  1. Some were funny but he was on too much per episode.
  2. Watches Taken last night (loved it) then at the other end of the spectrum, Sling Blade tonight. Boring pap.
  3. What will be interesting to see is how the people who read the Expanded Universe books about the adventures of Han, Luke and Leia (and their offspring) will react to TFA. Some of those books were good, others a shameful waste of trees. I feel it is good Disney are not tied to those events though, but that doesn't mean they can't take ideas from them. But it will mean a fair slice of the fanbase will have preconceived ideas about how Episode 7 should play out. I'll put the following in a spoiler tag as it's a comment about the EU and the rumoured state of the Galaxy Far Far Away in TFA... as such it's not recommended clicking for anyone staying spoiler-free. That will make no sense to anyone who has not read those books!
  4. I quite like following the spoilers, it's been good fun. I don't do that for any other film or franchise - the last Bond film I followed the spoilers for ahead of release was Tomorrow Never Dies - but it's a different kind of experience. The buzz lasts longer about it. So when I see the film on the 19th there will be few surprises for me but I'd prefer that than to seeing a film I wanted to love but ended up hating because my expectations weren't met. The prequels were a difficult set of films all in all and I know of folk that have refused to watch any of them because they have friends disappointed by them who said steer clear. John Boyega made a comment this week that he wasn't sure what fan reaction would be. I don't think that has anything to do with the film's quality, more the expectations of a vast and diverse fanbase.
  5. Way, way too much of Jack Docherty in this series. Liked the reference this week to the guy the traffic cops lifted in series 1 for flogging booze out of an ice cream van as that IMO was one of the best sketches across the (fairly patchy) show.
  6. A bit of further confirmation of Baillieston Juniors AFC's present home at St Ambrose: http://www.broomhousefc.co.uk/item.php?pg=match&pd=1022&it=78
  7. A few others also play on 3/4G I think. Drumchapel FP at the Donald Dewar, a few clubs such as Hamilton FP and EK YM, use Hamilton Palace (whether that's the artifical surface I do not know). Broomhouse use the Greenfield complex 4G. On the other hand, the occasional enclosed Junior ground is being used such as Overtown Thistle at Stonehouse. Balmore have moved on from there to a public park in Law. At the end of the day, the Caledonian League is losing members to the Central Scottish on an almost annual basis. The Scottish AFL likewise. To attract / maintain teams, they're having to adjust their standards I suppose.
  8. http://www.caledonianafa.org.uk/website/index.php/league-tables/first-division Bottom of Div 1A. They only entered that set-up this year after their 21s squad became overage. The postcode is on the CAFA site is that of the old Drumpellier pitches - I don't know Coatbridge and didn't know it was now St Ambrose HS - I assume there's a 3/4G there and that is what they use.
  9. Baillieston Juniors in name live on, originally as a boys club but now they have a team in the Caledonian Amateur League. Their 21s team played out of Priory Park in Blantyre and the amateur side are at the Drumpellier playing fields in Coatbridge.
  10. During the first season, that was the case up until the mid-season break, and for some reason while in USA it resumed in January, we had to wait a good month or so for the season to resume. I felt it was a little claustrophobic with almost all episodes on Lothal. Hopefully the cell expands in S2.
  11. Most online 'redtop' articles are clickbait or arse-kissing pieces to be read by the supporters of the club involved. And unsurprisingly, most of these are OF related.
  12. The metallic logos pack has almost all the Junior ones in it.
  13. How long til we get it? I persevered with S1 but it was a bit pants IMO.
  14. Doesn't make it amateur though - in Scotland 'amateur' is classed as recreational football. The Juniors are also on the Non Professional board and about half of its membership legally pay players, something the recreational teams are forbidden to do.
  15. The Vanity Fair website has some pictures: http://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2015/05/star-wars-the-force-awakens-vanity-fair-cover The interesting pics (scrolling gallery at bottom) are of... Interestingly (or perhaps not), someone unearthed the fact that the name... was pretty much used in the cartoon series Droids
  16. Vanity Fair have a history of on-set photoshoots being an early reveal and this time it's no different: One or two slight spoilers in terms of casting within the film above.
  17. Yeah but there is a slight variation: Whereas in the EU... If you want spoilerific specifics... Spoilers are a bit vague compared to the prequels which is quite good I suppose but the basic outline of what happens is out there.
  18. Not from what I have heard, though some ideas from the Expanded Universe are floating about. Some fairly nailed-on plot ideas to be plucked from the EU seem to be...
  19. Yeah it is an interesting idea to have a film about the '1st victory' mentioned in the ANH crawl. Though I thought that was where the Rebels TV series was heading.
  20. Yeah it was fine the first time, maybe 2nd time too with the Jedi Academy trilogy, but a lot of the subsequent trilogies mined similar ground. By ditching the EU and its timelines, it means no one really *knows* what will happen. While some EU ideas will survive, it's much more of a guessing game. Even for those following the spoilers, it's much more under wraps than it was for the prequels. Very few character names are known, the state of the galaxy is very much a ??? (as opposed to the peace with Imperial skirmishes Zahn and those that followed envisaged), it was not until yesterday that a new planet name was unveiled, what is known of the plot is very sketchy and without much detail. If it was the Thrawn trilogy, much, much more would be known and it would be a lot less interesting IMO.
  21. Which is a good thing as the Expanded Universe of post ROTJ had a formula of: Another Imperial comes along and threatens Galactic Peace in the New Republic, perhaps with a Superweapon. Luke (and his band of new Jedi from the Jedi Academy), Leia, Han (and their children) and Lando will all be involved in undoing it. Everyone lives happily ever after. Repeat ad nauseum. Some of the stories were good but it did get very repetitive and would have been a very regid structure for the sequels to fit into. I've heard some demand that Timothy Zahn's books be the focus and while I'm sure some aspects of the EU will survive, at least they have a blank slate at this point to perhaps take things in a more interesting, less sterile direction.
  22. Here's JJ Abrams introducing BB-8 to the audience at Celebration:
