I don't think anyone is ITK to what his wages actually are but knowing that c**t Holt they must have been decent enough to chuck a three year deal at him from Inverness to ensure he signed for us.

Not necessarily. If we couldn't offer big money to tempt someone to join, then the next best option is to offer him a longer deal on the same wages he would get elsewhere.

Exactly what he needed, genuinely hope he does alright for you. Brad Brad Brad Brad Brad McKay Brad McKay

Was always going to happen. Players who know they're not going to get a new contract tend to either go out on loan in January or negotiate their release.

Think Finlay Malcolm / Blair Sneddon going out on loan last year and Seb Ross / Jaime Wilson being released.

The club stated it had to pay for roof repairs due to last winters storms, there was no mention the Council contributed and there was no statement made by the council that they had.

If the club stated this then there will be a record of it. On a website article, a social media post or a feature in the match programme. Perhaps a quote from a club spokesman in the papers.

Don't tell me there is evidence. Just show me it.

  4. 15 minutes ago, HopeStreetWalker said:

Well the last roof repairs were paid for by FFC and the council did not pay a penny towards the costs.

You are welcome to prove otherwise, which you won't because you can't

I did not start the thread on the stadium matter and my comment was valid. If you find the facts uncomfortable - tough

Okay, seeing you're asking for proof, let's see yours. Show me the proof that the last roof repairs were paid for by the club with no contribution by the council.

Claims are not facts until they're substantiated by evidence. My evidence is director comments on podcasts which are a matter of public record. I could add multiple personal conversations with directors and staff, but as I can't prove they took place they don't count. Just as any "I heard that" counter claims from you don't count  either.

    Evidence please HSW.

Playing devils advocate for a moment and looking at it from the opposite side, your claim might be accurate. Possibly Falkirk could  have sponsors who have the skills, equipment and knowledge to repair a roof quickly at a low price in order to get a game on. Say we paid £1000 to a sponsor to cover costs in order to get a game on which brought in £40,000 revenue. That's a no-brainer and were I in a CEO position I would make the decision in a second and worry about getting the council to contribute afterwards. (numbers plucked out of thin air BTW, but they illustrate the point).

If that ever did happen, I'd applaud the club for making a wise decision. Rather than using it to make digs at the council. And until you provide evidence none of us know if my speculation ever happened. Over to you HSW.

Can we move away from who pays what for a second and since it's the January transfer window can someone put a pair of eyes and a pen hither to a signing or even better a trebuchet with McKay in it. It's too quiet on that front and I miss the excitement!

After the abuse they got last January, I doubt the club will put anything up until about a minute before an announcement. I'm sure someone can invent something on here, but most of those tends to fall flat on their faces. 🤣

FFC however pay to maintain the council's roof and guttering under the lease agreement.

Here we go again with this anti-council pish. .

No we don't. We pay a share of of the costs for OUR roof and guttering, given that they're part of the stadium where we have our offices, dressing room etc. Our share is proportionate and reasonable according to our current directors.

How many times does this need to be explained to you before it sinks in?

ETA: - If you live in a block of flats and the roof starts leaking, it's not the top flat that pays for the repairs. All the tenants in the block pay a proportionate share. Including the guy on the ground floor.

wasnt there leaks pre Morton game that we were after half their squad for next season with Tidser being the main player mentioned. Tidser had a decent game that day too.

Tidser signed a precontract with us in January but it was kept under wraps until after we played them in March. I don't think we were after anyone else from them.

every player has a price. our trump however is we're top of the league so selling would come at a premium to allow reinvestment.

In this case, I don't think we'd sell at ANY price. At least not one that Accies could afford.

We've been well warned that if we don't go up this season it could be our last as a fulltime club. The 400K annual gap is well known. So let's say Accies offer us 800K, or enough to sustain fulltime football in this league for two more seasons

Does that justify the risk of not getting promoted, just because we'd have two more chances at it in future? Particularly as we'd be strengthening our direct rivals and McGlynn has already spoken about how hard it is to recruit in January.

They would need to offer millions (yes plural) to make the risk worthwhile. And selling our two best players would see such a backlash against the BOD that it would probably demolish everyone's faith in fan ownership.

