Relatively safe option which given the strange nature of the January window I'm fine with, wouldn't imagine he's on a high wage or anything either. Will be interesting to see how the rest of the window shapes up, in regards to any more incomings; Pearson and potentially one more Marvin-esque replacement is the general consensus but depends on what shape and system McGhee wants to mould into for the second half of the season I suppose.
If we can get a taker for Ainsworth I wouldn't be surprised to see him head out, either on loan or permanent. Laing will most definitely be punted again, we've got a settled defence and I just don't see him getting in ahead of Ferguson/Kennedy to cover McManus/Heneghan. We'll probably see a couple of the younger boys sent out on development loans, try and aid their development by being around a first team etc.

Interesting that report included a 125k figure that we paid to get Moult from Wrexham, that's the first time I've ever seen any figure thrown around in regards to his purchase.

In other news there's McGhee saying he doesn't expect Laing will be back with us after his loan at Notts County is done - says 1 or 2 teams interested in him.0 -
Waiting for someone on SO to have a moan at McGhee taking the team cycling at Falkirk in the Summer and attributing Thomas' stagnation/regression to that.

We gave him a 2 year contract as well? Deary me.

Same argument for Oxford with Marv and us with Heneghan, would you really see him moving on after only 6 months? If it helped bring money in short term though to give scope for January deals then that would help of course, but on flip side let him keep playing and he'd no doubt go for more further down the line and of course would get us more to help pay off this loan.

They also think he's Scottish, he's a Manc I thought? Don't see him moving on after six months and hopefully he keeps going the way he has been and we'll get a decent fee for him perhaps in the summer or in a years time.

Couple of games shifted for TV in January/February on top of the cup game.
Rangers home game now 12.30 Kick off - Sat 28 Jan, with Hearts at home brought forward to a 12.15 kick off the following Saturday.
Gives us 3 tv games in 3 weekends, with Ross County away sandwiched in between Rangers and Hearts game. Could well see the Aberdeen game rescheduled in there too just to make things even more awkward.

Interesting that as far back as 2009 we were complaining about selling players with only a year left on their deals or seeing players move when their contracts ran out instead of getting the income we should have. And it's only really starting to be addressed now.

Apparently there was income from a sell-on clause in the Jamie Murphy deal.
Was just about to come back on and edit the post to include that. Figure was something like 514K for Erwin's compensation and Murphys sell on clause in the move to Brighton. Was considerably up from the previous year which would have been the sale of Anier pre 2014-15.
Next years one will be interesting to find out with Marvin's fee plus comp. for Leitch and Hall.0 -
Unless anyone else went for a fee last season, we made ourselves 500k, rounded down, for Erwin in compensation.

Also went along to the Clyde v Arbroath game, 2 penalties, a free kick and two outside of box strikes. Red card in game also, first thought was yes it was a red with the player going in with his studs over the ball. Interestingly, the guy that was sent off was a substitute and the guy he replaced could also easily have been sent off before hand for an aggressive over reaction and 'head-butt'. Good game though, thoroughly enjoyed.

Best of luck to the man, hope he silences the Kris Boyds etc!

The central midfield definitely needs addressed. A lot could depend on Lucas staying or going though. Depending on the formation McGhee is to go with I'd potentially be after a quality wide player to replace Marvin too.

I don't see us winning with our absentees and there is this nagging feeling that Ian Baraclough will go down in history as being the only Motherwell manager of recent times to beat a side called Rangers.
2-1 to Rangers.
At least you'll be happy with your wee teams win this afternoon then!0 -
Just started this for Scotland. Am I holidaying to May 1st yes?

If it counts for much, Peterborough's description of him has him down an being able to play as a winger too with this 'pace to burn'.
