  1. Overall obviously happier of the 2 sets of fans, encouraging stuff and felt Thistle treated it as more of a pre season friendly which probably showed. A word for some of the antics at the end outside the away stand. Some strange strange weirdos who seem to follow us away from home looking for fights. And fair play to a Partick (maybe “ultra”?) who told some of our freaks to calm down given a lot of their lads were 13 years old - seemed to diffuse the situation. Embarrassing.
  2. Walked out of there pretty heartened, although not sure I’d have said that if we lost the shootout! First 30 mins was nothing short of excellent, could have been 2 or even 3 nil up. Mcginn and spencer with the freedom of firhill to spray it to whoever they fancied. Donaldson and Lang also using it pretty well from the back. Good goal, but then we reverted to type a bit and they had the last of the ten mins where they could’ve equalised with a back post header and some pressure. Agyeman (for what is going to be a common theme) excited and then mostly frustrated. He also struggled defensively positioning wise which isn’t ideal when young Finn needs help. Second half less of the ball, and when we had it thought we needed to use it better. Maciver was doing well with any scraps fed to him - he has the Oliver intelligence but better in the air. I thought we were looking fairly calm in the 5 mins prior to the Long calamity. Awful pass when he had options to his right or a punt. He was then badly out of position from the resulting free kick. After that we were somehow the better team for 5 mins and Agyeman with a goal of the season contender already. He’ll really frustrate imo but in the right games and circumstances let’s hope he can make the difference. After that we defended the box well - Lang is a proper defender, really really like the look of him. Unfortunate goal to lose, no one was defending the edge of the box - maybe meant to be Lawal’s job from what I could see - but we dug deep and showed some balls in the pens, and the keeper slightly redeemed himself.
  3. Will be amazed if we don’t start with Mcginn and spencer both playing the same role today. Agreed neither cover the yards to make it work as a duo though
  4. I do like what I’ve seen of smith in interviews, but would he take the job without Mcglynn? They’ve been a partnership for a while, not sure he would want it on his own.
  5. It’s funny how games are seen by fans. This time last year we’d have all been happy enough with the showing and character, taken the 3 points that sets us up very well in the group. Now we’re all pretty bemused with the same sort of performance that was nowhere near good enough last season when the important matches came around. I don’t know which one will prove to be correct. Let’s hope it’s Mcglynn
  6. Going by the pre season highlights the new main commentator is far better and just more professional than previous efforts. As long as my money isn't going into Dunfermline FC I'm happy with the change
  7. Up until this statement I thought I knew, now not so much. Large payoffs for managers basically every season, saddled with Holt 3 year contracts only just running out, no cup run until last year for ages, sponsorship non existent. All those have been at least partially corrected (add in a large “loan” (donation) by the snp), and yet the hole is the same? The squad is small this year. I honestly don’t claim to know where the money is going anymore
  8. Another fitness exercise really, although disappointed with the 2 goals conceded. What should be focused on is the group now blown wide open with results today (2 results which would’ve had this place in absolute meltdown btw). Great chance to progress again. Away at Partick will be key if we can do the business on Tuesday
  9. Incredible amount of bites for the most basic of fishing trips
  10. We defo had a blow up around the ayr game but we actually won 3 out of 5 before the playoffs and only 1 loss out of 8..:it wasn’t a capitulation ala M&M. But who cares really - we completely failed thereafter and can see no repeat this year
  11. Take a step back until the league footy begins again and the normal posters come out. Thread has been polluted with garbage chai for 2 months cos it’s the people who have nothing to do with their day on it
  12. Mackie with ball at feet is absolutely horrendous imo. Would play Mccann over him almost every game
  13. The drum will last half a game before those in the south stand get it rightfully disposed of. If there’s any older member hoping to make the ultras group a success I’d suggest quickly binning that idea
  14. In an ideal world possibly but the squad is fairly large already and any money left needs to be put into RB and striker/attacking mid
  15. We have spencer, Mcginn, Henderson, Yeats and Carroll who can play cdm. Any more money spent on that position would be a monumental waste of budget.
  16. Over 9 an over now needed for progression
  17. Hard not to like Chris Sole. Would love seeing him bowling in the big games...
  18. To be fair, the only bleep test I was aware of was when they came back from Summer - that is what BB would've thought you meant just as I did.
  19. So they'd need to exactly tie the scores then hit a 6 - never say never but a fairly unlikely set of circumstances.
  20. Netherlands have 44 overs to chase it or we're through apparently - 6.3 an over
  21. But I was lead to believe McGlynn and team have done extensive research on all players signed? If he's barely fit enough now why on earth did we sign, let alone pay money for, the guy?
  22. Would've taken that total before a ball was bowled, very decent chance now
  23. Any posts/calculations made about what sort of defeat we could afford?
  24. I am not “itk” but the conversations I’ve had anything over 1-2M for him and we’ve made more than from what the cup run made us last year…..let’s hope it happens put it that way
