The Falkirk FC Thread
Bainsfordbairn replied to Kris.'s topic in Scottish Championship General Chatter
This was covered in an FFCTV interview at some point. McGlynn prefers big powerful players in defence, but if the smaller player is better then he gets the shirt. McCann was better last season and McGlynn acknowledged that in an interview and then backed it up by playing him every week. -

I think you'll be surprised with Agyeman. His goalscoring might be hindered by the fact that he's mainly playing wide, but I've seen him in four games now and he's never failed to impress me. The boy is a player. -

I watched the beep testing and noted the players who dropped out first. I can say with certainty that Jordan Allan was not "comfortably the worst", or second worst, or third worst, etc, etc. I'm not going to go into any more details because the specifics of these things should be kept private. I have no idea how the players ranked when taking all the various tests into consideration. If you do, as you're inferring, then someone is breaking confidences who shouldn't be. It doesn't reflect well on anyone for that to be posted on a public forum. Albeit I suspect it's wrong. -

That would be for the manager to answer. I presume he'll go into detail about the squad when he does his first FFCTV interview. Not sure when that will be, though I'd guess once the League Cup games are starting. Or maybe immediately after the Arbroath games as it's at home and not closed-door. -

Can't think of anything he did wrong and he pulled off at least one good save. Spoke to his mum at fulltime and she was buzzing that he's kept a clean sheet on his debut. -

I haven't seen him once. My guess is that he's gone, but when the manager does his first press / FFCTV interview I imagine he'll go into detail about the squad. He tends to be quite open in his interviews. Langs arrival means we now have four CHs in him, Donaldson, Henderson and McKay (plus Mackie who can play there) so I don't see any room for Paul Watson. -

Haven't seen anyone. Would be surprised if someone was training but not on actually on trial, and there are certainly no trialists at the moment. Otherwise they would be getting a run out in games. -

Two out of three were entitled to extensions for reasons that have been discussed on here before. So no, they couldn't have been moved on. If you didn't know that, then it calls into question your other claims. Such as someone having to leave before we can sign a rightback. -

Does it not depend on the ref? Last year our home kit was deemed to be a colour clash with Kelty Hearts maroon and both teams had to change to their away strips for every game between us. How the f*** does this clash with navy blue? -

Yes they were there, but it was more a case of new people getting to know the kit and the setup. Strollers have highlights out which were filmed from a high vantage point in the scaffold tower. Our guys were at the back of the wee enclosure and I noticed there were fans standing in front of them so much of their footage will be unuseable. This is from Strollers. -

Sam and Nizzy were there, though the former spent all his time in the dugout so you may not have seen him. No idea about Rhys. -

I could be proven wrong, but I'm not certain this is accurate. If they're going though to get experience then as long as they record what they see then brief highlights may be possible. There's definitely not a live stream though. -

Fairly green, apart from the pink ones we've put in the 6 six yard box to help camouflage the goalie. -

No it's still in place. The rubber crumb was being dropped onto the pitch when I was down today so I'd imagine it's close to being completed, as Ross mentioned. Should certainly be finished at some point next week and in plenty of time for the Arbroath game. -

The release date will be tied in with things like having sufficient retail stock available in all sizes, having players available to model it and, depending on the plans, maybe having sponsors available on a specific day for the players to be snapped at their premises. (that happened last year). Possibly Crunchy Carrots having a spot in their schedule to shoot and edit a video too. None of that has happened yet. For those reasons I don't see the release date being brought forward. The club tweeted late June / early July so I'd imagine you'll see it towards the end of next week or sometime the week after. -

It was posted by one of the multiple twitter sites that specialise in Falkirk “news”. These generally consists of retweeting club stories or anything the media have to say about us. As far as I can see, this particular story hasn’t been claimed by anyone else. As for it’s accuracy, the team have had three training days so far. I was there on Saturday / Monday & Michael Gillen of the Falkirk Herald was there today. Neither of us have seen anyone who looks like Liam Smith. That doesn’t preclude him turning up tomorrow of course, but at this moment in time the story is false. I’d hazard a guess that someone is inventing things in the hope of getting people to follow them on twitter. -

No, they were black. I can say that with absolute certainly because they always seemed to end up in my trainers whenever I spent a lot of time on the pitch. I've never seen an artificial surface without them so I assume they'll go down at a later date. -

No, I'm pretty sure they were painted. No idea why the change. -

The grass area is the same, because the blue baize that surrounds it hasn't been touched. This is the last image I took of the old pitch. The white touchline is parallel with the edge of the North stand and the green area between touchline and baize looks fairly wide. This is todays image, admittedly taken from ground level at the opposite end. However, it shows the white touchline being parallel with the edge of the South stand and a fairly similar size of green edge. So I don't think it's been narrowed. Going forward, it won't be possible to change the dimensions unless you cut up the pitch. Those white lines aren't painted; they're a separate piece of pitch altogether. You can see them waiting to be installed in the foreground of the third shot which was taken last week. -

I'm not really a collector of items, but probably this which hangs in my hallway. It cost me £45 in the Brockville auction. -

If you mean who was the last man standing at the beep test, it was Alfie. TBH I don't think it matters who "wins" the test, other than maybe a bit of professional pride for the winner and those who got closest to him. The focus is more on the ones who drop out early and at what stage they fail to make the grade. I heard Hendo yelling at them that if anyone dropped out before a certain stage they were all going to have a tougher preseason. None of them did. I'd guess that the early dropouts will perhaps get a bit more attention from the medical people to get their fitness up. And no, I'm not going to say who those were. -

I think their selection for the video was down to two things. Firstly who was available (& maybe lives locally), combined with who was the least likely to draw negative comments. -

After some of the stick they've had online, I think it's only fair to point out that Crunchy Carrots did the video. And yes, they made a cracking job of it. -
