  1. I don't think it would be that easy to just lay a plastic pitch due to our subsidence. The pitch is still moving towards the river and the dip used to flatten out round about the first goalpost, it now carries on about 20ft by the goals. It would cost a 5 figure sum to level it before you could even start on it. Add in the fact you wont stop it continuing there could be a major problem. I'm no expert but you don't notice it with grass and I'd imagine the astro would just rip, it's not just an inch or two we are talking about.
  2. Not looking promising, looks like it's not really to rise much above 4, the biggest problem will be right up the stand side as it doesn't get any sun at all at this time of year. A wee bit of rain forecast later on in the week that should help as long as we don't get a heavy frost after it. Not a quick fix in these temperatures I'm afraid.
  3. To be fair these pitch inspections could have been done last Tuesday with the same result.
  4. I remember a game that was due to be played on the Saturday, the park had about 2 inch of snow on it since midweek plus it was solid under the snow. The bold SPFL wouldn't let us have an inspection until the Saturday. The game had zero chance Just didn't make sense. [emoji1745]
  5. The pitch wasn't struggling in October, if the vertidrain had been done at the right time both those games would have went ahead. The pitch actually looks really good for this time of year, partly because of the lack of games it's had. As soon as it thaws get the vertidrain on it again and with a wee bit of luck with the weather it will be fine. Ps there is covers there but you can't leave them down for a week, plus the last time we used them a few years ago they never worked. By their sell by date I'm afraid.
  6. IMHO it will take a massive change in the projected forecast for the game to go ahead.
  7. If it is a local ref that is actually doing the game he would do it but most of the time it's Euan Anderson as he lives local. They do take in the forecast big time in their decision. Unfortunately they don't really take into account our location, the wind is a massive factor down there in stopping the park flooding, that's why I was really surprised at todays call off. Of all the postponements I had I can safely say by 3pm only one was the right call.
  8. I'm staying out of it this time m8. Disgruntled ex employee and all that.
  9. Days like this that I don't regret my decision as I look out the window with my slippers on lol. Merry Xmas guys.
  10. The Moonster is bang on, not a chance of that pitch being unplayable.
  11. Just had one mental shower there and as you say the wind is nuts.
  12. Maybe it was a good decision moving it [emoji15]
  13. IMO the game will 100% definitely go ahead and the pitch will be fine.
  14. Nope I know that pitch, a proper vertidrain even done as late as today the pitch would cope with Saturday and Tuesday. Not sure who done it today and what sort of work was done. It wasn't my usual guy that done it.
  15. No rain today and a quality drying wind. Apparently got vertidrained this morning so there will be absolutely to problem with water on the park. Interesting to hear the reason for moving it.[emoji2369]
  16. That's not what I said. I said if it has been vertidrained this week it will defo be on. If it hasn't it still has a chance as it's to be dry on Friday and it doesn't take long draining away at this time of year. Hope that is a bit clearer for you.
  17. It's to be dry tomorrow, that will give it enough time to recover from the battering it's getting just now. If it's been vertidrained it will 100% be on no matter how much it rains.
  18. I had got into a routine of vertidraining in October, end of December and a final one end of Feb beginning of March. They are in the pitch budget. I would have vertidrained it the Sunday after the Dunfermline game, especially with back to back games this week. I was still surprised with the amount of water sitting on it. Normally doesn't go that bad until it gets ripped up a bit and the grass isn't as thick it is just now. Maybe it's starting to struggle with all the training sessions on it. That's just a guess as I haven't been on it. I might have came across wrongly at the weekend, I'm certainly not a disgruntled ex employee.
  19. I'm a bit pissed off with the comments from a couple of Dumbarton FC posters from yesterday. I don't work for Dumbarton FC so they have no say in what I post, seriously didn't want to cause problems but thought my experience could help you guys out to get to grips with what is happening. I wasn't allowed to post when I was an employee and got pulled up a couple of times for posting as I was getting snitched on by someone who will remain nameless. My point is if the majority don't want me to post I will shut my account down. I certainly wasn't trying to put anyone under a bus as was posted. [emoji2369] Apologies if you think I was ott in my posts.
  20. One good thing from this weekend is we have another new poster that hasn't posted since February who is now back and looking in. Welcome back George. Looking forward to your future posts. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
