I looked away from my telly for a second just before Eilidh Barbour said she had "Michael" with her.

    Imagine my immediate disappointment.

I did the exact same had a look at a text and looked straight back up when she said it

    Because he moved once

And you could see that from the angles shown in the TMO? Close decision but not convinced especially on the angle that showed his own hand stopping the grounding of the ball.

Absolutely. I don’t shout abuse at players and manager during the game unlike a few I can think of but I meant that I came on here and said he wasn’t up to it. To be fair, we’d got humped 5-2 at home & he gave the viccy to the home fans, I do think a few angry posts were justified.

Being down in Suffolk I can't comment what went on that game as I wasn't there but if I was at work and there were a group of guys watching me and hurling abuse at me I sure as f**k would make do more than flip them off. Its alright using arguments like they pay their money and can have an opinion but if you give it out you have to be able to take it back aswell. Nature of the beast.

Scotland has too many clubs 42 is far too much for the size of the country.

2 leagues of 16 is enough, regionalise the rest.

    Phase 1

Teams  play each other Home and Away once, 30 games

    Phase 2

Split into top 8 and bottom 8, 37 Games

    2 Teams relegated

League below 1 straight promotion Playoffs for the second spot.

Introduce Alcohol sales inside grounds on a trial basis with some clubs.

Get rid of Hampden and the money saved from that can go into Youth development schemes, improving clubs facilities, Safe standing areas for clubs etc etc

load a pish. Why are people so hellbent on a split anyway? I don't mind the split as it just now but we aren't in the best set up we could be.

How does it have too many clubs?

All the clubs that are currently competing on a national level are comfortable doing so. Nobody is in any financial difficulty, why should they have to play regional football?

It could possibly kill their club. Montrose playing in a league with the local junior teams or in a senior league with current Highland league clubs would be a total disaster for them.

A 16 team league would leave the vast majority of clubs with absolutely f**k all to play for. So many meaningless games.

The structure just now is fantastic, only 5 teams in L2, 4 teams in L1 and 4 teams in the Championship won’t be playing for anything come the end of the season. In the Premiership teams battle it out until the split, then 6 teams compete for the top 4 spots and 6 teams compete to avoid the bottom 2.

None of this would be possible in your structure, which sounds absolutely shite. It’s not alone in this thread though.

Greenied for the top bit about financial difficulty. I don't agree we are fine how we are in terms of the leagues though.

If this was the ideal set up for competitiveness why doesn't Germany, Spain, Italy et al jump on it?

What's the argument for keeping them? Sorry but the likes of Annan, Edinburgh City etc bring nothing to the table. East Stirling have found their level others should too.

If East Stirling have found their level then surely Edinburgh City is ditto. They got promoted and have managed to stay up there so far.... Now if East Stirling got relegated, L2 became a closed shop again and Edinburgh were continually finishing last then you may have had a point but the fact is we have a pyramid system in place just now (albeit not a great one) so teams can find their level.

Aye, saw he was in TOTW too. To be fair I think they just pluck a random name from a team that’s done well & stick them in, I would have had a few in before him. However, he still played very well!

We’ve dropped him back into CDM due to injuries and he hasn’t been dropped since. It seems natural to him. It’s like Kris Boyd & Stephen Simmons rolled into one.

I was one who was very unimpressed with Fleming at the start but he’s winning me over. Playing without the fans, myself included, off his back seems to have done wonders too.

Which shows that getting on the players backs during games will only knock their confidence even more and won't help in the slightest then, no?

I think the generating the fans is the biggest problem a 3rd team would have.  As has been seen everywhere (except for the Wasps move which has been done exccellently) when you create a new franchise you never get the backing you think you will, and it takes years to develop. Look at the state of the pro teams in wales for example, as compared to the Irish. Irish went with the 4 pre-existing provicinces as a pro model and it has gone very well for them, the Welsh had a strong club set up, but went with districts and the fans were never that interested and many stuck with their clubs in the welsh league.

I think Scotland defiately has the players and coaches to fill a 3rd team, i think the issue is more having the money to finance them. If Glasgow and Edinburgh were a bit more self sufficent (I think Glasgow could be with a larger ground) then it would be a possibility.

Im not convinced by the 6 team semi pro league at all. The idea that there is a good quality semi-pro set up below the Pro Game is a sound idea, what they are putting in place isn't. I would maybe have gone with the best 8 current clubs and shared the money out between them each year, had promotion and relegation etc would have been a much better idea.

Do you (or anyone else for that matter) have any decent links that show the details of the 6 team semi pro league? Being in Suffolk the stuff i've seen mostly on it is on here so not sure what I think of it yet. The only thing I would say is a 6 team league sitting just below the pro league doesn't sound like a good number of teams and you'd think they'd want more

Interesting assessment. We both know that investment would be made into the squad with a few foreign players, maybe a few ex internationals etc. So long as development and progress is seen to be achieved then vast sums of money doesn't necessarily need to be spent in getting a third pro team being at least competitive. The teams you watched should in theory be good enough as "squad players" and would they be far off the standard at times like the international windows? Big issue I think is fan base and the potential lack of it although player and coaching depth is also a concern for me.

This. Rugby is getting more popular in Scotland I think but most people I know that are only just getting into it have no interest in club rugby at any level and just want to watch international. That maybe brings a different question though of if a new club could convince some of those guys to go follow them.

There's also guys like myself who don't really support one specific club, not sure how many of us there are but some of them might end up getting attached to this new club if its local to them. (fwiw I don't think I would end up solely following the new club I enjoy watching both Glasgow and Edinburgh and wanting them to do well, I also enjoy when i'm in Scotland if theirs a local game on I can make going and watching that without having to support anyone).
