you expand on the reasons? Maybe you live in Gorgie? Family members are Jambo's? And if Sevco suddenly got an unlikely cash injection and were challenging again would you be back at Ibrox? Not having a dig but when my team win or loose it has an effect on my mood for the next good few days. Folk have a big emotional tie to their team. I'm not sure it could be the same for me if I supported some other side.
  10. Its good to see the club getting off to a flier as regards the decisions on the squad. Things seem better off the park as well. Possibly due in some part to the positive attitudes from guys like Yule and McInnes. For years most AFC news just seemed depressing but not so now. Looking forward to seeing who's brought in. Really struggle to see anyone coming in for a fee so I'd not expect to see Shinnie although he's been linked. Need a keeper who can genuinely challenge Langfield, couple of full backs and a decent forward.
  11. IF the Dons can get passed the Saints it'd be a cracking final. Despite the opinion in the previous post BOTH teams are well worth watching. Also say a big IF as after Aberdeen went 1 up in the LC semi they hardly touched the ball for 25 minutes such was St Johnsone's dominance.
  12. Genuine question to fans of clubs in the SPFL out there, apart from Celtic fans. Are you enjoying your season more? Less? Or no difference without rangers? It's easy for me to say I'm loving it as my team (Dons) are doing well so perhaps other fans can share their thoughts. Armageddon talk, as you all know, was a feckin nonsense but I'd be really interested to know if even the fans of teams who are having a poor season prefer the top league now with no rangers?
  13. Wouldn't it be nice, even for just one day, if Sevco and Sellik fans on here could debate/argue about football without mentioning religion, terrorism, what school someone went to etc. Even an Irish sounding surname ramps up the paranoia levels!!! The them and us obsession is truly pathetic. I'll accept sometimes its so daft the rest of the tolerant people can get a giggle but it makes you wonder if parts of Scotland will ever grow up? Loonies
  14. In all of this it amazes me why the media don't ask the questions that seem obvious to normal punters? That both Sevco and non Sevco fans must be thinking. When any journalist asks anything like a relevant, probing question and then gets a flimsy answer they accept it no problem without saying "hang on, that's bollox" has anyone heard a reporter, pundit ever ask "Ally, how much trouble are you actually in as to me it looks really bad so your fans must be worried?" I'm not an expert by any means but if I was involved with a business with this sort of attitude to cash I'd be shitting bricks.
  15. I'd like another summer of entertainment from sevco similar to the one we all giggled at when Rangers started to perish. The World Cup will be on at stupid o clock so us football fans need something to keep us going. I've bought a popcorn maker just in case!!!