I don't think there's a cat in hells chance of that happening. Maybe if an English club offered 500K for Morrison alone we'd consider it but there is no way we'd

    1) let our best two players go to our only competitor,

    2) sell (arguably) our best player when he still has a year and a half left on his contract.

@BainsfordbairnIs there different equipment or process from when these highlights were produced?

I've no idea. I know they had major issues with a laptop at the start of the season which are sorted but I don't know the specifics of how the work is produced. I know the guys - our media officers are my friends and the new volunteers are sound - but I don't have a direct involvement in their work. I chat to the guys before and after the game but that's all.

You'ld have to ask them, but I don't think they post on here so it would need to be through official channels.

It is absolutely deliberate criticism from me. You can't accuse me of not being constructive with it though. If in a professional context you can't take someone saying you're probably doing that wrong, try this then you really need to sort out your ego problem.

If he's using the memory card - tell him to find a higher quality preset or get some new hardware because there is serious issues in what is coming out on youtube.

It's nothing to do with ego or being unable to take constructive criticism.

It's whether that suggestion for improvement should be made on a public forum or offered in private.

So is this the situation - that the camera person is part of a contract with Pars TV? I've been wary of criticising the highlights package because I thought it was a volunteer but if it is a paid for service then we really should be moaning.

No the camera person is a volunteer, as are the two commentators.

AFAIK the highlights are done from the memory card. Sometimes the media officer does them when he gets home and on Saturday I think they were done by one the commentators on the team bus home. The guys sit behind me on the bus though I wasn't really paying much attention to what they were doing so I might be wrong on that. The commentator works in digital media at the SPFL and is very clued-up on what he does. Producing videos is part of his day job. The highlights have nothing to do with the live streaming service.

A polite suggestion for Leodhas. You're obviously knowledgeable about your subject, but if you work in a particular field for a football club it's not really the done thing to imply criticism on your counterparts at another club. And that's how your posts come across, though I'd hope it's not deliberate.

For example, I wouldn't dream of posting anything negative about the work produced by David Glencross at Alloa. Apart from the fact that I know and like him, it's just not appropriate and would be frowned upon, not just by him but by everyone else in our community. Your posts are kind of skirting on the edge of that in my eyes. Maybe better to speak to people face to face rather than post about them online?

It won't be long before we're back at Recreation Park again so you'll have your opportunity soon enough.

Leaving our best player out completely was just mental.

Unless he was injured. I've no idea if he was or not, but I'd rather not rush to judgement until I had all the facts.

It's possible we'll find out from the next press conference or TV interview.

Those Raith Rovers fans warned us last season about his tinkering (and that came to pass too) but I (we) am dumbfounded that this was repeated here.

See I'm the opposite. I don't think he tinkers at all, though today was obviously a massive exception which will probably never be repeated.

IMO we're very predictable in terms of lineup. Every Falkirk fan knows what our team will be in 99% of games if everyone is fit. Even in cup matches he doesn't normally change much. The Ayr game earlier in the season was probably has most wildcard lineup: Oliver in for Spencer, Allan in for MacIver and Lawal in for Agyeman. And I'm sure Alfie had a knock. That was him tinkering and it was three changes out of ten outfield players.

I think you've got McGlynn wrong. He pretty much sticks to the tried and tested every week, today excepted. And given how badly it went I doubt he'll do it again.

The only other time he pulled something wild was at Kelty last season when he played McCann at rightback. If you look at the rest of the changes that day, all were reasonable. (Mackie in an LB which was the position he was signed to play, Yeats replaced Oliver in midfield as the latter had been sent off in the last game at Dundee, and Hendo replacing Mackie at CH. I think that was also the position he was signed to play.)

I see McGlynn as a safe manager who very rarely changes his lineup.

From what I read on here last season, the Dunfermline manager changed his team almost every week and it brought him success. Whereas McGlynn used to get criticised because he only had one way of playing.

Today he tried to break the mould and do something different. It didn't work. To me that makes him the complete opposite of a tinkerer. And given his normally cautious nature, I'm sure he;'ll never do it again.

Thanks BB. I have asked and have yet to find out why? Perhaps it is my poor attempts at humour which i can use as an antidote to the gloom

No, it's because they're children. Or at least they act like it. They took a dislike to you and decided to try and bully you. Adults laugh that off. Kids think its cool. The fact that the only response I got was a red dot pretty much confirms it.

