  1. First half I noticed Thomson was man marking Spencer. He just followed him about the pitch. On a few occasions he was our most forward player as he tracked Spencer right up to the Raith box. This is most unusual for someone that usually plays defensive mid. It seemed strange to see him so far ahead of Jarrett. Second half Thomson reverted to a more usual role (and played the pass of the game leading to the 5th goal) and Spencer was substituted. No mention of Spencer at all from the Raith fans here. What had Owen Coyle seen that prompted this? Did any other QP fans notice Thomson's disciplined dogged compliance?

  2. Nah.  O'Brien actually jumped into Williamson; pretty clear in the highlights. He then had the cheek to join Ricky Little in having a got at him. Outside the box but a definite foul.
A draw was fair although two outstanding saves from Gaston could have made that different.
Unfortunate mistake from Bannon but that's four fewer defensive blunders than last week. We're getting better.
How did that big sub stay on the park?
Outside the box? Yes. Grabbed him to stop him getting the ball? Yes. Red card? Yes. ef1e3bd5c6fd23696d132efb12245eea.jpg
  3. That's a very blinkered response. You think it’s just Celtic fans who have issues with the royal family?
Some Queen’s Park fans have a very wide and deep understanding of what the Monarchy, The Realm, The Commonwealth and The Establishment are really all about. The fitba on a Saturday should be devoid from politics, not punished by it.
I am no monarchist and I am absolutely furious that the football has been inexplicably cancelled. I have read and mainly enjoyed everything that you have written on here for a long time. Surely however you regret supporting that 3 letter abomination. I grew up hating both of these 3 letter abominations - it's a big part of why I support Queens park. This is football - is it not?

Because his hand are out and above his head , that makes your body bigger , it’s the rules that are potentially wrong but no one can deny his hands were not in a natural position when the ball was at his feet

Away, his hands were in a completely natural position. He was stretching his leg and his arm was outstretched to counterbalance. This is completely natural - especially if he wanted to stay on his feet after making the clearance. See also a similar body shape from a famous James Milner clearance.

  5. What's murky in terms of QP's finances?  My understanding is that it's not Go Radio who are sponsoring us. Surely not you at the mischievous wind up again, socksy?
There was a photographer at the game on Tuesday who was hoping that the team was going to be wearing the new kit with the new sponsor and he could get a scoop. The name he gave according, to his information, wasn't Go Radio or Bucks Bar.
    Scott's?
  6. Really good interview. Interesting that Hearts being in Europe might mean he stays because they’ll need a bigger squad.

Touches on different managers and playing styles at QP… look out for one clunking big fucking bombshell towards the end…

  7. Sorry to pick on your post Tangled Web (there’s been many like it) but this “that’s professional football for you” myth needs busted. There’s loads of professional players who spend most of their career at one or two clubs. Every season as amateurs we bussed in players and bussed out just as many. Few were around for more than two seasons.
People who keep jumping ship either have a lack of integrity or keep moving before they get found out. Being professional isn’t a reason. Might be a factor but not the reason. And as your last comment implies, the set-up at QP now should not only attract better players but guys who want to stay around and help build a winning team.
Hey please continue to challenge my posts. Dialogue is what we are here for. The subsequent posts further make my point. I did think carefully and used the word 'overall' when I talked about offers. Masllow's hierarchy of needs applies to professional footballers as much as it does to the rest of us. I wonder though if you have access to another QP forum because I can't see much evidence of a "cult' following for Simon Murray on this one. He pushed himself to the front of every picture at the Excelsior which is funny and may annoy some but it doesn't make him a bad footballer or even a bad guy.
  8. Shame he couldn’t make a difference in more games then and maybe we would have been Champions rather than play-off hopefuls. Not good value for money. If he gets a better offer somewhere else he’ll be off like a shot.
They will all be off like a shot if they get a better offer. That's professional football for you. All the guys we will be signing will come to us because we made the best overall offer.
  9. They’re going to need to sweeten the pill. The support didn’t get us into this farce. 50 mile round trip every second week is going to have to have some sort of cushion for supporters. They shouldn’t think they can just rely on blind loyalty.
Hopefully if it is true it's not for the whole season. Key for me is that we don't cut ticket prices for the armies of away fans that we were concerned about a few pages ago. Maybe a £10 (or so) membership of the QPSA gets you a free bus to Ochilview and a couple of quid off the match ticket price?
Apart from maintaining revenue from away fans that would capture more supporter data for future marketing and communications. If that isn't generous enough the £10 could be part or fully redeemable against club merchandise. Season tickets (which I guess will be up around the £300 mark) then get the QPSA membership included. That sort of thing works for me
  10. We’d better not even think about raising prices. £20 to watch QP v Arbroath at Ochilview is Twilight Zone stuff.
When the club announces this, they’d better not bullshit us and pretend this is anything other than a massive pain in the arse. A 50 mile round trip every second week isn’t going to attract a single new supporter and all of the free buses for school kids in the world won’t change that. We’re as well parking that side of things until we get home.
Just build the fucking stadium and stop leaking to the the scummiest rag on the planet to break the news please.
£20 to include bus from the Southside?
  11. Kilmarnock had good supports at Gayfield for Friday nights. Probably about 600. Dunfermline was not great though (understandable considering their season) Only Hamilton with 1400 and Queen of the South with 1100 were below 1500 as an average. Also the average figures should really all be higher, each team had 2/3 home games capped at 500 and with all the rescheduled games there were so many midweek games. Imagine each club would be 2/300 better off than the averages shown here

