Why can't they pronounce these words? To hear them mangle the pronunciation elicits a range of emotions, none positive.

    - Herbs

    - Lager

    - Twat

    - Graham/Graeme

    - Aluminium

    - Craig

    - Oregano

I'm sure there are loads more. Note that I mean the same words, not the equivalent, like 'sidewalk' etc.

To be completely fair to the Americans, ‘aluminum’ was apparently the original spelling.

I studied history and politics at uni and my mum, who did an OU history degree while I was growing up, thought it fitting to buy me a copy of Mein Kampf along with a copy of The Communist Manifesto and The Wealth of Nations one Christmas. While, in all honesty, I've never really seen much issue with it, l I often get horrified looks when recanting this tale.

A couple of weeks later, for my 21st birthday, she gave me a dried, severed ostrich toe that she'd found in an antique shop. That one is a little harder to justify.

This is the terrible presents thread

Blue Jayz for me, I think we'll struggle to win the Grey Cup this year though...

Yup, family in Canada so I support their litany of failure and underachievement across the board. Opposite to Craig I follow the Seattle Seahawks in NFL.

I did see a game at Maple Leaf Garden late 80s where we got beat by the Blackhawks. A Christmas present from my late Uncle and I went with my late cousin, right after Christmas.

To be completely fair, at least Hogtown got to celebrate 2 World Series, 1 NBA Championship and an MLS Cup in living memory. It’s just the Leafs who are the real miserable fuckers.

    Who is everybody's chosen team?

I've been following New Jersey Devils after seeing them live and they seem to be either really good or really bad.

    Jack Hughes is the boi.

Leafs. Because of family primarily, but also because they are a fucking badass brand.

Also, perhaps most importantly, they are appalling underachievers, and therefore fit nicely into my overall sports team selections.

Most of the Hearts fans on here are ok, but this one plays the victim card when he thinks people are "beastly" to him and only pops up again when they string a few wins together.

I would say he was a fanny, but that would suggest he is useful - its clear he hates Hibs more than he likes Hearts and is one of those minters best ignored tbqhwy.

He’s not a Hearts fan, I don’t think. As much as it would fit the bill. He tries far too hard. My bet is that he is a supporter of another team who uses these posts to release some frustration…possibly incel-related frustration.

I really hope he isn’t a Hibs fan trying to make Hearts fans look bad. But I doubt it - he lacks the wit of your average Hibee.

Perhaps one of our resident brainboxes could compare his IP with other users? I’m almost 100% certain he will also have a Falkirk and/or St Johnstone account

  6. I must say, despite being a vociferous atheist for most of my life, some elements of organised religion have been of comfort to me recently. Not an easy year on a personal level, nor on a global level. But the idea of Jesus, or Buddha, even at the level of metaphor, is a settling one. When stories fly around of bombing campaigns, rapes, murders, people killing in the name of ‘nationality’ or ‘religion’ or ‘race’, I do find it comforting to think that a massive section of the world’s population know it’s wrong, and believe in the honour of love and peace - even if they don’t act upon it. I think the comfort is similar to that you can find in the pages of Bertrand Russell. Not THE truth, but a guide towards A truth.

And by the way, I’ve been a right c**t at various stages through my life, and probably will be again. But since having children, I’ve had a stronger sense of empathy towards others, even if I remain an anti-social p***k.

Hiya Judy… what a revolting thing to say about a stranger on the internet.

I looked up what an “incel” is… is that not a really weird thing to say about a stranger, based only on the football team they support humiliating yours?

Hope you have a bearable evening tonight… you ‘statutory rapist’ (see what I did there?)…

    0-1 you vermin shite-hawk scum.

    HHGH

    🙄

Did you just look it up, or did you look it up the last ten times you told us all you looked it up?