They'll probably switch their attention to me now. It doesn't bother me in the slightest. I'll jump on the team bus tomorrow morning to do a job for the club while they'll be looking through my previous posts and red-dotting all of them. So what? It's irrelevant, and so are the babies who indulge in that sort of behaviour.

If people aren't willing to air their gripes in person then they're not worth a second thought.

Stenhousemuir fans are all hipsters who can't stand us because we dwarf them.

Since it was mentioned earlier in the thread, can I ask why you always reddot any post from Bigbrbairn? As does I think does one other poster here?

I doubt it bothers him. It certainly didn't bother me when marshmallo used to reddot almost everything I posted. I pay attention to the opinions of people whom I know personally and who speak to me facetoface. I might not agree with them, but at least we'll have a civil conversation and after it I'll understand why their opinions and mine are so different. Or perhaps I'll be able to change their minds.

I may sometimes challenge their posts so that others hear an alternative viewpoint. Or in some cases ignore them completely because it's just a waste of effort.

But I've never constantly reddotted anyone just because I don't agree with their opinions on a forum, or because I know and dislike them in real life. To me, that just comes across as the behaviour of a child. A child who doesn't have the intelligence to engage in debate or the emotional maturity to deal with opinions which are different from their own.

I've no idea if that's what you are and I'm not trying to be insulting. I am, however,  genuinely curious as to why you do it and what you think you're achieving.

I'm not saying there wasn't a good cheer (you can hear it in the background) but I am saying the area of the ground where that video was taken is so quiet.

Given what's at stake i'd be going off my tits at that point.

It's probably the quietest part of the ground with the least number of fans in it.

OK but the microphone doesn't even pick up a decent cheer from anywhere close to them.

Looks like it was filmed from the press area. If so it's on the part of the ground that is closest to the away fans and furthest from the "noisy" element of our support.

I think you are 100% wrong. I hope McGlynn clarifies it at some point. (He already did in his interview)

Why any manager would sign up to this sort of agreement would be baffling especially a goalkeeper with no first team experience before he signed. Think about it logically? Can’t see someone as experienced as McGlynn doing it that’s for sure.

Agreed. This might be the most crucial season in decades given the possibility of part-time football if it ends badly. Yet somehow  people think that we're going to let a third-tier English club dictate who plays in one of most important positions in the team? Given how critical it is that we go up?

McGlynn is probably the most open Falkirk manager I've come across, in that he's very upfront about things like injuries and contract situations. A goalkeeping example would be when he told us last January in an FFCTV interview that we were letting Hogarth return to Forest because they wanted more money for us to keep him. I don't imagine that went down very well at The City Ground.

So the idea that he would suddenly lie to our fans, on-camera, rather than simply say it how it is seems a little far-fetched to me.

One small request directed at Nesbitt - he did the same time we were in the posh seats - scored too quickly after half time and most missed it!  Hang on for a few minutes next time please!

Thank you for explaining that. I'm so dense that I didn't get Alan's joke when he asked Nizzy during the postmatch interview to describe the goal as almost everyone missed it. 🙈

His response was funny though. "Well, I beat four of them, went back and beat the last man again just for the hell of it, and then stuck the ball in the top bin". 😆

A lady called Sarah Scott in particular has put in a lot of time and effort into the junior bairns and I hope that she gets some sort of recognition  soon of which she deserves.

I would doubt if any of the Bairns fans on this forum are unaware of Sarah. Or the amazing job she's done for the club over the decades. She was deservedly recognised at the awards night last May. She's very much loved by our support and is considered a legend along with the likes of Jean Sneddon, Gordon McFarlane and Michael White.

Can you remember at the time any other reasons as to why we were top of the league until about December then went into total free fall? Was so strange to watch (especially on Falkirk tv and not actually at any of the games).

We could have gone ten points clear of Partick on 10th December but lost our first game of the season in a defeat to Airdrie. Then we drew at home to Partick despite them being down to ten men for the last thirty minutes. And followed that up with a loss to bottom club East Fife who played us off the park. Those were the last three games before covid shut the leagues down and Holt hadn't arrived at that point, so the rot had already set in.

As for when the league restarted, all I know is that we were playing badly even in the games we won. Which were three out of eleven. There were whispers at the time that the management felt Holt was undermining them but whether that was true and it whether it affected the players I have no idea.
