I’ve never really understood the reported crowds at the Rock If that crowd is accurate the stadium wasn’t even a third full. Really?

Favourite quirks of Scottish stadiums.

The Rock is only ten minutes walk from two different railway stations -

Agree with you but i can remember my dad saying that in the seventies - abolition of the maximum wage was where it all started to go wrong -

Odd how I could easily name every player in that line up without the benefit of the note underneath the picture but I would struggle to name even twenty percent of players who have played for us over the last five years -
It’s an age thing. If you’re over a certain age you will be directed to the old site as you won’t like change

Bonnyrigg Rose vs Dumbarton
Nowhereman replied to microdave's topic in Scottish League 2 General Chatter
He’s probably one of the Sons ‘supporters’ who frequent our Facebook page. I see the usual suspects were out in force saying how ridiculous it was that we couldn’t beat Bonnyrigg -
Bonnyrigg Rose vs Dumbarton

I wouldn’t say it was a point rescued. Either team could have won. We just didn’t look sharp enough in the box but had plenty of opportunities. A real retro afternoon tho. No turnstiles just a guy with a plastic tub taking money, no terracing just a grassy slope, a pitch that made the common look good, no proper toilets, no cover for the away fans, no lighting in the way out. A great 1970s experience. Thoroughly enjoyed it -
No league games scheduled that weekend to give the Challenge Cup the prominence it deserves

The Terrible Journalism & Tom English Thread

Of course the teams aren’t equal. But reporting should be objective and when both teams are in the same division it shouldn’t be seen as a major shock when one premier team draws with another -

So you’re saying that if any team gets a draw against rangers or Celtic it’s fine to report on it as if the teams aren’t equal That’s one of the main problems with Scottish football journalism - that everything is reported on from rangers/Celtic’s point of view -
Clyde FC; Season 2022-23

Can you imagine what the cup tie will be like. Neither team will come out of their own half -
It's not been normal for us to play a whack of fixtures during the festive period for years. In the last decade, we've only had an additional new year game twice (2013 and 18) and there haven't been any scheduled midweek Boxing day fixtures. We did play Livi in 2017 on the 26th but that was a rearranged game having been postponed a few weeks earlier. Last year there were fixtures arranged for Boxing day/2nd January which were both on a Sunday with no game since the previous weekend. Really surprised by that, my memory is clearly going
-
What I don't get is why there was no New Years or Boxing day additional fixtures this year. Normally you have a Saturday and midweek game yet this year there are none

You thought that was entertaining? And that the opposition didn’t have vast spaces to exploit? If we sat any deeper we’d be in the Leven. I know we won, I know we kept a clean sheet and I know we are top of the league. But that was dreadful. Ninety minutes of sitting in our own half in the hope that one of our long balls might lead to a break which gives us a goal. Yes in the end it worked but it’s a helluva way to spend ninety minutes

It’s not a terrible business decision at all. Footballl without spectators is nothing and the more steaming that is allowed the less people that will attend. When we reach the stage where the big clubs, not just in Scotland, are showing all their games live on tv at the same time as clubs like Dumbarton are playing then the lower leagues will be finished
-
Surprised they didn’t go for Boxing Day. Thought that the crowds were shown to be bigger then rather than just before Xmas

The next round isn't until 21st January so there is plenty of time. Anyway Saturday night it is.

I think fans are entitled to moan about what is a highly unusual if not unique arrangement. I couldn’t make the Cumnock game because it was a Friday night and now I can’t make the Clyde game because it has been arranged for the Saturday night. The Scottish Cup is a big part of our season and to miss both games is pretty annoying. What I don’t get is the suggestion that no other time is available. Are Clyde saying that if they have a home league game postponed they won’t be able to rearrange it? Because that couldn’t be on a Saturday night

I should have picked that up. I’ve got most of the Beatles Saturday club recordings. Too late at night to notice -
