  1. The Democratic Left are what's left of the old Communist Party of Great Britain I believe. TUSC are definitely pro-independence but I'm guessing it's not their priority at present. They stood as no2eu in the last European elections as they oppose the eu from the left.
  2. Not the SSP, they are affiliated to Rise and would never join up with the SWP again after the Sheridan split. The Socialist Party Scotland (ex-militant) are the biggest grouping within Tusc. It is confusing.
  3. Nonsense, they are a fleetwood Mac revivalist party.
  4. Listening to 'damnation' just now - bit confused, take it this is not them at their heaviest? That moustache is clearly a band member in his own right though?
  5. I don't think I've even heard of Opeth, worth a listen aye?
  6. Maiden were my obsession as a young lad but I've never listened to anything after no prayer for the dying. What would you recommend as a starting point to the later albums?
  7. Some good suggestions there (sabbath and Motörhead are bands I love but don't necessarily know on an album by album basis). I personally think South of Heaven is a classic with it 's punkier sound, Seasons is chilling and Rain still feels like a benchmark in thrashing aggression. I think the different styles add to the awesomeness of this dark troika. Peace of mind is waaaay too patchy to get Maiden in and early Metallica albums are a bit too samey IMO. Must listen to Beneath the Remains as Arise and Chaos AD were favourites.
  8. Serious question : is there a better, more consistent trio of metal albums out there to match Raining Blood - South of Heaven - Seasons in the Abyss?? Any serious suggestions that I don't already know of will be investigated. Gotta be three released consecutively.
  9. Anyone know how reliable the Wii fit scales are?
  10. No ironically the defend Palestine tent was there and seemed united.
  11. You think I don't know that? The votes they attracted have mostly gone to UKIP which was implied in what I said. Vote went from 47,000 in 2001 to 563,000 in 2010 which I would classify as 'a rise'.
  12. I know what you're saying and I have some sympathy for the old 'if voting changed anything they'd abolish it' argument. I also have never really bought this Scotland is a social democrat/socialist country at heart. BUT I increasingly look at the situation in England and think there is a real difference in the way the two countries are headed. The rise of the BNP & now UKIP, privatisation of education and the NHS, voting this bunch of cruel Tory b*****ds back in. These all seem to me to be the opposite (simplifying things clearly) of what is happening in Scotland. I think independence will give us the chance to do things differently, just hope it comes about before our public services are destroyed as well.
  13. 😀 That's very funny and quite true and I'm an SNP member (albeit a burnt out ex-SSP one)
  14. I was at the anti-racism demo in Glasgow on Saturday. In attendance were SSP, SWP, Solidarity, Socialist Party, CP & Fight Racism Fight Imperialism (Worker's Power?). All convinced they are right and the rest are c***s.ETA : Fight Racism Fight Imperialism are the Revolutionary Communist Group, apologies to the comrades of Workers Power.
  15. That's dynamite. Osborne's not going to be PM.
  16. Aye but as the late, great Rik Waller sang she'd something inside so strong.
  17. The woman is a hero to all self-diagnosed dyslexic obsessive compulsive quadrillionairesses. She's too surreal for Limmy.
  18. Surely the first tier below national has to be north/south then going to the north/east/west below that? It should be as easy as possible for teams to get up a division or two, particularly when first set up and three leagues into one at any tier will create a bottleneck.
  19. Yep or else they're two doors down in which case how loud must it be for their neighbours?
  20. I'm a new SNP member. I don't want or expect to see a commitment to referendum in manifesto. Another loss really would kill the idea for at least 30 years. Let's go for 5-8 years for indyref 2.
  21. Don't think you're really understanding what is going on here. Even David Cameron isn't saying they are as 'bad as each other'.
  22. Just back from George square, 10 ugly throwbacks wrapped in Union jacks presumably protesting about this. Either that or celtic's re-entry to the champions league?
  23. My wife seems incapable of working out how to use the wee cardboard tabs on boxes with cling film and tin foil in them. Or that there is a cutting edge on the box to keep them straight. Result ages spent trying to even up the fecking foil.
