  1. ‘Sectarian, Uncle Tam, Tory Voting Fodder’! Certainly getting through the full on separatist repertoire Ant, impressive stuff!
  2. She picked up a hand that had already been dealt by a recognisable majority in the EU Ref after Cameron had bolted. I’m not sure how she could have stood for the leadership of the party and as a ‘stand in’ PM on the premise that she would simply overturn the vote. In hindsight, she was perhaps ill advised to go for a snap re-election in 2017 to only reduce her majority, but it’s pretty clear why she did it; to strengthen her position with the Tory hardline backbenchers on Europe and those with a similar view on the opposite side in the Labour Party. If she HAD won an increased majority she just might have been able to negotiate a much softer Brexit as a ‘remainer’, which she most certainly was from the outset. I get it that you despise the Tories, but most rational observers at least recognise some of the reasoning behind her current, almost impossible situation.
  3. Whichever candidate standing at the time who presents a stance that is the closest to my own general view on both local and national issues. Isn’t that how most people select their choice, or do you (not you personally) just look at the colour of their rosette and blindly follow them without question, surely no one still uses that approach at the ballot box?
  4. A second vote could work, positioned as a definitive choice now the circumstances and consequences appear to be much clearer, but can the whole process be completed before the end of March? Do we put the brakes on to accommodate a new timescale will all the extended chaos and uncertainty that will ensue, plus the distinct possibility of ANOTHER general election? If the Leave vote wins again, where then? If the result is overturned, will the Government (whoever is in power) be compelled to run a rubber match?
  5. You’re contributions offer nothing mate, repetitious, trite and mostly unreadable, inedible guff, I doubt you’ll merit any future response.
  6. Think Big Mikey, cemented that at the last GE despite showing some signs of trying to reach out to opponents out with the DUP & SF. Remember him reporting from the game at Windsor back in the 80’s, maybe should have stuck to that!?
  7. I voted Con in the last GE and LD previously to that in 2015. Both candidates supported remaining in the Union and the EU. If you seriously believe that’s a separatist, divisive choice and one that offers unconditional support to leaving Europe, then I cannot change that.
  8. Cameron promised an EU vote as far back as 2013 which was presented as a bill to parliament in 2015. You presumably suggest therefore, that everyone who voted for the Labour Party in the 2005 GE also supported the invasion of Iraq two years earlier. I’ve never once said that I supported or had any desire for a Referendum to leave the EU. Your accusation seems to be that anyone who voted Tory in 2016 endorsed the break up of the EU. That’s not only untrue but plainly disingenuous.
  9. I’ve said a number of times that Westminster cannot continue to ignore the voice of Scotland particularly with regards to the EU, also that it would be hard to disagree with those who would support independence in a second Ref on the back of this mess. I’ll still say the SNP don’t do themselves any favours at WM though. I’ve no problem in owning the responsibility of the result in which I participated (through voting Tory in 2016 as you suggest) at all. The decision on offering the EU Ref had been made long before then btw. I wanted to remain in the UK and within the EU. I don’t see what’s hypocritical about that. I and many others voted exactly the same way in the Ref, the GE and the EU Ref. The notion that Republicans in Northern Ireland and Nationalists in Scotland are separatists hell bent on breaking up the U.K. is entirely consistent. It isn’t meant as an insult its just a fact. Again, I could have never have envisioned that we would leave the EU, but I’ll live with it though.
  10. Hell yeah, the SNP & SF are both determined to break up the Union, the Tories & DUP now seem to be intent on helping them in addition to leaving the EU. Did I vote for the Conservative candidate in the 2016 GE based on her local agenda? YES Did I consider supporting either the SNP incumbent or his nearest rival (LD) who re-took the seat after being completely ineffective the first time around? NO Did I truthfully expect the UK wide EU referendum to return a leave vote? NO Do I still have a right to voice my concerns of how this whole mess is being handled, yes I think I do. I understand that you may disagree.
  11. We have a precious vote, still denied to many the world over. So I will use mine as granted. I’ve done so since I was able to. I can honestly tell you that I’ve gone for the best of a bad bunch every single time, whether in local or national elections. I don’t truly feel that any party really reflects my views, beliefs or opinions and never have. I’ll hopefully retire in a couple of years, but it saddens me as to we are leaving to the next generation to resolve.
  12. Could we run a sweepstake on who can manage to sit this one out? Barry’s irrelevant flouncing has got my hand on the remote just now.
  13. On very much an important date thus far in the Brexit calendar, how could the QT production team have decided upon such a bunch of hopeless wasters!?
  14. My apologies, you got in there first!
  15. Barry fuckin Gardiner oh the joy, what an absolute C*nt!!
  16. No supporter of the DUP, but Big Arlene has complied with everything that the RHI enquiry has asked of her. The SF position, using the Irish language act as a bargaining chip is a useless and disingenuous smokescreen. It has disabled Stormont for almost 2 years. How can they complain that their voice could make a difference? They are as divisive and separatist as the SNP. Let’s not pretend there’s a fag paper between the two.
  17. Would have deserved the win tonight though pal, much the better side eh!? [emoji6]
  18. She’s got enough on her plate at the moment don’t ya think. There’s potentially a huge impending split within the Nationalist movement that she’s preoccupied with? An Elephant in the room if you like.
  19. I see what you did there, whatever happened to that thread? Bizarre but pure P&B.[emoji846]
  20. Aye, that’s brilliant patter mate, what Rangers or Flute Bands (yer pal back up the page) have to do with the Brexit debate, is beyond me, but crack on with it, knock yourself out.
  21. Both Lillee & Thompson were out for much of Boycott’s self imposed 3 year exile in the mid 70’s. His Test batting average as an opener against both the Aussies and the Windies stands up to scrutiny no problem.
  22. ‘People like you’? What’s that supposed to mean? Do you mean people who can try and rationally consider the best way out of a crisis. Isn’t that what most people do in a problem situation whether of their own making or otherwise? The tired contributions on here give no thought to a possible way forward. Content with their repetitive jibes and pointless insults, most seem to favour ransacking their own house then burning it down, to then pore over them embers and congratulate themselves on a job well done. Only to realise that they have to eventually rebuild it. Im not getting into an argument on the merits of Nicola Sturgeon and the SNP in this debate. They have been as meddlesome and divisive from the fringes as usual. Seems that the Business Community at least, seems to support the deal that May has constructed with very few other workable options, let her present it to the EU.
  23. Most complex political negotiations will have to break the Red Lines at some point. The early ‘give always’ only tease out where the real pressure points are. If everything was set in stone, a successful agreement ( for both sides) would be impossible. May knows she has no other choice than to compromise. JRM isn’t offering a credible alternative other than no deal is better than a bad deal. You’re right though, he is consistent.
