  1. I personally think that, if compensation wasn’t an issue, and that Goodwin was the man our board wanted, he’d jump at the chance. If he’s a manager with aspirations to manage at the highest level possible then full time football would be the next logical step for him.
  2. Maybe the Italian Coldplay fan club will look to buy tickets for this gig they are playing at Starks Park?
  3. Reading between the lines, if Smith is citing boardroom issues for his resignation, especially if the withdrawal of funds is true, the board are perhaps worried that he may claim constructive dismissal and try and put a claim in. That’s maybe why we are in talks with him.
  4. Nope... I can’t remember which one he was at but it wasn’t ours. I wouldn’t be too keen on Houston. He left United saying he had done all he could. Jackie Macnamara came in and brought through Gauld, Souttar, Armstrong, Robertson etc. Then at Falkirk he was given big budgets but failed to get them promoted. Mcglynn or Duffy for me!
  5. He was commentating on Radio Scotland on Saturday so couldn’t have been him.
  6. Totally off topic but to answer your question Scotty, I didn’t rate Goram as a top class keeper. A few very good saves, one against big Pierre Van Hooijdonk springs to mind but I always thought he was under tested due to the success of the team he was in and was over hyped.
  7. Based on what? He played a couple of friendlies and looked poor in the air at crosses as he was very short for a keeper. He looked capable at youth team level in the few games I saw him play but nothing to say he would have been first team level.
  8. I took them that day as well Herve! That was the final. The Hopemeister denied me glory with two saves from three!
  9. I just saw David Berthelot buying a roll and sausage out the corner shop at the top of Ramsay Road! He’s coming home...
  10. I almost spat my irn bru out when I read the post saying it did happen in Ireland!
  11. I’d imagine we would have offered the same terms to Flood and Gillespie with the intention of signing one of them. The same goes for Cardle/Flannigan and Nisbet/Loy. We were never gonna sign all 6. Also, it was highly unlikely someone like Cardle would accept the same terms as Flannigan but there’s no harm in offering.
  12. Arguing over who is bigger between Morton and Raith is like one dwarf boasting he’s taller than another. Give yourself a shake, you’re starting to sound like a Dunfermline fan.
  13. Supporting your local team, when it’s a small club like ours is pretty hard going. Moments that make you proud of your club are pretty few and far between. Wining the Coca Cola cup and the European adventure are obvious ones. Turnbull Hutton’s rant against Rangers that prompted Scottish football to stand up and take notice is another. Most recently though, the whole Hans/Martin/Eric thing is right up there! Wondering who the guy really is reminds me of childhood excitement in hoping that Santa Claus was indeed real, or dreaming that you could nip into a phone box, pull your jumper up to reveal a superman outfit underneath and fly off to save the world!
  14. I assumed it would be a central two of Wedderburn and Gillespie?
  15. The issue with that is paying Smith off. Let’s just say he was due £30k, there’s money coming out of another budget somewhere to pay him. I’d rather keep Smith and put every penny available into the squad. I’d guess we can’t have both.
  16. I think it’ll be pretty much the same these days. All the interviews etc are done at Micheal Woods and I can’t imagine any reason why the players or management would need to use the stadium other than for matches. Sim said that we only use the stadium for 3 hours, around 20 days of the year... out of 365! Not a great way of attracting sponsorship etc. The pitch was the first part of getting more use of our own facilities and to be able to attract more investment as a result.
  17. The safe standing section wouldn’t be in front of the main stand, it would be at the North stand side, the are looking at putting a shelter over the currently open section with standing in front of it. The idea is to go back to having all 4 sides of the ground in use on match days again.
  18. Everytime we tease a signing announcement I can’t help but remember the time East Fife did the same and then announced it was a new tractor! Absolute gold! What a bunch of diddies! edited to add... up there with not being able to field a keeper and loaning our best player out to relegate us.
  19. Will be playing in the juniors in a couple of years. Tried hard but doesn’t have any pace or enough ability to cut it. Even in the seaside league.
  20. Spence was told long before the season ended that he wouldn’t be offered a new deal. You only need to look at the team lines from the last couple of months of the season to see he was out of the managers plans. Raith will be the bottom rung for full time though. In the past, under Mcglynn, we had a mostly full time squad with a few part time players thrown in who were earning a good wage in civi street and didn’t want to give it up for the uncertainty of a 1 or 2 year deal. Lets face it, if a player is on 30k+ in his own job, and can get a couple of hundred quid a week part time on top of that, it’ll be far more than most championship teams will be offering. Rory Mcallister and Mark Whatley are two that spring to mind. I’d also suggest that with fitness and going to the gym being very much in fashion for young guys these days, there won’t be much difference between the levels of full and part time players fitness levels either.
  21. Ahh the old Gregory Tade rumour gets dusted off for another summer...
  22. Good use of multi quote Lister. You’re probably the kind of human being who can tell me exactly what trains passed through Kirkcaldy train station on specific dates and buys commemorative stamps.