Hey thanks for the insight and linked info though looking at the link you have rounded Hamilton's 1262 up to 1400 which is generous of you. I understand that there is some COVID impact but let's bear in mind that some of these numbers may include season tickets that didn't actually attend. There will also be a number of complimentary tickets. Let's also consider that Cove won't suddenly find hundreds of new fans so about half the clubs there - including QP can expect home attendances under 2K. Then we have to consider what that would be if a club plays all its home games away from home. What would Arbroath's home attendance be if you were mid table and were playing all your home games at Brechin or Forfar?
HD clearly has his tongue firmly in his cheek and Nathan has drawn some reaction however if we can't get into 'big' Hampden then some creative sulutions may be needed to make sure we are not prioritising Dundee and Thistle fans over QP fans. I drive to home games so it doesn't really impact me but I would be sad to be at Airdrie or Stenny or Falkirk in December v Inverness or Arbroath or Cove and there were 900 paying fans there. In the meantime I will of course be keeping the faith.
  12. There will be no room at the start of the season for any standing support as, apart from the East Stand, the rest will be a building site. Once the South Stand is finished there will be room for 500 away supporters but, until then, in the words of our CEO, " there will be 200 seats for away fans no matter who we are playing ".
Regarding NathanQP's comment, re away supporters,  he should be ashamed of himself , QP will welcome as many away fans as it is safe to have until all building work is finished.
Ah okay I didn't know that. I thought we could squeeze a few hundred in and maybe get to 1500 or so which is around where some of the current clubs were last season with Killie and Dunfermline in the Championship. Anyone like to hazard a guess at where we might share and what sort of attendances might realistically be achieved there? Not including Hampden of course.
  13. 990 seats simply isn’t feasible in the Championship. It’d actually be less with segregation taken into consideration. We’d probably have gotten away with it in League One for a wee while, but even the smallest away supports will be in three figures next season.
Hamilton is out. Airdrie is out because I think the Uni and Celtic B are also playing there. Firhill is out. Broadwood is a depressing possibility. Hampden would be the best for us, but fixtures would need to be sorted to fit around gigs until late August. Fir Park is the rumour I’ve heard and would make sense in terms of the new hybrid pitch and relationship with Leeann Dempster.
990 seats is more than Arbroath have. I don't know whether there is an option for some limited standing round the pitch. Notwithstanding I doubt whether there will be more than 990 QP fans at the games so any ground share will either be for financial benefit (How much however would the likes of Killie or Motherwell want to ground share?) Or would it simply be to allow a bigger away support? How much will it cost QP fans to get to Broadwood or Ochilview? For me a capacity of 990 is fine. Let's go home.
